Music itselt is such a powerful social influencer not even the Grammys can ignore. And I think the driver for the disillusionment among the "more seasoned" among us is about learning this & having to take some time recovering from the shock of that disillusionment until the music itself can be heard & appreciated again.
If the Grammys was instead a dance hall where the latest up & coming country acts could play and the audience could dance in the round and have a great time then there wouldn't be a shock it would all have been obvious from the get go...

Every year the Grammy’s proves itself more irrelevant than the previous year.

Gave up on the Grammys years ago sad to say they rarely play music genres I enjoy or recognize bands that actually deserve it especially in rock I tend to watch TH-cam suhr party videos for my fix of great guitarist yourself, Ian thornley, and Pete thorn jamming out you and Ian doing control was just amazing as we’re all the band. But hey I’m an older dude love guitar rock.

Why Beyoncé won country album over Chris Stapleton in never know. Her album was 90% pop.

A couple of the choices for winners made no sense to me at all for certain categories . ! and . . . I wish I could play half as good as Andy !

Best part was the tribute to Quincy Jones, with Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock.

Would love to see you at Pine Knob in Clarkston MI. As for the Grammys, haven't watched it in years. It's so political and the record companies pick who the winners are. And the winners are all fake. Autotune singers who can't really sing. Mostly computer pop except for country music. Honestly, it was just Beyonce's turn. That whole thing was joke.

No excuse to not have John Sykes mentioned. They had plenty of time. Just another reason why you wouldn’t catch me dead watching the Grammys

Do you use a para or graphic EQ on your digital rigs? Mind sharing the frequencies you're boosting/cutting if you do? I seem to always end up sounding too honky. Love the channel and of course your amazing skill! Thx!

I don't mean to speak for anybody here, but man there aren't really any specific frequencies anyone could give you in this context that would give you what you need, because you're talking about using EQ to correct something, and it's impossible for someone to know what to correct if they can't hear the source. However, in very broad strokes, if by "honk" you mean an overall EQ signature with a narrow section of mids that are too pronounced, the best thing you can do is find where those mids are, and use post-eq to scoop them a bit. Everybody says "guitar is a midrange instrument" and while that's true, you don't have to sound like a megaphone playing through an AM radio. Don't be afraid of the scoop, but scoop responsibly. Alternatively, if by honk, you mean you have a kind of always-on-half-cocked-wah sounding thing going on, that's a bit trickier because that indicates there's a low cut earlier in the chain somewhere, and since you can't add back what's been cut away, you'd need to find what's cutting your lows and reduce the effect of whatever that is, if you can. Drive pedals can often be the cause of this. Good luck!

@ I was just looking for frequencies to cut/boost as a starting point. I just started using a parametricEQ recently. Never use EQ with my tube amps. I realize every guitar, rig, player and tone is unique to the player. Thanks for your advice, appreciate it.

@@stanesposito2664 If you REALLY just want something quick and dirty to try and tame some honk, try scooping some mids in the amp's loop around maybe somewhere between 600Hz - 2kHz or so, with a wide Q. You should be able to turn the freq knob while you play to really find the problem area. If that doesn't do it and you use a Drive pedal, try turning it off and see if the tone still has too much honk. If that's the problem, I'd look at changing out your drive pedal.

I agree that there were some great musical performances, but those nominations, categories and awards............... man, I just don't know what to say. And why not just re-name something things, like breakthrough artist instead of new artist. One of the "new" artists already released 7 albums. Ever since the Tull and Milli Vanilli disasters, I just don't see the cred.
