    The Cessna 180 is my favorite of the lot. I built it when i was a kid around the time my dad's friend took us all for a ride in his Cessna 170 and he was in the Civil Air Patrol.The Monogram B-25 is the first model i ever remember building. I brush painted it in Testors silver. It looked beautiful first few flights around the back yard and parked on the patio in the sunlight!

      @pcj3405 I almost joined the Civil Air Patrol in Clearwater, FL, as a kid. The Clearwater airport at that time still had a few wwii and Korean War private aircraft.

    What a great haul! You have inspired me to search through the local thrift stores, garage & estate sales. Mu first vote is for the Airfix Super Mystere and yes, I agree that painting it in Israeli AF colors is the way to go. My second vote is for the Monogram B-25, I built both that kit and the B-26. I grew up and lived on the NW side of Chicago. Monogram was located in the nearby suburb of Morton Grove. And thanks for the tribute to the memory of Shep Paine. He was and is the #1 modeling hero from my childhood. He and Francois Verlinden will always be the best! Enjoy the builds Tom!

    @Chilly_Billy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What a terrific haul! You've been very fortunate in your model hunting this summer.
    Those MPC profile series kits were great. My brothers and I built many of them. I think my first was the F4U-4 Corsair.
    I would personally build the Norseman in WW2 markings as an homage to the great Glenn Miller. (Any chance those decals are for s/n 44-70285? That's the Norseman in which Miller perished.) My second choice would be the Connie. Why? Take one look at those beautiful lines and the question is answered.

    Like the MPC Profile Series, Revell had the 1/72 scale Collectors Choice Series in the mid-senties. Eight WW II fighters and eight WW I fighters. The MPC series was vastly more expansive, including jets, multi-engine bombers, fighters, and helicopters.

    I got the 1/72 MPC C-130 in Coast Guard markings with the crew figures and "bonus decals"-- but the decals were for an A-1 Skyraider, a B-25 and I think an F-86!
    The Profile Series were great and could be bought anywhere - especially the "drug stores." Having a choice of decals was something back then.

    Though your garage sale score IS hard to beat; this find has to be in second place! Not only did you find these vintage kits factory sealed, you even paid "period-correct prices" for them!
    To answer your question, if I were you, I would build the Monogram Cessna 180 first, as you seem especially stoked about that one. My second choice - if I were you - would be the Airfix Super Mystere B.2 in Israeli markings. (If you're feeling especially adventurous, you may want to consider making a later version with the extended tailpipe as shown in the photo you have at 7:01. This was done by the IAF in an attempt to protect the aircraft from heat-seeking missiles that homed-in on the exhaust.)
