For the compressable semi-rigid transitional hose, would you recommend CUTTING it to size to shorten the length? or would you simply recommend making the connection and then compressing the hoes to be as short as possible to the vent?

I've always worried about the cats falling down one of the vents while the covers have been off for whatever reason. This is good information because I know that I would freak out and not think to do these simple life saving steps right away.

Dude hardly anyone on my state has a through the roof dryer vent. And there is a commercial grade drill attachment that doesn't break and is $600 that I use and after 22 years still has yet to break. No ladders no pneumatic nonsense. I suck up what I pull out which is also a good "show" for the client before I vacuum it all up. Who taught you to clean ducts as they saw you comin

Always confused about duck tape versus duct tape. Then I read an article that explained that duck tape was actually called “duck” tape from the beginning of its invention. It was never called “duct” tape. It was never meant to be used for air ducts. So the confusion is people like me thinking that they were hearing duct when people said duck. And I used to correct other people when they said duck tape. I would tell them “no it’s ‘duct’ tape”. I did this for about 20 years until I read this article that proved me wrong. 😂

This information was very helpful and confirms my decision to purchase a semi-flex hose, particularly since the dryer connection is less than a foot from the vent in the wall (when pushed into place.

How much would a truck like that cost

I do dryer vent service in Southern California and homes in several housing developments I have been in were constructed with 4 inch ABS plastic drain pipe. They used this material because they ran the duct through the concrete slab the house is built on. Dryer vent code today specifies 4 inch smooth galvanized duct only.

Will I be ok if I dropped a mini pencil in my vent you can Clearly see it in my vent and it is on the top part of the vent

Great video. Problem is I can't find an oval to round adapter that actually fits over or inside my dryer duct in the wall.

It generally poses no risk at all, especially if it's underneath the house. You can also paint to encapsulate it.

Duct tape the connections

I got a brush stuck in my dryer vent and then got it out with a coat hanger. Lol, worth every penny I saved not hiring a useless contractor.

Well, they were supposed to be pro's when they built my house, but everything they did on my hvac was wrong, and just like you're saying, all that duct tape they used fell off it leaked like a sieve I was in construction for 40 years and have seen it all I don't trust any one to do a good job anymore they even used a gutter down spout for my dryer vent so it was very hard to clean my dryer I opened up the wall and replaced it with a round pipe used for dryers they left felt off my tile roof in several places I found plugs in my house where they cut the the neutral wire to short and used the copper ground instead I don't trust the inspectors they get paid off I would suggest anyone that needs to hire a contractor watch them close go look at their jobs they did look them up check there reviews

Technically it's cloth tape, but people started incorrectly using it on air ducts and the name stuck.

Ever since removing the screen, birds come and build a nice nest in the rooftop exhaust hood. These cheesy hoods have cheap flapper door designs that either don't fully close, or are easy enough for birds to lift up and get in. So, my question to you, is there a good quality hood for the roof with a flapper that closes properly?

He's wrong. We use duct tape fir all ducting work. Yes one ca use metal tape, but DUCT TAPE is fir all duct work, including metal to mylar ducting, such as wyes, couplings supply and return registers. I apologize if getting to technical. Put simply . DUCT TAPE FOR DUCTING AND METAL TAPE AROUND HOTTER SURFACES.

It's hard to remove any tape Duct or metal. Be patient. But. See my previous post. If it's for ducting use DUCT tape. . If it's for metal exhaust flues, use Metal tape.......

He is so wrong. It's called DUCT tape for a reason. It's used fir ducting and will last for years Like over 20 years. Metal tape is used for hotter surfaces like water heater and furnace metal flue piping. He should be banned from any social media. (is being paid by the metal tape industry).

HOW TO GET IT TO FIT. Like others, I had trouble getting this adapter to fit into the rigid oval duct coming out of the wall. Whoever installed the dryer mangled the heck out of the oval end trying to get the standard 4" round flexible dryer duct to fit (and it wasn't even connected securely). Nothing was going to fit onto that mess and I didn't want to cut open the wall to cut away the damaged portion of the rigid ducting. I ended up straightening out the end of the rigid duct as best as possible using flat pliers, then buying a 4" diameter round aluminum duct connector from the big box store; it had one crimped end and one smooth end, and cost about $7. I was able to bend/squish the crimped end up into the mangled oval ductwork, and used some silver metal dryer tape around the outside to make sure that it stayed put. Then I had the nice, clean open end of the connector to work with, which slipped easily over the top of the plastic adapter and clamped into place with no problem in 2 seconds. I suppose I could have ditched the plastic adapter altogether, but my laundry closet is really tight with no room to easily maneuver the dryer to disconnect clamps. I liked the side buttons on the plastic adapter that would allow me to remove the hose from the wall quickly, while lying/hunched over the top of the machine like a gremlin, without any tools. So, for an extra $7, I now I have the benefit of a super easy connector for whenever I need to disconnect or clean the dryer vent. Hope that helps someone.
