  • this is another descriptive video on how to locate the idle rpm screw on a Royal Enfield Himalayan and manually adjust it to suit your requirements. I talk about how to remove the fuel tank and locate the throttle body and also WHY to adjust the idling RPMs.

    Just got my Himalayan back from the shop after 10 weeks. The bike was running very lean and stalling. They eventually replaced the throttle body and injectors. The idle is now about 2100 rpm. I called the dealer and was told that’s how it is set from the factory. I know the manual says 1200 to 1400 rpm is the proper setting. The dealer is an hour away and I’m upset that they failed to finish the job properly. I’ll watch your video again and learn to adjust it myself. Thank you.

    I purchased my Royal Enfield Bullet yesterday. It is a 2014 with 3,900 miles on the odometer. I test rode it and find (no tachometer) that it seems to be idling less than 500 rpm making it very intractable at starting out, especially when trying to travel slowly on gravel. I have not gotten it off my truck yet from bringing it home. I am anxious to service this motorcycle and to use the info in this video to properly set my idle. I am sure this will make a major difference toward enjoying this motorcycle.

    I have a Yamaha Mt15. After riding the bike for a while when i turn it off and restart again. I've noticed that the rpm keeps fluctuating between 1500-1800. Even though bike is warm shouldn't it stay constantly on idle??

    • @ONTWOWHEELSBEN
      @ONTWOWHEELSBEN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. Every single motorcycle nowadays run an extremely lean air fuel Mixture. So there is a surge in the idle RPMs when it the engines becomes hot . A slightly better AFR should help . Or just reduce the idle RPMs a little when cold .

      this is surging , happens due to many reasons. start by lowering the idle rpm at cold. 1/8 turn clockwise. ride hard for atleast 30 minutes and test. if there is NO surge , then adjust idle rpm again when hot/warm to 1200 rpm.

    Hello, because my himalayan (just at 1000 km) fails at low rpm and the engine turns off, it also happens when I reach a corner and brake, it does not maintain idle. I already tried with the screw accelerating it a little more and the same thing fails, they told me to wait for the motor to soften, is that so? or would I have to regulate valves? Thanks

    • @ONTWOWHEELSBEN
      @ONTWOWHEELSBEN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this could be three things 1.the idle rpm is too low, 2.the bike is running extremely lean (take it to the service centre and ask them to flash your ecu and update ) 3. the valves are too tight ( mainly inlet. keep it at .09mm) very rarely it could also be a failing side stand switch .

    • @manuelperez5375
      @manuelperez5375 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK I appreciate your reply. The bike stops failing when the engine has been running for over half an hour. In that case, of the possible failures that you mentioned, which would be the most probable?
      The fault occurs at startup (with the engine cold) and continues for the first 30 minutes or a little longer. Then there is idle at about 1800 RPM, which is quite a bit, should I go down with the screw (clockwise)?

    • @ONTWOWHEELSBEN
      @ONTWOWHEELSBEN  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Manuel Perez 1800 rpm’s and still stalling in cold starts is a clear sign of lean Air fuel Ratio ( bs6 is even worse ) . There is a lot that I can talk about the catastrophic damage lean mixtures cause but I can’t now and shouldn’t as it is the way to go in the future ( pollution ) . Make the engines run on just Air until the piston seizes . Any ways the best thing that you can do now is to keep the inlet valve clearance at .09 . And tape 1/4 of your air filter with duct tape . Also pls adjust your idle back to 1200 rpms .

      @manuelperez5375 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I am going to try first leaving the bike at 1200 rpm and covering 1/4 the air filter. If the failure continues I will have to wait until the second service (5000 km) for RE to regulate the valves and fix it, I cannot do it on my own to avoid losing the warranty. • @ONTWOWHEELSBEN
      @ONTWOWHEELSBEN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes , the surging happens because of excessive heat in the system . One can’t just play with the idle circuit and the tps voltage without compensating for it with added fuel . You need to add fuel too .

    • @garyboxx1
