  • The end of the road is near for those notorious, heavily modified, 'ricer' Honda Civics. In today's market, an original, factory stock-standard, OEM example is now a very desirable proposition and is considered as 'hot property'. These stock 90's Civic hatchbacks are now fetching for more than that of a tastefully done up example... In this video, we discuss and find out why this is the case.

      Worked at an acura dealership. 4 door '00 GSR. Old lady owned. Was well under 100k. Garage kept. Supermarket, church and pharmacy driven. This one service advisor was constantly up her ass about it everytime she came in.

    You're right about the enjoyment of a stock civic! They're more of a driver's car, without the technology to take over. Was lucky enough to find a manual 99' coupe last year. Always fun to drive!

      Picked up a 99 hatch last year. Also had a 370z which I sold recently just because I have so much fun with the Civic. Then a few months later my buddy just got a b18c integra 95, and his brother traded in his Supra to get an s2000. There is just something about driver feedback and feeling, you cant get with new cars. Now we cruise the old schools, our wives don't get it, but that is the fun in a project right?

  • @7eamGhast
    @7eamGhast 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Picked one up last year, it has been such a joy to work on and modify, I've been mainly buying used parts and everything to bring it back to 100% completely stock. I scored a set of first generation ADVAN RG in white, hopefully getting the tires mounted today. The car is slow but that is what makes it fun to drive "fast".

    I've always appreciated stock 90's civics, they so cool and fun in their stock form too.
    I drive a 98 civic coupe since I couldnt get a hatchback, but to be honest I've fallen in love with it, and instead of focusing on performance I've been focusing on restoring it and properly maintaining it, it's relatively easy and more affordable compared to other cars I think, and I've learned a lot working on it. I owned a turbo golf before and while those care great and lightweight, theyre more delicate cars and I couldnt keep up with the maintenance since I'm on a thight budget rn. I had fun modifying and generally building my old car, but I'm enjoying my honda a lot.

    Found my Mrs a 96 gli auto with 72,000kms in dark amethyst Pearl and it's such a beaut. Planning to restore the paint in near future and it'll be basically back to it's stock glory. Intend to keep it stock until she gets her full license and planning to only do handling mods. With 450kms on a full tank, it's been a breeze dailying it.
    Yes it's underpowered and yes my Mrs never rings it out but I'm happy to say that this EK will probs become a granny spec car because she intends to keep it that way forever.
    I've love to appreciate the stockness of it and it's such a nugget that we intend to maintain preserve the way Honda meant it to be.

    Grabbed a stock 96 dx here in America this summer, certainly not as clean as that one quite a bit miles on her. One of the best decisions I've made, even with the auto transmission, the double wishbone suspension makes it so fun to flick around corners 😄! Honestly sometimes I feel like I'm having more fun driving fast in a slow car rather than fast in a fast car

They’re awesome little cars, I’ve since put a type r style wing and some DHS wheels on it. Love to see a video like this on a stock civic, just a timeless design and like you say so much fun to drive, just cruising around town with all the little rattles of seat belts and road noise from the small amount of sound dampening make the drive super unique and makes you very connected to the car. About to go get one tomorrow for 3k (in my area that’s cheap) also starting a new job so wish me luck! Edit: got the car and quit the job. Getting a new job soon💀 I’m trying to get carbon parts to replace the side mirrors, hood and hatch. I need to replace a few engine components or swap it for a k20(my ideal engine for “mo powa”)
