When he said "How much" without adding please (s'il vous plaît in french or hafek in Darija) to the salesman, I was truly shocked! A little politeness will go a long way! the seller is a pious man who listens to verses from the Quran, believe me when I say these little things mean a lot to him!

Hi, Erin. Glad you like it that much in Morocco! it is pleasant to live here, for sure! Customs and culture differ a lot from culture to culture, and it's always good to get to know different customs and lifestyles! I just wanted to comment on what you said about people not buying in bulk here and buying goods on a daily basis.Well, today, for modern households with both working parents, it's literally next to impossible to buy stuff daily. Buying habits have changed so much over the last few years, here. Even in households with stay at home moms, doing the shopping once or twice a month has become the common way to go. So, fewer people still do the shoping daily.
hanout and moul-lhanout (store owner) is a very old thing in morocco, the impcat of hanouts in our daily lives, i think its still exists in small cities, the moul-hanout can give products without money to people from his place, the street or district where he is located, and register the operations till the end of month, when people get their salaries and then pay him for what they took from him ( oil sugar gaz etc..), never saw this anywahere
this kind of hanout named "Moul zari3a" you can get from there fresh salted nuts like sun seeds (zari3a) and almonds (Louz) and peanut (kawkaw) and also pistachio (pistache)
This is not the normal hanout that we know 😂😂 this is a classy one 😂😂 and it's expensive 😂and we don't call it hanout since it's more organised and attractive we call it mahal😂 I know it's the same meaning but mahal is more classy than hanout 😂😂 like we say hanout has updated or graduated😂😂😂

Great information! I'm shopping for a fridge and notice most of them are very small. I guess if you shop frequently, you don't need a huge fridge. I love the idea of supporting small businesses rather than large cooperations. Also, I didn't know prime was bad. I used to drink it in America 😮
