Grew up on Vashon island near Seattle in the 50's where we went crabbing for Dungeness crab, and digging for geoduck and racking for cherry stone clams and then digging for razor clams, at the ocean using actual shovels not the clam guns. My Dad always felt it was more ethical to drop a crab into boiling water versus stabbing or ripping the legs off.
Is it bittersweet editing these videos of back in Oregon? You should come visit me here near Santa Barbara. I have good perch fishing near me. It’s a few videos back but my dad and I caught a lot of good sized perch!
When you were in Oregon did you ever fish the area right outside of Sunset Bay, I have seen that you like Coos Bay, but curious if you fished that area at all.

that was terrible! no Dungies there or if there were they were tiny, I would've moved to a different spot. I still think the Northern Calif snares work way better, plus the hawk is illegal to use in Calif.

Female crabs grow a little slower than males. But it takes 4 to 5 years to reach about 6inches.

Female red crabs are legal for retention in Oregon. (Female Dungeness are not)

Red rock crabs are an invasive species and there is no regulation on keeping females.
