      My 65 year old mother whose usual TV/book entertainment consists of soap operas, kids movies and such, who doesn't give much priority to accurate or deep lore, who didn't get nearly half of the story/names/places from the previous GoT seasons (just too much to keep up with for her), even she was massively disappointed. She called me after every frigging episode of season 8 to ask me if she just didn't get it or missed something, hoping that I could explain the plot holes. She thought I was joking with her when I told her that no, she didn't miss anything and that THAT *IS* the end product, the finale.

      @@kimmieh8419 thanks 😁 and I wrote comments like this sooooooo often, under every video about GoT season 8 (I absolutely recommend the alternative ending from 'talking thrones', it's all we wanted/needed for the final season) 😅
      Edit: my other 'usual comment' is explaining why I think that GoT is exactly like a reeeeeally toxic relationship. And yes, I'm bitter about Dumb&Dumber ruining the series, because they thought they were good writers and then finished it like that hated essay in 8th grade - hastily, with no care or heart in it and rushed to the max so they could move on.

    I will NEVER get over the fact that they built up over 7 seasons that Jon was so important. That the NK knew of Jon specifically ( and Bran). That Jon had lead both Hardhome & Beyond the Wall & was vital in uniting the armies together to fight against the NK. And it was all for absolutely nothing.

    • @m.williams4971
      @m.williams4971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agree to an extent, except Hardhomme specifically guaranteed his bulk forces for the Battle of the Bastards(while being his downfall move to those Nights Watch men who hated wildlings). Still, it was very vital for taking back Winterfell(because just having the Knights of the Vale without ground forces may have been a more even battle. The Battle of the Bastards made him King of the North. Beyond the Wall was to earn a brief respite with Cersei(by showing the wight in action) and it solidified Daeny’s desire to assist the north (seeing what creatures there were who could destroy her kingdom).
      I do believe overall that Jon was let down significantly as he would have been an awesome King as Aaegon the VI combining Stark and Targaryen blood to make the near perfect ruler. Complete waste sending him north, for what?

      @KAITLYN KENNEY This just reminds me of when George RR Martin talked about how subverting people’s expectations isn’t always the smart way to go. Sometimes it’s cheap, and dare I say it, predictable. And you’re right, there’s nothing wrong with an expected plot point, it’s *HOW* the plot point is executed. That is something we, the audience, don’t know. We can theorize, but overall, we generally don’t know. Much like all of us knew Harry would kill Voldemort, but we didn’t know how. Did the fact that the overall audience knew this would somehow discourage them from reading/watching? No. So, to me, this was just lazy writing and D&D’s obsession with Maisie Williams.

    The fact that Dany pledged to fight for the north before Jon bent the knee is accurate to her character as we have seen her for seven seasons. It is frustrating that Jon said it like it was the other way around and this is never challenged or corrected so that the Northerners and Sansa can have some kind of justification for hating Dany. Season 8 writing was desperate to undo all of Dany's good deeds, cover her better instincts and shine a light on all her faults which were amplified times a 1000 in order to justify other characters unreasonable dislike and distrust of her. Everything hinged on her mad queen story line and that is why the show tanked, because that concept was never going to work within the framework of the narrative that the show has been about, the books maybe, but not the show.

      D&D seemed like they didn't know more than good and absolutely evil. Like there wasn't anything between or rather beyond. Danny lost her own child without going crazy. She lost her dragon. She didn't seem to have a problem finding out she had incest. What could trigger madness in her? Didn't the show originally integrate so many intrigues? Maybe Cersei does something evil to Jon, maybe Jon takes her Dragons. Such things would be better triggers than Jon denying her further incest (for the moment).

    • @mel-lo8zg
      @mel-lo8zg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +81

      It’s because they gave her Jeyne’s story from the books. We leave all the Stark children (besides poor Rickon stuck in cannibal island) in a training phase by the end of ADWD. Bran is training to become the three eyed crow with Bloodraven, beyond the Wall. Arya is training to become a Faceless Man in Braavos. And Sansa is in Vale with such an interesting politcal conflict going on around her, learning to play the game with Littlefinger. But in the show they scrapped this plot all together and decided to put her through more misery. Because apparently, instead of giving her a well written training phase alongside one of the best players of the game and in a complex political situation that she would learn a lot from, to transform her character into an actual smart and mature person therefore completing her arc would make no sense and she needs to be abused even more severe than what she has endured for the last four seasons to have character development. (I can’t believe they made her actually say this.) So we end up with a show!Sansa that is said to be “the smartest person ever” but instead is just the Walmart Version of show!Cersei. Though this Sansa lacks the villainous charm she had because hey Starks are the good guys! And also they don’t need to show us any demonstration of her so called intelligence. Just make her cold and deviod of any emotion because that’s what a badass woman is like, and not to mention obssesed with Northern independency for some reason. It’s not like she out of all the Stark children is the one that favored her mother’s Southern side the most. She kind of forgot about that I guess. Anyways Starks are the good guys and North is just awsome! And just make some character repeat that she is just sooo smart every five minutes, it should be fine.

      @99veruca 4 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      @Rheya Ruiz I'm really curious about the North post season 8. Sansa is queen, ok then what? Maybe it goes well because Bran is the king (argh) but she pushed (stupidely) for independance before that. She antigonized Daenerys as soon as they met. "Sansa is the smartest person" yeah so smart that she thinks alieneting the (only) person who came to help you fight an army of dead things, who has two dragons (because she sacrificed one to save your brother and king) and who MAY grant you independance (like she did the Iron Islands) is the best course of action. The smartest person she is...( it hurts i rooted for Sansa in the beginning. She was a badass in King's Landing).

    • @99veruca
      @99veruca 4 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      @@mel-lo8zg wow. First yes to all of that. But when you state it like that it's even more horrible what they did. Because they lacked the intelligence to write political intrigues and Sansa learning from Littlefinger they used her body (womanhood?) to further the story. It was always gross but I never realised why they did it.
      Season 8 Sansa North!Cersei, Arya is super cold ninja assassin, Daenerys is unloved murderous fire queen. Quality wise no one was spared, but it felt to me that the female characters got the worst of it (excepted for the only non-white woman.).

      Even only a few weeks before this, she defeated the Lannister army and offered them clemency. She _only_ executed Samwell Tarly's father and brother because they refused to bend the knee.
      Prior to this, a shepherd's daughter was attacked and killed by one of her dragons. Dany was so horrified, her immediate response was to chain all three of them up so that no more innocent lives would be lost.

There was absolutely no reason for that, there was no narrative explanation for it, there was no historic reason for it as far as the past seasons go. Bran somehow killing him would have worked, and the. Jon or Dany. No one else could have made sense. But, I never liked Arya when she got to Braavos. I don't like the faceless man thing, and to be honest, if this is how they were gonna do her story, she never even had to go to the FM. She could a got training with the Hound and Brienne and got her skills there. As far as killing the Freys, she didn't have to even camo herself, no one knows what she looks like

    I was baffled when Dany just casuslly let Jon mount Rhaegal. First time I have seen that scene, I literally thought she wanted him dead. But turns out show!Dany does not know about a tiny tiny part called the Dance of The Dragons in her family’s history, where those who faked to have Valyrian blood in their veins tried to claim dragons and they were burned alive by said dragons. Because no one outside of those had Valyrian heritage was ever able to claim a dragon. So you know Dany, before she knows about R+L=J should never allow Jon on a dragon, unless she wants him dead. Even if she did.... why doesn’t it click her that he actually mounted Rhaegal and was not burned alive, eaten alive, or just thrown off from sky? Is there any sensible explanation as to why literally no one cares about him mounting a dragon? Especially Tyrion who you know growing up was obssesed with dragons and should know that no one without Valyrian blood has ever been able to ride a dragon. Why doesn’t it click to him that no Targaryen has ever married into House Stark so either he has a Targaryen mom which is impossible considering at the time of his birth there was only one woman Targaryen Queen Rhaella who hasn’t even met Ned, so he must have a Targaryen daddy. Why doesn’t neither Dany nor Tyrion realise this? Visiuals are incredible and Jon riding the dragon named after his father is a nice moment but... it falls flat because of the lack of logic.

    • @mel-lo8zg
      @mel-lo8zg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      Seth Tek Well I have read the books so... Dragons do kill Targaryens. Rhaenyra Targaryen was eaten alive by her half-brother’s dragon Sunfyre, Rhaenys Targaryen TQWNW was burnt alive by either Vhagar, Sunfyre or both. Joffrey Velaryon, son of Rhaenyra was thrown off of the sky by his mother’s dragon Syrax. Drogon should have killed him, he just didn’t because D&D wanted that cool shot of Arya, Sansa and Jon, it’s that simple. Also I don’t get your point about the books taking place in “3-4 months” the time is unclear in the books, but there are a few mentions of it here and there, so a lot of people, me included assume 2 to 3 years has passed between the start of AGOT and end of ADWD, and the books end by Season 5 (even though Season 5 is a clownery compared to the Feast/Dance) so Cersei is not pregnant. Coming from someone who has read the books, the second half of this show is unwatchable, and even the first four seasons has major problems with character arcs. They are not just minor issues

    I strongly disagree about the army of the dead being ill-equipped for siege warfare, in fact I think they are the ultimate army for that. They don't tire, they don't eat or drink and they don't care about the cold. They could have very easily waited at a safe distance outside the castle and cut off any supply lines. The Night King can summon a blizzard and it wouldn't take long at all for those inside the castle to freeze or starve to death (They were already struggling with food as mentioned in S8E1).
    All the living can do is try and use the dragons in desperate attempt to kill the Night King and his army, but #1 The Night King's immune to dragon fire and #2 in blizzard conditions I strongly favour the wight dragon and the white walkers with javelins over the livings 2 dragons.

      Dragon glass is presumably also related to dragon fire. So what else could kill him? Maybe this is where witchcraft comes into play. Maybe another Targaryen (Jon) has to sacrifice himself and become the new night king (because there always has to be one night king for the weather in their universe to exist). After that, the old night king is just another white knight and Arya throws a dragon knife through his skull right before it's too late. All white walkers that he created die with him but Jon as the new NK has to return to the north because wherever he is, the winter is with him. Dany gets crazy over realizing that she can never touch Jon again because she's the mother of the dragons and it touching hurts both. Or she gets mad over realizing that he lost all of his feelings like the previous NK. Or maybe Jon sees her as his enemy now since she's the fire. Many ways to build up a mad queen. But it has to be something that destroys her remaining purpose, and a huge load of emotions.

      @@leinfare your points are decent but you have overthought the blizzard issue. A dragon can't just breathe fire and remove an entire blizzard which best serves as a smoke screen.If the wights wait out the defenders you would have to try to find the Night King in a blizzard with no visibility. Dragon fire does not get around that. Plus, yes it is easy to kill a wight dragon, but is is also easy for the wights to kill the living dragons.If you hop on a dragon and fly out blindly into an army of wights having your dragon breathe fire you will tell the undead king and his fellow wights where to throw a spear, and it only takes one spear before you have to deal with two dragons instead of one.You have put too much focus on the deadliness of fire and used a simple and straightforward scenario regarding castles to overstate how effective fire would be.It's a blizzard, not a castle.The problem is visibility.In a castle you could rain fire on it and the enemy would not see you through a stone wall. Out in the open in a snowstorm you will light yourself up like a beacon if you use fire just to burn some snowflakes that the whitewalkers can provide without limit.In regards to the defenders shooting arrows at the wights, again you cannot hit what you cannot see past a horde of undead bodies, a blizzard, and the darkness of night.The living lose hands down if the wights choose to wait them out.

    • @glowhoo9226

      Eh, let them try to rebel, the north could get away with it unless you bring in dragons. The north has never actually been conquered by foreign powers. The Andals couldn’t do it, and the only reason the north Kneeled to Aegon was because of the dragons. The iron born don’t really count either since at the time most of the north’s forces were fighting the lannisters, so the north was pretty much unguarded.
      The main reason the other lands wouldn’t rebel is that it’s not really worth it. They earn more being unified than they do if they were alone. The north has every reason to be independent however since they don’t follow the same gods, have a different way of life, and the south treats them as savages and has made their lives hell.

      @@glowhoo9226 The Starks surrendered the North rather than be burned by Aegon and therefore he conquered it. And let's say that this isn't a clear cut conquest, well then Dorne has even more reason to want independence since they are the ones that were never conquered, their compliance was bought with marriage and their rulers still hold the titles of Prince and princess while everywhere else (including the North) they use Lord and lady. Dorne was never conquered in any sense of the word and if anyone of the kingdoms should have freedom it's them. Also Dorne is also pretty different from the rest of westeros, their customs are different, their traditions, their way of life. I'd say that the North has more similarities with the seven kingdoms than Dorne . As for the Iron islands they revolted when Robert was king too so makes sense they'd do it again.
      Giving the North independent was complete fan service, logically Bran should know that this would eventually break up all the realm.
      Also if anyone rebelled they would not really have any way to defend or stop anyone because westeros have seen war for years now and their resources are completely depleted.

    One thing I hated but never heard anyone else mention was the sheer drop in quality and lack of acknowledgment of the costume designs after S5-6.
    In S1-4 you had very distinctive and colorful outfits for all the various factions, for example if you paid really close attention you'd be able to tell what family a soldier serves by his helmet alone, sort of like how that was the case in real life for a short while.
    Then in S6 Sansa starts wearing this bizarre outfit with that obnoxious metal ring that doesn't seem to have any meaning at all (I guess a Wolf brooch was too passé?), and Cersei starts wearing this all-black outfit with a corduroy-pattern robe, fur cloak and shutter-shoulderpads over it? That doesn't say "Queen" that says "we ran out of ideas for what believable medieval fashion would look like lol"
    Missandei and Grey worm almost always dressed like edgelords so I can excuse everything for them, but did Tyrion, Varys and Dany have to follow suit? Tyrion with his weird all-black jacket, **under** jacket, etc. For god's sake in S5 and 6 we see him wearing Essos clothing while talking to Varys (who also went full-black emo mode for no reason) and it looks different but still colorful and we see SO MUCH color in Essos fashion in S1-4 it's practically like the directors *kinda forgot* about it.
    And then you have Dany, who does seem to wear a lot of cloaks, padded stuff that has chains and dragon heads on them, but it still looks just so bland and uninspired when she was so distinctive before. Jon got off lucky since he just wears the same outfit Robb wore with a couple variations, and Davos is literally the exact same since S2, which is changing literally nothing but still somehow better.
    But the biggest example of this by far are the city watch and kings/queensguard. Remember when they were called the Gold/White cloaks respectively and you could tell them apart quite easily? NOPE, give everyone a really menacing black and white plate armor that looks about as wieldy and inspired as a barrel of crude oil, and just drip that barrel over everyone.
    The only saving grace throughout all of this is Jaime, who still wears the old fashion Lannister armor that Tywin wore, and you can tell D&D just turned down a dial that read "Saturation" to zero every time it shows up because even *that* looks darker and less colorful than before.
    Also the Golden Company who while they look neat also disappear immediately , lol gg d&d
    The reason for this is obvious, it was just D&D trying to look dark and edgy by having everyone *dress* dark and edgy to make it look more deep or something, or to literally have good guys dressed in bright clothes fight against bad guys dressed in dark clothes, even though that's **literally what GRRM said as an example of what he doesn't want to do.**
    I know I'm ranting about a show that ended really poorly almost two whole years ago but i've **literally** never seen anyone mention this, like, at all, and it annoys me to no end.

    • Moat Calin is easy to pass through from the North, but impossible to retake from the South. I don’t know if it’s actually a good idea to go there to then suffer to return home. Also, the expedition would be so massive - they would have to move Lords, Ladies and their servants to the South in the middle of Winter - not worth it. However, it would make perfect sense if they had more time and could’ve stayed on the Riverlands, on the Vale or even on the Westerlands (remember Tyrion’s conquest of Casterly Rock?).
    • Your idea of a commotion starting when Jaime arrives is a much better scene than what we’ve got. Daenerys would be furious,
    • Your impression of Jon is the best
    • I never thought the Night King could simply... you know... avoid the place with the dragons... gather EVEN MORE army... and comeback
    • Funny you mention Dany questioning if Rhaegar would have r*ped Lyanna. I’m rereading AGOT, and she remembers him “dying for the woman he loved”... it’s literally in her first chapter.

      @Other Makes sense that you felt that way and it worked out in the end. There are certainly people who didn't see the decline though, and that seems to be most people - S7 has like 93% on Rotten Tomatoes which is just absurd given the quality of the writing was about on par with that of S8, especially in comparison to earlier seasons. I'm genuinely glad you enjoyed it longer than I did while also appreciating there was a drop in quality though.
      I am happy for the people enjoyed it, good for them. What annoys me (among many other things) is I believe D&D's attitude to fan service, particularly fan servicing the large bulk of fans who don't actually care all that much (which is a fine position to hold in television btw, don't get me wrong!) is partly what led to a decrease in quality and change in tone and themes etc etc. The blame still lies at the feet of D&D (for many other reasons as well), but their view fo how to handle fan reactions dictated the diection of their show which I think is a great mistake. This approach to storytelling where the majority of fans' attitude influence the writers seems detrimental to the minority of more serious and deeply invested fans that are still making and watching these videos a year on, and people who actually care for the source material and the lore of this fictional world.
      I would say for this type of fan, including myself, other people's approval of some of the butchering of the story in S5-7, particularly S7, was heartbreaking because it was always setting up where the show led (a goodies vs baddies Hollywood action drama where the heroes can't die and always prevail) and that was always going to be a road to disappointment in the end. I was actually relieved when people didn't like S8 because I knew for a while something bad was coming and I liked that people finally realised what was happening!
      For example in S7... People were celebrating things like Arya's massacre of the Frey's, which in the world set up in S1-4 would have major major consequences for the entire kingdom and potentially for Arya personally, and for House Stark as she stupidly revealed it was her that did it to a witness she knowingly and intentionally spared (which breaks all of the Faceless Men lore on sooo many levels of course, but that was already ruined in S6), and her actions were super immoral and unjust! But the audience were led to like it, and like it they did. Thus one more step was taken towards Arya being this unearned badass that the fans all cheer for and blindly adore, a step towards her killing the Night King in the writers' hopes for the same unearned cheering (the Night King who himself is a show invention for the embodiment of evil which is a fantasy trope early GoT and asoiaf tried to subvert!). On so many levels did the show mess it up and yet the fans loved it which is an endorsement for more of the same. And that was all before the intro theme of S7E1!!
      I have loads of examples but this one is enough to express my disappointment.
      What is funny is that on watching S8 I actually got some enjoyment from it. I enjoy critical reviews and I knew I was going to get many! I liked that other people finally didn't like it as well, cos I was always the outsider in discussions for not liking what they were doing. And I'd already decided the books are my canon so I didn't care too much what happened in this fan fiction show. The show would have lost me long ago, it was my appreciation for the books that kept me mildly interested but not bothered enough to be properly upset with where it ended up like it hit some people. I watched most of it without feeling much where some poor unsuspecting people were devastated.

    • @sam_c95
      @sam_c95 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Other This is a good point. Perhaps that's why no one ended up liking S8!
      Even if they only made something they would enjoy, I believe they were influenced by the fans in some places though. A few examples... Cleganebowl wasn't their idea and didn't serve anything in the plot, Jaime and Brienne getting together despite the ending they wanted for Jaime (and the nonsensical virgin shaming of an unmarried noble woman in a feudalistic society - it's not like it's literally expected of her!), Arya and Gendry, especially the proposal which breaks established Westerosi customs. Gendry didn't even need to come back at all in the first place! The fans just liked him so he came back in a contrived way, and they made a rowing joke to reference the memes for good measure.
      i could be wrong about their influence and motives but it sure seems fanservicy to me!

      The decline started right out of the gate with the first episode of season 5. There were some truly stupid and nonsensical plotlines in each season from thereon in, the worst of which for me was Arya's stabbing and miraculous recovery, followed by that stupid pop-up Frey mass murder scene. The turned Arya from a character I loved into an overpowered, smug annoyance. But there was enough to keep my interest in the story. It all hinged on the wrapping up of the big plotlines and character arcs and they failed in almost all of them. It killed my interest in ever watching the show again. The final episode of season 8 actually made me angry at how much they were willing to insult the audience's intelligence. Unbearable, stupid shit.

    I'm not quite sure if Cersei waiting out the whole thing is really all that smart. It's practically an all in gamble. If the North wins, she wins. If the North loses, the army of the dead comes at her, with tens of thousands of soldiers additional to what they originally had as well as 3 dragons. Doesn't sound thought out thoroughly to me.

      This is many months late, but I’m glad I saw this comment. This nitpick bothered me and I was surprised I couldn’t find anybody in the comments addressing it till I saw this.
      While I agree with most of the points in the video, Cersei staying south is an absolutely risky choice. The odds of the North winning is low, and if they lose, how does that benefit Cersei? This isn’t a typical real life war. Your opponent doesn’t need sleep, food, water, rest...and when they kill an opponent, their numbers grow, not diminish.
      Letting two enemies weaken each other and then swooping in is a good strategy in real life, but that doesn’t work if one opponent gets stronger by beating the other side.

    1:00:30 "valar morghulis" and "valar dohaeris" are both High Valyrian phrases. The phrases are commonly used by the Faceless Men, but the words are not Braavosi. Grey Worm is in an army trained by people who speak High Valyrian and now commanded by a Queen who speaks High Valyrian. Red Priests also speak High Valyrian consistently. When Mel greats Thoros, they say the words to eachother. This interaction isn't illogical at all.

    This was really good, man! I thought when D&D said that they wanted to make the show for NFL Players and Mothers. Which is weird because: A) This is insinuating that Mothers and NFL players are incapable of enjoying a deeply woven and intricate story full of mystery and suspense. (Two oddly specific markets to be talking down to.) Or B) They realized they couldn't possibly hold up to GRRM's talent, so they gave up and tried to go in a new direction using whatever scribbling GRRM left on the cocktail napkin, and their "natural" abilities. Hell, they were even going to update the title screen. This was Game of Thrones 2.0. This wasn't your grandpappy's Game of Thrones. This was newer, bluer, and awful. It took this once brilliant show and condemned it to forgotten history.
    But we still have the books at least...which we re read patiently as we wait for The Winds of Winter...for the last 9 years...We're never going to figure out what Littlefinger was up to, were we?

    The scene where Jorah tells Dany about Tyrion’s “intelligence” and how he’s a competent hand is the most insulting in the show.
    Not a single line is consistent with what we know about the characters (including Tyrion) or accurately portrayed the events of the show we’ve seen.
    Jorah always should’ve been Dany’s hand. He was the wise cunning voice in her ear through her toughest moments. This entire army and kingdom started with two people: a 14 year old Daenerys with no idea about politics or ruling and exiled Ser Jorah Mormont.
    With his guidance you now have the greatest army in Westeros but instead you trust a dwarf of the enemy house who hasn’t made a single good decision under your rule?

    from past two years i thought i had spent enough time picking all the inconsistencies and ideocracies of the final season and justified my disappointment of this show, until i watched this video and realized i had just scratched the surface of all the lazy writing in this season, and this video just explains half of the season. MY GOD!!!

    • @natb9919
      @natb9919 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Facts I'm still here years later learning even more inconsistencies when I though I knew them all. I totally forgot that valyrian steel was special because it was forged in dragonfire but actual dragonfire did nothing to the night king! The writing on this show wasn't just lazy it ended up feeling insulting to the characters, the story, the lore and most of all, the viewers intelligence. It's not that hard to write a single episode consistently but they didn't do that once the whole of season 8. An "it was all a dream" ending would've been lazy writing, this was just an "idgaf anymore" attitude to the show and all the actors, the crew, the fans etc who spent a decade with this show.

    "We are then enchanted by Podrick's singing as we see a montage of soldiers prepping for the battle in stupid ways" had me rolling😂😂
    I always thought that while season 8 is trash at least episodes 1 and 2 were good, now you've helped me realise that they're not really, both pretty much set-up filler episodes at best, literally anything that happened of importance has some level of inconsistency apart from like 3 scenes; the "plan" to kill the Night King probably the worst scene of all lol...but like u said still absolute miles better than the other 4 episodes can't wait to see you rip episodes 4 and 5 lol this was great looking forward to part 2 :)

    Brienne being declared 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' is also a nod to the GRRM Dunk and Egg book of that same name because Brienne is likely a descendant of Ser Duncan the Tall. Unfortunately I don't think we know the entire knighting speech - Dunk walked away part way through the knighting in The Hedge Knight so we never heard the end of it. I imagine there is a charge in the name of each of the Seven (or possibly six with the exclusion of the Stranger).
    I've come up with an idea of what we are missing: "In the name of the Smith I charge you to be strong. In the name of the Crone I charge you to seek truth and wisdom. In the name of the Stranger I charge you to respect the fallen. Do you, Money of House Media, take these charges and swear to live by them with honour now and forever?" [Upon accepting:] "Arise Ser Money, knight of Mediatown."
    I made all this up myself just now for fun so feel free to improve on it, but I did some research to try and make it sound believable. I read the wiki pages for The Faith, Knights and even Marriage which led me to extracts from The Hedge Knight, A Storm of Swords and A Dance with Dragons to look for suitable wordings. I wanted honour mentioned, I wanted an oath to be taken, I wanted it to sound religious and to reference all seven gods appropriately. Now I understand (even more than I already did) how it takes GRRM so long to write!
