I am not a Canadian (US - Michigan) however, I am a huge supporter of gun and firearm rights and the rights of hunters, farmers, sports shooters, and anyone who wants to protect their property and families to own them. To my Canadian friends, you are very lucky to have someone like Raquel fighting for your rights, so please support her anyway you can. Wait a minute, what’s the reason for this? That there were 7 firearms related deaths per 1 million people in Canada in 2021? In a country where there are 350,000 guns per 1 million people in it? Additionally violent crime deaths were 20.8 per million in 2021. At those rates, you’d have to live 400 years to have a 50% chance of dying by gun (including accidents, which seems oddly low).
I feel badly for this woman- she’s fighting to uphold firearm freedoms in a country that has no intention of honoring those freedoms. There are still some states in America where she would be welcome to experience the freedoms she should be entitled to anywhere but will almost certainly never enjoy in Canada.

I’m not a gun owner but I stand for the right to own guns legally….for hunters, for protection, for indigenous people, for farmers, for sport, or if you just want to own a gun… it’s a right. Provided you go through training and are properly certified. It’s simple! Liberals will whatever they can to take guns away from the people… never let them!

Most of the people you mention have been brought up with guns. It's a way of life and a necessity for them. Do you really think they need additional training and certification? Maybe only if you live in a city and never used a firearm but then you have X soldiers. Do they need more training also? Criminals are not going to comply with the laws. Doubt your laws will make any difference. Just my opinion.

yes, that is where the fire arms advisory committee will come in and start picking off different firearms to single out (probably sks as one of the 1st) and ban those too. instead of banning 100s at once they'll just stretch it out over time. Their end goal is total disarming of the population.
Correct, though that didn't prevent them from including it in a list by name on the previous go. How it works is that this definition covers all guns in the abstract that fit it, then the ones named specifically as well. i.e., "Banned if the following features are present, but also if it's on this arbitrary list."
But it can be easily modified to take detachable mags; Viet Cong and NVA did it all the time.

I think Dane Lloyd, Glen Motz, and Larry Brock among others might take some umbrage at your comment. Ms Dancho is the lead on the file certainly as it is her portfolio, but they have all spent many hours at committee working on the firearms file on our behalf as well

Why can't Canadians with no criminal record and has PAL and proper permits not be allowed to own any fire arm and make tougher penalties for those who don't respect the law? We need gun rights in the constitution and rights of ownership laws
You want that, you will have to move to the USA. Here in Canada they will only continue to strip us of any ability to own a firearm, look at Britain and Australia our two crony role model countries, exactly what our government wants here.
because we have a great little experiment south of our border that has been going off the rails for quite a long time now. I dont understand why having the ability to take a life with a weapon is something that needs to be part of our constitution and why these supporters should have their say over people that are against having citizens arming themselves. I would put an end to all this and move on to the 21st centry: Progress in the name of our civilization! not in the name of personal fears and addiction to power and control over others.

@bober1019 if you remove the 5 major cities with the most homicides, the US goes down to the 180th ish country with the most gun homicides. Ironically the 5 cities with the highest rate of gun violence have the most stringent gun laws. The guns being used are illegal guns. Criminals don't follow laws. People that are properly vetted and licensed aren't trying to "take someone's life"

Wait a minute, what’s the reason for this? That there were 7 firearms related deaths per 1 million people in Canada in 2021? In a country where there are 350,000 guns per 1 million people in it? Additionally violent crime deaths were 20.8 per million in 2021. At those rates, you’d have to live 400 years to have a 50% chance of dying by gun (including accidents, which seems oddly low).

I feel badly for this woman- she’s fighting to uphold firearm freedoms in a country that has no intention of honoring those freedoms. There are still some states in America where she would be welcome to experience the freedoms she should be entitled to anywhere but will almost certainly never enjoy in Canada.

We need something similar to the 2nd amendment.....some kind of law protecting law abiding citizens from the over reach of tyrannical governments. And while we are at it a mechanism to recall MP's or entire governments when they run rougue much as the Liberals and their coalition buddies the NDP have done.
