Even if 4060 will be dirt cheap in the future, I'd still avoid them because they crapped out on the pci 4.0 x8 interface like on the rx6600's, forcing people to upgrade their rigs for a slight performance bump, but maybe that will make them even cheaper for the lack of desirability or smth...
@@dubment Yeah well, for gaming only a 4060 doesn't add up. A 4060 is good for streaming, supports 4-4k monitors, no current Ryzen GPU supports 4-4k monitors. 4060's are great for video editing and other professional applications.
Good relevant clip for todays builder / upgrader. Only thing I can add and its a potential gotcha, in the gravix card realm, if its specifically made for a brand. Where it might have the name you're looking for, but its a cut down version for their brand. The big "brand" may have lower power supply installed to save cents and request cut down GPU versions or cheaper materials inferior build. Id recommend doing a deep dive on a potential purchase of a s/h Gpu, check out reviews tear downs etc. Ensure there's no shenanigans in power limits or even frequency highs.
I’m amazed. I have a 1080 Ti in my desktop & I bought the GPU new from memory after they had been out a while & the price had dropped. It was quite a few years ago now, and I’ve thought about replacing it, but after seeing this, there is little point.
The 1080 Ti will always put a smile on any Tech-geek face. And financially, this GPU has been one of the few TOTL GPU's that has shown to be a solid investment. Less than $100 per year in depreciation, is staggering for a High End GPU. I mean, the RTX 4090 has already lost the total 1080 Ti MSRP on the used marked, from it's original sale pricing at launch.
My kid has the 3060ti paired with a 12600k. He plays games at 1080 and 2160. He also plays Blade and Sorcery VR on it. For what it’s worth, that gpu is clutch.
When I was about to upgrade my GTX 1660 my plan was to buy a 3060. A lot of people here on TH-cam asked me to take a look at the 6700 XT. Bought it and haven't looked back since.
Sold my 5700xt and basically paid for the 6700xt upgrade with a profit when those ridiculous prices during the bitcoin boom. Amazing card can even get a fairly enjoyable upscaled 4k experience at around 60fps in a lot of games if you're willing to optimise and drop a setting or two.
Still have an EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 installed and performing well at 1080P in my daughters computer (she plays Fortnite, COD, etc.). I originally got it on eBay really cheap about 5 years ago due to it being an ex mining card and it has not let me down yet.
1080Ti Still going hard! I'd take one over a 4060 with 8gb any day, it'll last much longer with the extra 3gb of VRAM. 8gb cards are already hitting their limit at 1080p native and 1440p requires much lower settings. Own a 4070Super now, but loved my 1080Ti. No real reason to go with team Green at this price bracket anyway. 4070 and up is where Nvidia matters.
Brian, obviously with this tier of cards you go with optimized visual settings but textures as high as VRAM allows so even on low settings you can often max out the textures with next to no hit to fps on the over 8GB variants in this video. That's why I see for example 3060 as a more desirable choice than 4060.
Yeah, i was confused between rtx 3060 12gb and 3070 8gb. But then i realize that i have never used over 8gb vram. I guess, im gonna sell my 3060 to get 3070 or perhaps even 3070ti. Tho, i dont feel like of seeing the gpu power consumption around 300 watts of 3070ti. So, perhaps i would rather love the 220watts of 3070.
Also, while epic settings/ultra settings might suck, if you want to mod older games, especially with plenty of high res textures, you might want to invest in more vram and performance. Especially with the likes of RTGI reshade and stuff which can improve the looks of older titles.
I currently have a 1080ti strix so recently I looked at the GPU market considering an upgrade, my budget only goes as far as a mid tier GPU, the marginal performance gain whilst spending a decent chunk of money was laughable, looks like i'll be holding onto the 1080ti til a decent upgrade for reasonable money appears.
Depends I just do a quick benchmark. If temps are good and slow to rise means paste is still ok. I find sometimes people have already repeated with high quality paste, so sometimes no need.
The thing about VRAM is that textures is usually what consumes the most VRAM and textures are also usually not very intensive in terms of pure computing/processing power. So it's still desirable to have lots of VRAM even on a low end card cause setting textures to max should make most games look decent enough without killing your framerates.
I'd love to get a top tier GPU but not with the ridiculous power consumption they currently have. Once they get their act together and can keep it under 200W I'll get one, dependent on the pricing of course as that seems to skyrocket too.
Right now there's a really good top spec card for sale on a major site . It's like 1/3rd of the usual price. Only thing is it's a waterblock gpu. No fans or heat sink. I'm not going to say the card or site because I plan on getting one lol.
You left out the best competitor: RTX 2080 Super. Decent RT plus you get DLSS. That should be the winner of this video in my opinion. The 2070 Super as well, really.
Rocking a 1080ti ftw3 and a techyes x99 v3 unlock with a heavily modded bios 2699v3 at 3.6ghz on all cores Runs great in everything at 1080p usually high settings and about 50 to 100fps
GTX 1080TI is still a great card for the money. I’ve got a 1080 in my second rig and a 2080 TI in my primary rig, and they are both doing great. Might upgrade once the 5000s come.

I just got myself a used rx 6700 xt x2 msi mech today for 170$ working good so far, I undervolted it to reduce the temps when playing from 70-75 to 55-60c 👍👍
RX 6700 XT user here. A strange issue I've come across that is rarely mentioned in the tech community is that some old games run quite poorly on this card. Falluot NV refused to run without older drivers. Crysis 3 (nonremaser) has performance issues, so does Witcher 2 and i'm sure there are more. It can be quite frustrating if you have a large steam library and like to replay old games. My old gtx 1070 never had these issues.
New AMD cards are not very well optimized for old titles that use DX9-10-11. The solution is DXVK. This basically translates DX9-10-11 to Vulkan and it can give you up to 30% more performance in these older titles, I highly recommend you use DXVK, you'll be amazed with the results! ;)

3060ti for 200$ isn’t a bad option. I know the 8gb isn’t great but it’s a decent jump over the 3060 and if you’re not wanting Radeon either the 3060ti or 3070 is the next logical step in performance when compared to the 6700xt.
My biggest gripe is everyone calling out the 1080ti as a goat still and the prices dipped for awhile there until everyone realized how good it still is and prices shot right back up. I was able to buy these for $100-130 now theyre all $200+
If you buy one, the best advice really is to buy one that has a good disassembly video on TH-cam, a popular brand, personally I would buy an EVGA just because. take it apart, clean it and re-paste/pad. if its a number of years old, then that's the worst thing wrong with it. re-paste it and get years more. Potentially it will run as new or close. unless its been mined.
The longevity of driver support should have an impact any decision if you plan on playing future games. The 1080Ti is not going to be supported forever.
I got a 2080 super for a very good price. It would also fit in this group of cards well. What a good purchase though. I dont need ray tracing and it runs at 55 degrees C in quite a few games
The reason why I want to Bottle neck a 4090 with my Ryzen 3. Is because the 1080ti is still so good today, imagine how long it's going to take for the 4090 to become obsolete, especially with all the GPUs that exist 'below' it. all the way from the 3080.. it will be at least 15 years when the 4090 is looked at the same way we look at the 1080ti today.. so if I came across that kind of cash, it would be a solid investment. then I just focus on upgrading my other components over the years and never once think about upgrading the GPU
I actually had a 11gb 1080ti on one of my rigs and swapped it for the 12gb 2060 and imediatly saw a performance increase. Compared to the 3060ti 12gb its like comparing night and day. I don't know how you can get these fps so close to one another. Well i play gta V, Starfield, Cyberpunk, Need for Speed Heat
The value of the 6700 XT/6750 XT is very hard to beat. Basically unstoppable for 1080p and a better option for 1440p than many other options for similar money because of the VRAM.
I am a firm believer that if you value performance over attributes (DLSS, Nvenc, RT), AMD is always the way to go. The driver support/updates is/are the worst, but after about 6-12 months, you really start to see the gains. RDNA and RDNA 2 are seeing major numbers compared to the RTX cards they released with.
The 2080 8gb is directly comparable to the 3060 12gb performance wise. Although less v ram it van be found for close to half the price. A 2080 super is better and the 2080 ti smashes the 3060.
What do you advise would be a good card for use on a higher end but older MB with a gen 3 pci slot ? Have looked at picking up an 8 gig 4060 but it wont be at full potential due to the older slot type.

4060 ti price wise compared to a 7800xt or 7900 gre no competition at all and rocks over the 4060 huge , those 2 AMD cards much better value then the 4060 ti in same price brackets

RX 6700 Xt is my pick. If you can live with a 10% performance penalty, it can be undervolted to use about the same power as the 4060. And it will have less wear n tear doing it, due to a stronger power and cooler design.
I had 1080 and it was very good. Now I have 6700xt overclocked to the bone. Core 2800mhz, vram from 2000 (16gbs effective) to 2150 with fast timings. Its from Sapphire and card is lovely. However, I am going to buy RTX 4080 Super after xmass. And I am sure, it will be another level...

I haven't seen a single dirty cheap Nvidia GPU in like... 5 years now.
@@elecman748 You get what you pay for
Good relevant clip for todays builder / upgrader.
Deym! I thought this is an old video new hair cut and a clean shave really do wonders lol looking good Bryan 😁
I’m amazed. I have a 1080 Ti in my desktop & I bought the GPU new from memory after they had been out a while & the price had dropped. It was quite a few years ago now, and I’ve thought about replacing it, but after seeing this, there is little point.
I have a Zotac 1080Ti AMP Version. On Full HD it works perfect✌️
Got an RX 6800 for $336 used recently. Pairs up well with my 5700x. Best deal so far and adrenalin software is insanely good!
wow, great to see my Sapphire Pulse 6700XT still rocks.
what exactly was the 1080 TI undervolted to.
1800mhz at 850mv peak. And memory usually is fine for 300mhz.
@@techyescity Thanks!
Very useful as I’ve been looking at the 1080 ti! I like the look of the msi cards!
is the 7500f a good pair with the 6700xt?
Yes.
Really good
I5-10600K is
I'm running an RTX 3060Ti and while I'd like a bit more for VR gaming, I'm not ready to upgrade to anything else right now.
The undervolt graph is really helpful for anyone going down the gpu rabbit hole.
My GTX1080Ti FTW3 is still going strong! Cost a bit when I bought it though [the price gouging going on in '18].
Glad I grab 4060. Best decision I have.
Still have an EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 installed and performing well at 1080P in my daughters computer (she plays Fortnite, COD, etc.). I originally got it on eBay really cheap about 5 years ago due to it being an ex mining card and it has not let me down yet.
Which one is drowning in the most Multipurpose spray? That one is best value.
You know the secret sauce for value
1080Ti Still going hard! I'd take one over a 4060 with 8gb any day, it'll last much longer with the extra 3gb of VRAM. 8gb cards are already hitting their limit at 1080p native and 1440p requires much lower settings.
Own a 4070Super now, but loved my 1080Ti. No real reason to go with team Green at this price bracket anyway. 4070 and up is where Nvidia matters.
5700 XT
I'd love to see a Power Usage benchmark. Which entry level GPUs are the most efficient, and rank them according to efficiency to FPS.
Just a thought.
Brian, obviously with this tier of cards you go with optimized visual settings but textures as high as VRAM allows so even on low settings you can often max out the textures with next to no hit to fps on the over 8GB variants in this video. That's why I see for example 3060 as a more desirable choice than 4060.
Great video! And yes, 6700xt is great for the money
Do you recommend always repasting the 1080ti's?
Depends I just do a quick benchmark. If temps are good and slow to rise means paste is still ok. I find sometimes people have already repeated with high quality paste, so sometimes no need.
The 1080 Ti is a pretty old GPU now, so changing the thermal paste can significantly improve temperatures and fan speed.
*You should run the Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark in those cards*
Right now there's a really good top spec card for sale on a major site . It's like 1/3rd of the usual price. Only thing is it's a waterblock gpu. No fans or heat sink. I'm not going to say the card or site because I plan on getting one lol.
You left out the best competitor: RTX 2080 Super. Decent RT plus you get DLSS. That should be the winner of this video in my opinion. The 2070 Super as well, really.
Would have liked to see the 7600xt here too!
Rocking a 1080ti ftw3 and a techyes x99 v3 unlock with a heavily modded bios 2699v3 at 3.6ghz on all cores
Runs great in everything at 1080p usually high settings and about 50 to 100fps
GTX 1080TI is still a great card for the money. I’ve got a 1080 in my second rig and a 2080 TI in my primary rig, and they are both doing great. Might upgrade once the 5000s come.
I bought an rx 6700xt for 70$, best deal of my life because the seller thought it was defective. Turns out he had driver issues and I made sure to use DDU for a clean install.
just snagged a 6700XT for $200 🙌
I just got myself a used rx 6700 xt x2 msi mech today for 170$ working good so far, I undervolted it to reduce the temps when playing from 70-75 to 55-60c 👍👍
Good price

RX 6700 XT user here. A strange issue I've come across that is rarely mentioned in the tech community is that some old games run quite poorly on this card. Falluot NV refused to run without older drivers. Crysis 3 (nonremaser) has performance issues, so does Witcher 2 and i'm sure there are more. It can be quite frustrating if you have a large steam library and like to replay old games. My old gtx 1070 never had these issues.
New AMD cards are not very well optimized for old titles that use DX9-10-11. The solution is DXVK. This basically translates DX9-10-11 to Vulkan and it can give you up to 30% more performance in these older titles, I highly recommend you use DXVK, you'll be amazed with the results! ;)
Great vid
Where can I find your used under volt settings?
1080 ti used prices in australia are OTT high still. Sold mine for $500 last year and they are still up there.
At the end of the day which ever gpu you purchase, as long as you get a vg deal on the price and it does what you need it to, thats all that matterrs :D !!!
the 1080ti is the gift that keeps on giving
GTX 1080Ti still holding 👍
2080 super for $200 or less is also appealing.
the 8gb is the problem
2080 Super is basically a 1080 Ti with less VRAM, so nah.
@@josephlozano7792 zotac sells a refurbished 2080 super for 233 and a refurbished 1080ti for 188, if you even have the hint of getting the 2080 you should have your pc building license revoked.
@@Dhruv-qw7jf Nope. 2080s is a bit faster plus you got DLSS support (rt not mentioned , doesn't matter anyway ) But 1080ti is cheaper with more vram which makes it relevant still to this day .
Both cards get driver support.
2080 super also has Nvidia Broadcast super useful for creators that are recording in a basement while washers are going.
I don't see it wrong to go with 6700XT for $300ish having 30% more real performance without relaying on DLSS or generated frames to get there
3060ti for 200$ isn’t a bad option.
I know the 8gb isn’t great but it’s a decent jump over the 3060 and if you’re not wanting Radeon either the 3060ti or 3070 is the next logical step in performance when compared to the 6700xt.
4060 for cheapest usage cost ^^
My biggest gripe is everyone calling out the 1080ti as a goat still and the prices dipped for awhile there until everyone realized how good it still is and prices shot right back up. I was able to buy these for $100-130 now theyre all $200+
RTX 4060 wins for me with that low power consumption & fps according to that power consumption ❤ 6:04
I think you should have included the 5700XT in the benchmarks. It would make a great comparison.🙂
Imo the 1080 is slowly getting a time bomb also
Resell value of a 6700 or 4060 will be way better in 3 years
The longevity of driver support should have an impact any decision if you plan on playing future games.
Basically unstoppable for 1080p and a better option for 1440p than many other options for similar money because of the VRAM.
chuffed with my rx6800 recently purchased used & my other half's 4060 TI works well on pcie 3.0
6:03 Is that supposed to say Direct GPU Monitoring
very happy with my 6700 xt red devil
Was the Rainbow Six Siege tested on DX11 or Vulkan ?
The 2080 8gb is directly comparable to the 3060 12gb performance wise. Although less v ram it van be found for close to half the price. A 2080 super is better and the 2080 ti smashes the 3060.
Currently rocking a 6700 XT in my travel rig playing at 1440p i’ve never had an issue playing anything I wanted to play
What do you advise would be a good card for use on a higher end but older MB with a gen 3 pci slot ? Have looked at picking up an 8 gig 4060 but it wont be at full potential due to the older slot type.
Its just criminal to see gtx 1080ti still keeping up with the rtx 4060. just shows you how your getting ripped of with these new cards. keep your old cards people :) am still rocking rx580 8gb :)

I did some testing recently with a 4060ti V 6700XT and i found the 4060Ti beat the 6700xt in battlefield 2042 , Warhammer Dark tide and Helldivers. That gain was 10 to 20% with the nvidia card. but the 4060ti did cost 40 Euros more than the amd card.

All motherboards will accept any GPU on the market.
Where you may run into problems is your case. Make sure it fits your case.

RX 6700 Xt is my pick. If you can live with a 10% performance penalty, it can be undervolted to use about the same power as the 4060. And it will have less wear n tear doing it, due to a stronger power and cooler design.
idk if ive seen 982 likes to 0 dislikes since 2019; great vid
