That's an investment- I dig that Sportster reference on the back of the seat.
I purchased a 2012 Sportster '72' model last year when I heard they were discontinuing the air cooled engine Sportster after 66 years of production. One owner, 3,800 miles and taken care of.
Did I need another Harley? No but I'm smart enough to know when to invest in something.
That makes them a CLASSIC classic.
There might be a lot of Sportsters out there but most of them are abused or chopped up.
That's a sweet piece of history Ken.

What is this bike called? A panhead?

    • @missingremote4388
      @missingremote4388 ปีที่แล้ว

@Stanley Masterson it is called a sportster with an EVO evolution Harley-Davidson engine 1200cc or 73 cu. in.

I have multiple bikes and one of them is a Sportster 1200. I always got crap from Harley guys because it's not a big twin but in the not too distant future these things are going to be highly sought after, especially since they aren't making them anymore. It seems like people don't always see how great something is until it's gone. As Harley continues to move to liquid cooling and overhead cams, these sportsters will keep growing in value.

I plan on buying this exact model for 5000 with 28k miles on it. Is it worth it?

With the 4.5G tank and 40mpg, this bike has a 180 mile range. The worst thing about the newer Iron 48s is that silly 2.2G (88mi) peanut tank.

My 2006 xl1200l has 4.5 g tank as well and the factory says 52/45 but it's more like 48/41 ish. Either way I'm happy with that 🤙

It's so sad that HD doesn't make the Evolution Sportster anymore.

Theyll bring em back after people get tired of the 2 wheeled sofas. I see younger folks riding the other type sporsters. They really move out

I have a 2006 (last year for carbureted model) 1200 Low. I bought it in 2013 with 3700 miles on it. It was almost stock, except for aftermarket slip ons, an H-D backrest, hard leather saddlebags installed with Easy Brackets to make them easily removeable with a key, rear turn signal relocation kit to make room for the saddlebags, and chrome sidecovers. It has the white/black/orange paint scheme. I had to retune the carburetor to match the slip on exhaust, other than that it's still pretty much the way I bought it, and now has just over 32,000 miles on it.
I bought an almost like new almost completely stock bright yellow 2002 883C in 2021 when I found out the Sportster was being discontinued. Haven't ridden it much, I have it parked in my living room.

I bought the '09 XL1200 Custom brand new and I still just adore it and ride it all the time. What you said about mods is so true, you can get any parts you want for these bikes. My first mods were a stage one upgrade followed by Progressive shocks, Custom Dynamics Probeam LEDs, and about 100 other things over the years. Awesome machines, reliable as heck too.

That looked cool when you pulled in. The wheels appeared to go backwards with the large spokes. Bike looks like new.
Great channel. I came here for the bikes but dig your positive energy!
