Andy hits it right in the gut every time! So much of it is relative. My 2 gigs a month in the brewery circuit is awesome by my standard; I take it very seriously with rehearsal and equipment, it’s a scaled down Shiprocked!! But it’s my little ship and she gives me great joy!
I am 70 going on 19. Still having fun working and playing gigs , but do feel a little age discrimination from some people. Andy , you are wise beyond your years !
this was a profoundly awesome lesson. I needed this today, sicker than a dog. had to cancel a gig, something NO ONE ever wants to do. I'm excited to rest up and crush this weekends gigs. Thanks Andy.
Andy, thanks for so many tresure information. And the song you play at the end....built so inteligent, your frazing, sound, that solo with pitch shifter. I was listenig several times today i i can tel you it kicked my ass .So much inspiration. After today i know what i have to do. Thanks
Good wisdom, Andy! You’re an amazing player! My journey started in the early 70’s, wanting to be a “Rock Star.” Did my first bar gig at age 16. Three years later I came to know Jesus after constant drug use in the 70’s. So, my guitar trajectory changed, and I ended up playing guitar in churches for over 35 years, and continue to do so now at age 66. Over the years I developed a reputation for being ready, on time, and a team player. My phone rang off the hook all those years for church gigs. I’ve also done some session work over the years for albums and commercials, etc. I do have pro gear which I’m known for. All my gigs over the years just came to me without any marketing.
Hi Andy, Great show today! I highly agree with your work ethics. It is a mind set,as well as being positive while gambling on yourself. I think that it's great to hear the reality of it. Your right all the way around. Thank you so much for all that you do! 💫😇🎸
This man is such a class act. Honest, inspiring, and a fantastic talent. I am not a Patreon subscriber of yours... but your honesty and demeanor in this video have changed all of that. Thank you for being you! I hope to learn more from you. I love your content, even if that's not you main gig. This dude's got come chops. Thank you seems so underwhelming, but from the heart, thank you!
I’ve been telling all my musical friends about you, Andy. You are all of my favorite players wrapped in one. Which makes you my favorite now. I’m curious if you’ve been inspired by Michael Lee Firkins?
Excellent video! While I've never been a "career musician" I've been semi-pro for over 30 years. It's been a great steady "part-time" job that I take seriously and get paid fair wages for (I never play for wings and beer per se). What's kept me from making the full-time leap? The financial uncertainty...no steady pay check. Also, the business side of simply hustling for gigs can be exhausting when dealing with difficult or shady bookers.
Yo Andy! Huge (new) fan.. live show was excellent. I started playing in the early 90s.. heavily influenced by Eddie, Zakk, and Stevie Yourself and Richie Kotzen are my new “go tos” for listening and influence.. thanks! You and R K should do a show together!! 👍
I play at local Pubs and stuff and make 100 to 200 units of my local curency (COP) which is like 30$ a gig haha And it is hard to get better gigs, but from time to time something decent comes to me I have 22 and i have been in working with musico for close to 2 years now, i guess with every year that goes by i will have better gigs as long as I stay consistent
My mentor Kevin D Berg (RIP) taught me that music is not a competition. My other mentor Kevin Hughes taught me that no one can beat you at your own game. Conversely, you can't beat others at their game, so why even try. Do you, and sell you.

That’s exactly how I’ve described him.

Hola Andy, desde Buenos Aires una pregunta, que micrófonos tiene tu telecaster?
Te ayudo con la traducción hermano: "Hey Andy I have a question for you , what pick-ups does your telecaster have? Cheers from Buenos Aires"
