  • Hi Everyone, so in this video I do a full transmission service on the ZF 6HP 26X gearbox, including Mechatronics seals. Bit of a task on the drive outside with the wind and rain...
    I use lifeguard fluid 6 form ZF
    ZF 1068 298 090 is the mechatronic seal kit
    ZF 1068 298 061 is the service kit with gasket, oil and filter as well new magnets and screws

    Dang man you're going to town with the car! I need more downtime to watch all this when my schedule calms down

      Yes, I am trying to get her into a good state and have her all clean. Most of life, I have had cars with loads of faults that I have worked around and often ignored. So I would like to get her nice and good and keep her clean (well cleanish).

    Wow, that didn't look that bad. You're making my todo list longer, but glad you are making these videos. There are going to be good reference. Side bar, fired up my QP yesterday from winter storage, rattled of course, but not bad, ran for about a half hour....itching to get it out... Cheers.

      I have to say I have run her a few times now and no rattling with the oil accumulator at all. In fact the starts are very smooth generally now. Have fun in the QP, now we seem to be past the worst of the icing/road grime I will feel happier no subjecting her to salt onslaught.

      Not bad, well just reversed my Volvo in and wrecked the tyre, could have been worse though, if that had been the Maserati, it would have damaged the rim too.

    Good lord.... It's lovely car, and you seem to be enjoying yourself, but all I can say is... nope...nope... and nope. I would run out of talent in about 10 min. Cheers from the shed

      Well truth be told, I seem to be having to do things twice and they seem to take me a fair amount of time.

    Put a magnet on the outside! Better than nothing 😂

      There are two and one is still in there, but I will not be fully happy with it till I put the other back in. So I will wait until it’s warmer and then book a place on a ramp for the day and just go do it.

    Are the last 5 digits of the VIN number the last 5 digits of the engine number? Where can I find the engine number?

    • @SailingSVPipedream
      @SailingSVPipedream  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have just looked in my service book and engine number and VIN is in there on first page. For mine the last five digits are very different so certainly on these the last five digits of the VIN are not the engine number.

      @@SailingSVPipedream thank you for your answer. I want to buy a Maserati Granturismo in the spring, so I'm eager to watch your videos. I also want to buy a car with improved variators, so with an engine number from 150070. So before buying I will have to lift it and read it on the plate.

      @SailingSVPipedream  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@quattroporte88 If it has the service record book, it is printed in there too. My oil accumulator seems to be working though, no noises yet! But if you buying and can find one that is past the magic engine number, then yes, makes sense! Just the parts are £1500 or so.

      That does not work as TH-cam will remove any likes, views and Subscribes. The algorithm then pushes the video down the list too.

    I thought those transmissions are sealed?

    • @SailingSVPipedream
      @SailingSVPipedream  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, Maserati said the oil was for lifetime, but ZF who make the box say 60.000 miles or six years. They really do need it too. The oil in mine was probably original and quite mucky. It is not really difficult to do and I think specialists do not charge much for the job so worth doing.
