It boggles my mind that these people think that EU or USA is less corrupt or that the European and American oligarchs have less power than Russian oligarchs. If anything, probably American oligarchs have more power than Russian ones since they control the government by funding politicians. However you define 'democracy', I can assure you that what we have in "the West" is just as repressive and possibly less representative of the ordinary people's will than Russia. Georgia needs to consider what is the best course for Georgians and not let either Russia or USA/EU have too much influence on its policies. The politicians and leaders need to first consider what the effects will be for the Georgian people, and do what best increases their wellbeing and livelihood, not what benefits Russia or EU/USA or oligarchs.

Your ignorance is astounding. Whatever you want to believe, the West is much more free, more fair and less corrupt than Russia. The West is obviously not perfect, but Georgians have overwhelmingly chosen the direction of progress and that is towards the Europe, not the authoritarian hellscape that modern Russia has become.

@@BestOfBothBoy May I assume you live in Russia, since you are so sure what life is like there? My friends and family paint a rather different picture. I live in "The West", and I know how corrupt and authoritarian my government is. I have only to read mainstream and alternative media to know that USA politicians are pretty much bought by the American oligarchs, and their media is owned by them - which is why one needs to check 'alt-media' to find any news or ideas that do not align with the "authorities".
As for the Georgians, no, they have not "overwhelmingly chosen the direction of progress...towards Europe". the last government they voted in has chosen to try to work with Russia and the EU, which is probably best for Georgia. Any country that truly wants to be free and sovereign needs to outlaw American NGO's, or at very least, make them register as foreign agents.
