    When connecting power between terminals, for safety and consistency, BLACK WIRE is normally used for GROUND (or V-) and RED or WHITE (less common) for Supply Voltage (V+, or VCC)

    I have a question?, I have a LED strip ws 2812 B 100 meters, a strip of two meters is attached to the wall, total 50 strips are attached, total LED is 6000, which controller will be used for this? That works with audio?

    I see there is a voltage drop to the end of the strip, but how does adding a ground wire help?
    Isn't it that the 5V wire should also be connected on another place?

    • @napnapnop
      @napnapnop 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as well, and not just at the end of the strip. Power loss will always occur, it's just a matter of reducing it as much as possible. Of you connect extra wires for ground and +5v at the end of the strip, the highest power loss will be in the middle then. Question is if you are able to notice it or not....

    In your vid: The GROUND wire (green), which they should call the common wire (?), is connected to the aluminum chassis? And the blue wire is VSS, which they should call GROUND? And VCC is the black wire? Thanks!

    Does the pixel number on the Auto layout means "sections" or number of LED on the strip?
    I have a 5050 SMD300 strip, that on each "section" has 3 LEDs (each one is RGB).
    I mean, if I want 30*30 layout, do I need 30 sections or total of 30 LEDs on the strip?

    Great videos, thank you! Hey, can you share any insight on clear LED screens? (typically seen on large applications so the resolution being very coarse aids in the perception that it's clear) How are they doing that, are they somehow placing the chips to the side of the screen vs. inboard next to the LED, as seen on your example strips? Wondering if you might know of a good source to find clear strips and/or screen? Thanks again.

    Hi Ryan
    Thanks for 4 awesome and easy to understand tutorials.
    I am wanting to make a project very like yours but with two differences.
    First:
    I want the LED display to be fully mobile.
    (It's going to be a LED Flag, mounted on a carrying pole)
    Is there a way of running it all of a 12Volt battery ??
    I can find 12 volt LED RGB strips online. But don't know if they are compatible with the T1000S and I would like to know if the T1000S will run on 12V only, with out a 5 V input ?
    Secound:
    I'm on a Mac computer.
    Do you know if there is a way to run "LED Edit 2013" on Mac OS X ?
    Or if there is a similar program for Mac ??
    Thanks
    Peter

    Can someone explain or give a link to something informative about why the wire connection is like this? He connects V+ to 5V and V- to GND. I don't understand at all why... I've always learned about DC having V- V+ and GND, but this setup doesn't make sense to me... (semi-newbie in LED lighting here)

  • @CaerelsJan
    @CaerelsJan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Considering the voltage drop: why do you add a red wire from the GND of the controller to the GND of the end of the strip? I thought you would have added an extra black wire running from your Power Supply (an extra V+ port) directly to the end of your strip (on the 5V dot, not the GND).

    • @sprawlnod8117
      @sprawlnod8117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shadab Khan: Did you find a solution? I have a similar question because I don't think he should be able to jump power by using the ground wire like he does in the video. From what I've learned, you should jump power using the 5v wire (makes more sense to use the power wire to jump power) and that is how I've done it in the few projects I've done. [From Power, I attach 5v to controller and to light strip; From Power, I attach Ground to controller and to light strip; From Controller, I attach ground to light strip].
      I'm wondering if his ground and power might be switched and he doesn't realize, either because he mis-labeled or the Chinese controller has mislabeled its pins/ports? I've seen other T1000s with different labeling order than mine, so I wonder if some are mislabeled?
      Any electricians out there who know why he was able to jump with his ground wire? Is the video correct?

    • @rich1051414
      @rich1051414 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason you add the ground to the end is to reduce the effective resistance of the bottom half of the LED's. The same thing is achieved by adding an additional power line. If you do both, you could vastly reduce power inefficiency due to accumulated resistance, however, adding a second ground to the end of the strips is usually enough. AFAIK, these stips use a common rail that runs down the back of all the strips, and the LED's and controllers tap into it in parallel. The arrows have NOTHING to do with flow of electricity, but flow of data.

    I bought 5 of these off eBay for $20.00 each with free shipping from Hong Kong, they are called "SUPERNIGHT 12V DC 30A 360W Regulated Switching Power Supply" and all 5 of them work fine, the only problem I am having is with the thermostats, I can't get the power supplies to run quietly.
    Anyway, as soon as I wire up and plug the units into an outlet (without even drawing a single watt of power) all of the fans turn on at full-speed?! I was told the fans are only supposed to come on when the units start getting heated, or begin reaching their maximum 360 watt loads, but now from COLD-START/ZERO LOAD?!? Why are the fans running at max speed ALL THE TIME? Constant fans running at full-speed makes these units super, super noisy!
    Do you know if this 'fans-always-on' issue can be fixed? I am running our office LED lighting system from these which are nowhere near the full 360 watt load (more like 120 watts) but the fans running at full force with even just 1 watt, makes every one of these power supplies unusable. :(

    LED strip dislay is one trend of LED display, it's much lighter than traditional LED dislay , low wind load and you don't need air-condition for it's not enclosed design.
    We worked with it for years , and we've developed some Series of the product . Pls come visit our website if you are interesting and let's together develop the technology .

    Could you use this type of setup to control warm white leds?

    • @sprawlnod8117
      @sprawlnod8117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it is likely overkill for whites unless you have a project requiring each led to be programmable at different intensities (this set-up controls millions of colors and each led individually). There are much simpler controller/power set-ups that can handle dimming and blinking of white LEDs.

    Hello I need some sugestion,how I can have real time clock and temp on same display like this.I using T1000s controller.thanks

    • @sprawlnod8117
      @sprawlnod8117 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think there is a way to do "real time" with a T1000S because it can only run programs loaded on to the SD Card in a loop. To get real time info, you would probably be best using an arduino controller with wifi.

      MAX 2048 leds connect to T1000 controller. To get more LEDs be controlled, i suggest T8000, it can control MAX 8192 leds.

    Hi, i'm having a trouble. I have a ws2812b strip with t1000s controller and the same power supply. After led 30-50 lights loss power, and almost every led after # 100 barely power on... I've tried wiring gnd to the end of the strip (as you mentioned), but I can only gain a bit of brightness, but still working wrong. What can I do? Thanks a lot.

    Can you connect via DMX?

    • @jessiefeng3269
      @jessiefeng3269 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the Ws2801 ic led strip is the SPI signal, if want to connect the VIa DMX. should add a decorder. if you have the DMX controller. you can just get the DMX led strip . can work with the DMX controller directly.
