Wow... 😮 Outstanding 🖤 I was thinking: "such a loss". And then: "no: such a legacy". He is gone, but the gift he left to us is extraordinary. It isn't a loss, allover; it's a ridiculous win for musicians, music and history of music in general. Many thanks for this Greg. I feel a little ashamed to have waited all these years to watch this documentary. To me Emmett was only the inventor of the instrument. Now I learn that he was also a pioneer in the playing technique. I didn't know he was harmonically that much advanced. I love the way both hands are intricate. I love his virtuosity, especially the left hand staccato.
He was an amazing person. So encouraging and completely given into whatever conversation you happen to strike up with him. Wether it was music, art, society, spirituality, what have you, he was all in. He welcomed me to the "family" as it were (IS) when I 1st got my Stick ( a 10 string polycarbonate like the one he is playing here) and I called SEI to order strings. I loved every interaction we had..phone, text, email..it was always an exchange of sincerity and genuine humanity and love.
Wow, I can not believe Emmett is gone. Truly a master for all of us Stickists let alone the music he generated !! Met him when I picked up my Stick in 2019... wow, miss ya

So I guess Eddie didn't invent finger tapping after all... 🙄
He brought it to the masses though... however, this is otherworldly... guitar and bass at the same time played like a keyboard.
