No, PCC is usually valid for 6 months only. When you are applying for PR you should get a new one. If you are outside Indian at the time of applying for PR you can get it through the Indian Embassy in your Country of residence.

Thanks. Fees is Rs. 500 to be paid online while submitting your application. Once you submit your application you have to book an appointment to visit your nearest PSK centre. You don't need to visit the Police station.
PCC processing time vary for each individual and ideally it take 4 weeks.

You can apply for a Certificate of Birth through the Indian Embassy if you are outside India. You can also submit your School leaving certificate / School Transcript/report card and write a letter of explanation about not having your birth certificate.

@bhawna saluja Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is a must these days if you are traveling to a foreign country either for work or as a dependent. PCC is used to determine if a person could be granted a visa or not based on their criminal history (if they have one) by the foreign country.

You should choose Long term visa / stay if you are going as a dependent or if you are being sponsored. Hope this helps.

Hi i will make my pcc for the purpose of marriage and for that i need a bachelorhood certificate but my question is my passport will expire on Feb 2023 and i am getting married on September month so from that time my passport will be valid only for 5 months and for travelling to other country i need a passport with minimum validity of 6 months so on the pcc form and bachelorhood certificate can i use my passport no. which is hardly 5-6 months valid or after reissuing my new passport i need to apply with the new passport no. Your answer will be highly appreciated.
As long as you can show proof of your present address like DL, Aadhar card etc you can. If you are traveling abroad and no family member is residing at your permanent address, it's best to get your Passport updated with your present address first and then apply for PCC.

All PCC supporting documents must be submitted to the PSK Passport officer in person during your appointment.

No, you cannot apply for PCC on behalf of your brother. PSK will not issue PCC if your brother is not physically present during the appointment. Your brother must apply for Indian PCC from Canada. Yes, you can apply from any PSK in India, even if you are residing in another city in India.

@Maheshwari Konar You don't need to go to a Police station for PCC. After applying for PCC, you'll have to book an appointment with your nearest PSK (Passport Seva Kendra) and have to carry all necessary documents with you on the day of the appointment. A Passport officer will review your application and if a police verification is not required, will provide you a PCC the same day. If a police verification is required then you'll receive a PCC by mail (Postal mail)

Yes, PCC for immigration is separate from Passport Re-issue police verification. For Passport Re-issue you won't receive a PCC document only a new Passport. When you apply for PCC you'll get a certificate.

If you have to submit PCC for a foreign visa/immigration (to a foreign authority outside India), then you can apply for PCC from any PSK in India even if you are in a different state ad long as you have family/relatives residing in the address that is printed on your Passport who can verify your details during a police inquiry.

Hi, I have got a job in UAE and my employer asking for PCC. I checked the online appointment nearby but the date is available after 20 days. Is it okay if I do the PCC from the Police Commissioner and send it for the work permit. Is RPO can provide the same PCC and that would be valid for a work permit? Thanks!

No, PCC won't get affected if you have bank loan. PCC only get's affected if there is complaint against you in a Police Station.

You can still use your passport but for address proof, submit your Aadhar card / Indian Driver's License / Voter ID. You must be residing in the address you mention on your application.

If you are applying for PCC for USA visa then choose long term visa or stay. Depending on what document you'll provide as proof that you need a PCC you should choose that option. If it's immigration then choose immigration, if it's residence permit choose residence permit.

PCC from PSK is issued only for foreign travel. PCC from Police department is issued for jobs/employment purposes within India.

Once you submit your PCC application and pay the fee, a passport officer at PSK will verify your application on the day of your appointment. This is done in person for all Passport and PCC applications. You'll have to present your Passport, address proof and the reason you are applying for PCC i.e a letter showing your visa requires a PCC

The PCC issued shouldn't affect your visa. PCC is generic in nature and no matter what option you choose Residence Permit or Long Term Visa you'll get the same PCC report.

Hi Praveen, If your parents or relatives are currently living in the address that's printed on your Passport and can verify your Passport particulars during a Police Verification, then you don't have to apply for Passport Re-issue. If no one can verify your passport details at your old address then you have to apply for Passport Re-issue and get it rectified. PCC is issued based on your Passport details and as per Indian Passport act, you have to update your passport whenever there are changes to personal particulars (like address change, Marital status, addition of spouse name after marriage etc). If you provide a different address than your passport, your PCC application will be rejected and you'll be asked to apply for Passport Re-issue.

Thanks. Yes, you should choose long term visa as the purpose. In most cases where an applicant had their Passport Re-issued recently (within a year before applying for PCC) and have applied for PCC will receive PCC on the same day of the appointment (if you are applying through PSK in India). You should also take any necessary document that states you need to submit a PCC - like copy of a K1 visa requirements web page

If your grandparents are living in the address mentioned on your Passport and can verify your details during police verification, then you don't need to apply for a Passport Reissue. If no relative is currently living at the address mentioned on your Passport then, you must apply for a Passport reissue first and later once you receive your new passport you can apply for PCC.

I am from Maharashtra. I applied for fresh passport and done with procedure in Passport Seva Kendra. Now Police verification is remaining. I was told I will receive message for the same.

You don't need to apply for PCC. Police verification will be performed by default when you apply for a Passport.
After the appointment is scheduled ,is PCC given the same day .Please tell how PCC is given after going to PSK.
Once you submit all your documents supporting your application at PSK the Passport officer will check if your Passport was recently issued and if it was issued in the last 6 months then there won't be any police verification and you'll receive your PCC on the day of your appointment.
If your passport wasn't issued in the last 6 months, then there will be a police verification and you'll receive PCC by post within 3 - 4 weeks from the date of your appointment.

One mistake happened from my side while adding address details missed my house name balance details are correct (location and landmarks) is there any problem with this. Also uploaded an address proof (aadhar card) along with application.
It shouldn't be a problem as long as the house number and address is correct. You can also update the details when you visit the PSK on the day of your appointment.

It's the same but PSK only issues PCC for foreign travel. For job purposes in Indian you must apply for PCC from your State Commissioners Office.

You don't have to be in your hometown to apply for PCC. You can apply for PCC in Kerala and provide your permanent address as Chennai. Find out your nearest PSK center in Kerala and apply online for PCC.

@shiney thankachan Your PCC application should match your Passport details and you can apply for PCC from any part of India even if you are residing outside your state. If you don't have any relatives / Parents staying at the address mentioned on your Passport who can verify your details during a police verification, then you need to update your address on your Passport first before you apply for PCC.

That clearly states re-issue of passport IS REQUIRED ONLY for changing Personel or parent's names, DOB and place of birth, And re-issue of passport is NOT REQUIRED for applicants requiring changes in present address or addition of spouse name
"For applicants whose personal particulars such as Given name, parent's name, date of birth, place of birth in PCC application form are different than the Passport held, then they have to apply for re-issue of the passport with changed/current particulars as provided in the PCC application form and a fresh Police Verification report may be generated. For applicants requiring changes in present address or addition of spouse name (due to marriage post-issuance of passport), can submit present address proof document and marriage certificate and in such cases, change of particulars in the passport is not required."
@bala kumar I disagree, Your Passport is a National ID and a Police Clearance is required for either Foreign Travel / Study Visa / Work Permit / Immigration and all of them will require both PCC and Passport submission which requires you to provide the right address on your Passport as Passport is considered to be the most important document by foreign immigration authority. If you are not applying for PCC for Foreign Travel / Study Visa / Work Permit / Immigration then locally you can supplement your PCC application with present address proof different from the one on your Passport.

This is only going to be an issue if the foreign authority accepting your PCC thinks that you have different address. It's hard to say if it's going to create an issue for every Country where PCC is required for travel. Ideally, your passport address and your PCC should match as the foreign authority accepting PCC will only match document address with Passport and not with Aadhar card.

Applying for a Passport Re-issue will trigger a Police verification, so you don't need to apply for PCC. You can only apply for PCC if you have a valid Passport that's not expired.

No, he cannot apply through Passport Seva for PCC. If your husband is outside India at the moment, he must apply for Indian PCC through the nearest Indian Embassy. Since he is not a Indian Citizen, there will be a separate application form for Non resident Indian who can request a PCC

@Aneetta George You won't be able to edit details on your PCC application once it's submitted but you can ask the PSK Passport officer during your appointment, that you need to make a change to your application.

You can apply to any passport office in any state in India and provide you hometown address. That address must be same as the one on your Passport and during a police enquiry your family or relatives must verify your application details.

It's the same. You need to choose Study Visa instead of immigration under "Reason for requesting/applying for PCC" in your online application. PCC will take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.

No, you need to go to the nearest PSK, that you selected while creating your application. If the Passport officer at the PSK thinks a Police verification is required, then a police officer will visit the address you mentioned on your application to verify your application details.

This only happens if you recently applied for a Passport renewal or reissue and a Police verification was carried out within a year, then when you apply for PCC a police verification will not be performed. If a Police verification is required it might take 3 - 6 weeks to get your PCC.

No, you can submit your marriage certificate and any utility bills, rental agreement or spouses Passport if they have your present address on them.

Do a person need to submit original passport…if in another country, a copy notarized of passport will do. Does pcc do a stamp in passport?
If you are outside India, you must apply for PCC through the nearest Indian Embassy in your residing country. Look for your residing Country Indian Embassy website for the process to apply for PCC.
Only people residing in Indian must submit PCC application to their nearest PSK

Your relative can't get you PCC as the applicant has to go in person to a PSK in India. Yes, you need to send your original Passport to get your PCC. If you choose walk in then you can carry it with you to a BLS Center.
