Really good video. Poor guy chasing a dream. Only thing I would offer is I think he meant when he said "I would burn the cards" he was referring to the credit cards. I use a credit card for everything. Then I pay it off before interest hits and get the cash back. I save it for a year and then have a bunch of free money end of year then toss that in my stock account
it's dumb to pay cash for anything. credit cards build credit and you should have a decent enough card to get cash back (or some other perk). plus you have some protection against getting scammed.
@@Caseshells123 I don't think anyone has problem with using credit like this. What we are really talking about are people who carry balances which is most people. This can happen in any business endeavors. I have seen a lot of small business suffer financial losses in my hometown and having to close. It’s so important to understand the market and not go in haphazardly and also be on the same page with your spouse and also business partner.
I just had to unload my $20k collection at 50 cents on the dollar because my family lost the house in the Asheville floods. It really sucked. We all have to hit reset sometimes.
Great video on the dangers of comic book collecting. I would never have returned to comic collecting if it meant using money that wasn’t 100% disposable income. However, I realize I’m in the minority on this issue among comic collectors. Too many people gamble with their income, hoping for a return on investment, but much like gambling, they end up losing.

The only time to sell to a shop is if your time becomes more valuable than the items you are trying to move. Sometimes it’s best to just cut the loss and move on and get the cash where you need/want it. But in this case probably not. That said a shop near me usually pays decent depending what you got.

You can't just "pick up" this hobby. The most successful and secured collectors have had the discipline since they were kids/teens from management of their personal collections. You running out to spend 26k on lottery doesn't make sense. If you want to build a collection it takes time not putting all the eggs in one basket.

Don’t know if anyone said this but what he’s talking about with the giveaways is in big pokemon seller streams they offer giveaway “donations”. You buy a booster box for the seller to give away during the show and the seller tells everyone in the stream to follow you. It’s a lose lose situation and makes absolutely no sense to do. You can’t buy an audience. Unless you’re already rich, you can’t.
