  • Here I discuss how your dryer hose may be the cause of the airflow restriction issues with your clothes dryer.
    Upgrade to a semi-rigid hose for better, more efficient airflow.

    Great idea replace the duct work then call you to clean it. You are hired!

    That’s a lot of great information I needed. Two duct cleaning companies I hired refused to go on the roof to check it. I finally had to get roofers to do it and they replaced the roof vent with a bigger one. I’m also adding rigiflex transitional hose inside. Great informative video. Thanks.

    Good information! We are wrapping up a laundry closet renovation and we used the old slinky hose as you call it previously, but our new LG Washtower came with an 8ft semi-rigid hose which I'm going to use in our utility room, and a rigid duct on the interior since it will be visible inside of the house... and it's all around better just more work to install it, and a little more expensive overall but not too much. Rather do things right than cheap out.

    This information was very helpful and confirms my decision to purchase a semi-flex hose, particularly since the dryer connection is less than a foot from the vent in the wall (when pushed into place.

      Me too, the foil gets brittle and when it is re adjusted the foil tears easily.

    For the compressable semi-rigid transitional hose, would you recommend CUTTING it to size to shorten the length? or would you simply recommend making the connection and then compressing the hoes to be as short as possible to the vent?

    The slinky is the wrong choice because its flammable.

    Don't have Dryer Flex in CA. Can you recommend a good brand that can go under the crawlspace.

    While it doesn't have the deep ridges of the foil, the dryerflex interior looks pretty rough and is far from smooth. Isn't it also just as prone to trapping lint?

    • @planetduct6663
      @planetduct6663  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have found less lint than when the slinky hoses were attached. Also because it is semi-rigid, it stay straight and is not prone to developing S-Bends that restrict airflow.

    dryers should have vent up top

    The problem is getting a 4" dryer hose to fit onto a 4" wall outlet duct. Even that math sounds problematic.

    • @tigeraceray2757
      @tigeraceray2757 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thats what the crimped ends are for on the dryer and the rigid tube going to the wall vent. Hose clamps on each end and foil tape. Crimped ends will end up being just a bit narrower than 4", like 3.9". Just small enough to fit two 4" ducts together tightly with the hose clamp and some tape.

    Brandon I'm trying to replace this foil flexible hose, it has ripped and I have wire exposed on this hose. I've tried tin snippers and small wire cutter. I still can't cut the wire!!! Any suggestions?

    Can the Dryerflex 8' be cut down to size? Let's say the run is 5' or 6' and the shorter version (4') is too short. Thanks.

    • @planetduct6663
      @planetduct6663  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it can. When we run out of the 4 foot ones, we cut 8 foot hoses down.

    • @planetduct6663
      @planetduct6663  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it cuts down very easily.

    Eh, ill stick with my flexi duct. I put in a homemade inline fan/ cleaner/ leaf blower on the ducting connected to a switch by the drier... since the location is a long haul to the outdoors. Before every load i flip it on and wait for the "thoomp" then start my load.. it blows out all the water thats collected and clears out the dryer and vent pipe.. if something decides to make a home inside than isually sunday is their eviction day.. but their welcome to make a home every week in it..

    • @dregenius

      If your dryer vent is a "long haul", maybe it's time to think about whether the whole concept of a vented dryer makes sense in 2020 and on - an appliance that guzzles down 6,000 watts of electric heat, and blows it out of a 4" hole in the wall... *zero* percent efficient, basically... In fact, vented dryers are so disastrously inefficient that they've been illegal in Switzerland for decades. But America? Just burn more fuel! Not like the next generation will need it! 😂😂😂

      You've probably already found what you need, but just in case, the duct is an aluminum semi-rigid duct. good luck with your future project!

    Maybe too rigid for a dryer with a really tight fit behind it

    • @dm5129
      @dm5129 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yea, hadn't thought of that. I'll have to measure it when it is compressed, but if it kinks and is so rigid it can not bend in some ways than that would not work.
