Very good review, except the issues you mention that happen under 1500 miles. After 1500 miles, the engine and throttle settles in and the experience is different. I own it for 6 months and around 3500 miles, the Advanced version, the issues you mention are long time gone. All that you mention happens only before correct break in. Soon after break in, everything is different and I recommend you to connect it to a 5G wifi network and do all updates, the last update fixes a lot of things. Also the middle button on 800NK Advanced has vocal comand function. I look forward for next review after 6 months.
Well, I hope you're happy now. I just got back from the dealer after watching this video. I now own an 800NK. They're closing out the '24's so I got it for $6,100 (plus dealer markup 🤕). Looking forward to a modern bike after my '02 Honda Sabre. Seriously, thanks for the reviews on CF Moto.
Yeah i just got mine out the door for 8000 delivered 100 miles away 😂
You described the neutral throttle weirdness perfectly. My CLX-700 does the same thing. In town, I switch between eco and sport as often as I shift! Oc!
My thoughts exactly. My 700 has the exact same and IIRC it's in the actual tune mapping.
You need to look up Main Street Cycle the tune will fix the issue. They have videos of them on their channel. Really great guys.
I just leave it in sport (2023 clx 700 sport) but i am either a gear higher than one would expect, or a gear lower than one would expect. I put on 5k miles in 4 months with mine. Absolutely love the CLX700 sport. The riding position is so comfortable and the power is more than enough for cruising and with the Firetorch midpipe and exhaust, she barks!
Ride safe, stay blessed.
I changed the fuel i used. I started using recreational fuel and most of that throttle jerkiness went away for me.
Team MSC has a tune for every cf moto, $400 and it fixes all the throttle problems, increases hp and mpg, and increases the RPM ceiling by 500-1000rpms.
Main Street Cycle has a tune that fixes the issue. You can even order a brand new ecu with the the tune already installed and you get to keep your original.
Great review mate.
The neutral throttle has something to do with their tuning, it happens when you use cruise control, too. I've had my 800NK for 700 miles now
The throttle issue could be because of a sensor, in my Trident 660 it was a defect that was corrected by changing an air hose for a sensor and that did the trick. Maybe this bike needs service about something similar and that fixes it. I am not sure that reprogramming will correct that issue, reprogramming will probably correct responsiveness and power but not that jerkiness.
I wonder if the new 675SS that’s coming out is going to have this same issue.
I attended a CFMOTO demo day about a month ago. I was able to ride 6 different bikes and went on 7 rides. I disliked this bike the most because of the throttle. It was very twitchy. The rides were about 25 minutes each so I was able to switch through every mode on the bike. The IBEX 800 is a much smoother bike which I'm assuming shares the same engine, I liked the IBEX so much I took it out for a second ride. There must be an issue with tuning on the 800NK.
I have ridden 800 nk in Australia no throttle problems with it must be tuned different for the us market?
These 800NK's are selling near me on sale right now for $6,500 plus tax and title. I wish I was in the market for one lol.
Same thing with me for the blinker, the switch is sticking out too long, wish it was shorter😂
I’m looking at either getting the Duke 790 or the NK, I’m steering towards the NK. My issue is, when you pull up to the traffic lights and that other bike there, or arrives, is a Duke 790, will I feel awkward. I have a R1 just now and I don’t mind any bike pulling up next to me. I hope these bikes became up there with the others. I like it. Test riding both in couple of weeks.
"My bike doesn't like to be casual. I specifically requested it."
- Chase Probably.
Please make a review of CF Moto 675 SR.
The only solution that I have found is, smaller sprocket on the engine. OEM is 16 tooth, I dropped to a 15 tooth. I have 4,600 miles. Yeah I have considering trading in because of this consitant throttle issue. I love this bike but "tiny little thing ruins you". I agree.
I experience the same exact issue with the throttle with my clx 700. I suppose CF needs to work on their firmware or something.
CFMoto's making KTM engines for their 790.. hoping this one's not getting the unfortunate camshaft situation from KTM
MJTech talks of a throttle fix for IBex. Might work for NK also.
When I test rode it, my hands are smaller and blinker was perfect. I think it's a "smaller to bigger " rider problem for the controls. if you have big hands, you will struggle.
yeah my duke 790 doesnt have that power dip, so thats really weird lol
my 2023 duke did that jitter stuff also but stopped when i changed the exhaust.
Maybe I’m the weirdo here, I sort of love the jerky feel on it. Starting from shiting myself till falls in love with it. 😅
I want to see CFmoto 800 ibex vs KTM 790 adventure.
2024 800NK is out the door for $8k now so good price for what you get😂
Prayers for the camshaft.
I have the same problem on my 650nk
Cat delete power drop at 4K is gone. Just hit 1k miles on mine.
I had a feeling there was a work around. Thanks for letting us know!
I also have a "sport cat" I don't have the 4k issue. It's smooth now
@@chaseontwowheels a cf moto tech on Reddit told me the tune was never for the emissions of NA (aka the catalytic converter). It was just to meet emissions. Also my jerky throttle at a constant pace, rarely happens now. It also backfires like crazy when it does it so it’s enjoyable.
What does this mean?
@@chrisgerrardable catalytic converter was added to pass N.A. emissions without the ecu tune being optimized. The car restricts exhaust and therefor effects back pressure resulting in the issues he talking about. I bought a cat delete pipe which solved this issue for me and only took 10 minutes to swap out.
Im struggling with choosing this and the 8s. I like how both of them ride, but the brand (CFmoto) is shunned by bike industry.
Do the KTM 790 Adventure
Definitely want to know more from this Brand in particular UTVs and ATVs actually but yes anything that thinks it's better than a Honda Supercub has my interest😊😊
Its wild youd pick another bike over this because of the throttle. The tune from team msc is $200 now... it fixes everything and adds 5+hp and 5+ tq
I miss yummir6
There's a dealer near me selling this thing for $6895 brand new
One where I am selling one for $4999 brand new right now which sounds great but I just don’t really want one :(
Yeah I've seen the same price range. It's like 5% tempting because it has a good amount of power
@@trunktoyz fr. I don't even like naked bikes but I'm kinda tempted
Go for it I'm almost at the 600 mile break in really good bike I love it rarely get that Jerky feeling
@@marcosceja3751 we'll see but I'm really on the lookout for a nice used RS660
Get er tuned
So low price price need for a tune makes it equal to the cost of a Suzuki GSX 8S. Considering Suzuki has a long history of reliability and CF Moto is a newer Chinese brand, it is a hard pass for me. You get what you pay for, right?
When you don't know what your talking about
Same with the NK650 very jerky when you want to ride casual.
Oc: First
I definitely prefer a cable throttle, I hate when some computer program haunts a vehicle and opposes the rider or driver.
Does this have the “self-detonating” KTM engine? If so, I would rather something reliable.
They're not just dumping ktm engines in these bikes, the engines have been co developed
it is the same engine but with different material used to make the engine. the power has been detuned to make less hp, and the cylinder block is reenforced with hardened alloy, save you the issue like ktm. Alot of the engine internals and also the gears are supplied from japanese partners. It is just ktm in engine design, internally they are all not ktm manufactured. however ktm parts can be exchanged with this engine
Calimoto is not useful in the UK. I will cancel my subscription when it expires. You can't detour when there is a roadblock. The app will reroute back to the same place with the roadblock.
