Perhaps in answer to Jesus's question that studio recording on Shades is a rare occasion where Cale got Leon's Wrecking Crew session-mate Carol Kaye on bass and she is the one who could do most justice to this tune\track. And from watching the documentary online of The Wrecking Crew Carol Kaye took all that session work she shined on cuz she didn't like to leave home for the road. Not to say other wondrous bass players like yours, and y'all should provide some names for those of us who don't play the Book of Face, couldn't bring their own spirit and finesse to that singular session with Ms Kaye, queen of innovative and slinkily grooved bass harmonics. Call her the domesticated version of Jaco Pastorius!
