I have a 2010 infinit qx56. The rear latch works 30 percent of the time. I had the dealer replace the rear lift gate motor and labor which cost $1800. It never worked right even when I paid to fix it. I had it Back several times and the problem still exist. The door latch seems to work when the gate is on its normal path so I didn’t think it was the latch motor. Would a faulty latch motor cause these problems?
Good video, thanks Chris! I love my 4X4 Armada LE that I bought new in 2005 and have taken very good care of. The only issue I continue to have is with the lift gate. In warm weather, when I try to activate the rear lift gate, it will start to open a few inches but will then beep 3 or 4 times and go back down. If I try again, and help it along, I can get it to go up to the top. The same thing happens in reverse when I try to put it down; It beeps and then goes back up. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I have replaced the 2 hydraulic struts so I know this is not the issue and have made sure that joints appear to be lubricated properly internally.
If not by the alarm key fob. You have to climb into the vehicle to access the emergency unlock handle on the hatch. From the inside of the vehicle look down and left to see a small removable door. Inside is a lever sticking out from the right. Push it up to unlock the hatch then go outside of the vehicle and use the normal door handle to open the hatch. With it open you can now replace the defective latch-motor assembly.

Hi! So if it's not latching on when it closes, either sometimes or always, then yes it's most likely the latch motor, as shown in this video.
