In the bts they actually revealed that in a scene that wasnt animated kallus wasn't even rescued by the Empire, they gave up on him and didn't want to shell the resources so he was actually reacued by traders
I really love how this episode centered on both Zeb and Kallus relationship with each other and how the both of them try to survive one of the moons in Geonosis while also diving deep into Kallus' Bo-rifle on how he' got the weapon and his backstory, even it does give several hints on what's to come for Kallus in future seasons (which I won't give away) cause at the end Kallus bows in respect to Zeb. Steve Blum and David Oyelowo who voiced Zeb and Kallus respectively really did a phenomenal job voicing the sentimental scenes in this episode. Other than that, it's easily one of my favorite episodes in Season 2.
I just realized. Callus is very similar to Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender in terms of his character arc. Makes sense why he's one of my favorite characters in this series :)

The Geonosians not only designed the core plans (so the main outer shell) but Palpatine made sure they caught Poggle the Lesser during TCW so that they could frame it as “oh no, the separatists are creating a super-weapon, we should create our own one for retaliation” - as a scapegoat for a reason why the Republic would 1: ever have one 2: continue production into the Empire. Albeit, the general scope of the project was under wraps. That Sheev is a clever sod.
I love these style episodes in shows when it's largely just people talking. Especially when it's people who don't like each other. Makes for an interesting dynamic.
The tension while they were sliding their way out of the cave was very well crafted. One great thing I wanted to point out in a particularly interesting episode.
If I recall correctly, a decent portion of the Catalyst book took place around Geonosis, and went a bit into their involvement in the hands-on construction of the Death Star. I should read that book again, because it was great.
I hope we see a young khalis in the bad batch, considering his first mission was on Onderon and we see Onderon in the trailer for the bad batch, would love to see him be one of the first stormtroopers
This and the next episode are just the best! We saw character development within Kallus, and the relationship grow between Kallus and Zeb. Knowing what we see happens to Kallus in the future, it’s just like …like…😦🥲
We need to see the pov of people who truly believe in the empire. Not just the ones who are originally with the empire and then leave. It definitely benefits some.
Totalitarian structures rarely do benefit anyone - even if you do expand it into larger contexes. It is quicker and easier to find meaningful levels of agency and loyalty within them. But in the end behind the burlesque roundabouts and lies, the system is mainly made to serve the party lead/dictator. The way the totalitarian system is achieved is always a gradual - even a natural process. That doesn't mean that it is a win-win trade in the end. For example, the collapse of the Soviet Union has lead 70% of Russians to miss the dictatorship even though most Russians and Warsaw Pact would have fared a lot better if they didn't fall under communism. But comparatively worse living standards with historical whataboutism don't serve the socioemotional needs of the people who will easily serve or just bare the totalitarianism even if it isn't perfect.
It would've been funny if they mixed up their names for the intro, like Kanan in the previous episode. :) Also, the ending of this one still gives me chills, with the way the music swells going into the title card.

Saying that we got to see the Imperial side of things from the BF2 campaign is a bit of an overstatement.... a glimpse maybe, for like 2 or 3 missions.
I can't believe there was barely any reaction to the Kallus/Zeb story until the end, they went straight into geonosians and wanting to see Imperial stories... this is one of my favourite eps, so maybe I'm overreacting..
Covid safety, they don't anymore but these reactions are behind since they are catching Rick and Calvin up. They literally have only done this from when they got back into the office during covid until recently.

This is one of my favorite episodes on Rebels. This was like a turning of the tides so to speak.

When Kallus realized he was a "spoke on the wheel" in the eyes of the Empire & realized he was on the wrong side.

The Geonosians did a large bulk of the initial DS construction. Once it moved to Sentinel Base under Tarkin they wiped out the Geonosians.
I wonder if that Lasat thing will end up being in the bad batch and somehow the Bad batch end up helping what happen to Kallus on Onderaan
