I remember when I first saw the Lord of the Rings with my aunt. After it was over, we couldn't remember the plot or a lot of what was going on because we were too busy watching Legolas and he was pretty much all we talked about that related to the movie once it was over.

Legolas' personality seems to be that he is perfect. And absolutely no one has a problem with this because no one wants to mess with perfection (Including me). Although it would have been more interesting if Tolkien had given him a few quirks, not an insane amount, like Merry and Pepin, but enough to make him more of an actual person and less of just an elf.
And in the book it is even more so. When they are crossing the mountains, if I remember correctly, he tells Gandalf that because, since he is a wizard, he doesn't use magic and melts the snow. And Gandalf gets upset and answers: "If you're an elf, why don't you go and bring me the sun?" To which Legolas jumps further up the mountain and returns after a while saying that he didn't find the sun, but he did find a place to rest.
