Absolutely, but part of that(and i don't agree with this) is canada has basically no right to self defense, it's not a thing. You don't have a right to use firearms to defend yourself, even if it just happens to work out that way as a hunter. It'[s really dumb.

Pierre Poilievre’s criticism of the RCMP’s actions during the 2013 High River flood gun confiscation incident highlights a contradiction in his position. As a senior cabinet minister in Stephen Harper’s Conservative government at the time, Poilievre was part of the very government responsible for overseeing the RCMP, yet he has criticized their actions as an example of government overreach.
The controversy stems from the RCMP seizing firearms from evacuated homes during the High River floods, allegedly for public safety under Alberta’s Emergency Management Act. Poilievre has since denounced the RCMP’s actions, portraying them as an infringement on property rights and a misuse of power. However, this criticism ignores the fact that the RCMP operates under federal oversight, and as part of the government, Poilievre shared responsibility for ensuring accountability in their operations.
Despite distancing himself from the incident, Poilievre’s argument rests on the claim that the RCMP acted independently and without federal direction. While this may technically be true, the federal government is ultimately responsible for the RCMP, making his attempts to blame the incident on rogue law enforcement appear disingenuous. By condemning actions that occurred under his government’s watch, Poilievre effectively critiques himself and his colleagues for failing to prevent or address the issue at the time.
This inconsistency reveals a degree of political opportunism. Poilievre’s current stance aligns with his populist messaging, where he champions the rights of gun owners and property owners. By framing the High River incident as an example of government overreach, he appeals to a base frustrated with perceived government interference. However, his failure to acknowledge his own role in the government responsible for the RCMP raises questions about his credibility on the issue.
In summary, Poilievre’s criticism of the High River gun confiscations reflects a hypocrisy in his position. While condemning the actions as overreach, he avoids acknowledging that they occurred under his government’s authority, undermining his attempts to portray himself as an advocate for accountability and individual rights.

I think they were pandering to the "moderate" liberal voters for a while not realizing how many people actually liked traditional values and keeping liberalism for freedom-of-expression purposes only. It is starting to look better for him in the polls. For the first time that I've looked, the Conservatives are 5% ahead of the Liberals (35% to 30%), which would likely end up with a Conservative minority if an election was held now. Maybe the trend will continue and by the time there is an actual election the lead will get larger and they will get a majority. Which means that they wouldn't be dependent on another party for support.

That of course would never happen. But you don't need to win every seat, just one over 50% of them. Meaning you need to win 170 seats out of 338 for a majority.
In reality you usually need about 40% to win a majority in a federal election.
The Conservatives are currently at about 36% and the PPC at 3%. According to 338 Canada poll (which has been spot on the last couple of elections).
The current odds of a Conservative majority is 16%. So, they would likely need to get a few more percentage points for a majority.

Well, there are a lot of Canadians who don't want government overreach, but the fact of the matter is that an alarming number of Canadians are sympathetic to socialism and actually WANT government overreach to take more money from those who have in the hopes that they can get paid for their vote.
Too many Canadians have become too soft, too lazy, and are more ambitions to obtain other people's money than to be hard-working and/or creative so as to earn their own. Quite pathetic.

    In 1914... in an effort
to help with the impending war, The
interior Minister, Talaat Pasha, of the
Ottoman Empire, decreed that all guns
and weapons should be turned in to the
local military barracks to assist with the
war effort. After having rounded up the
guns and all abled bodied men, he
decreed to his governors and mayors
that the army needed field equipment,
such as shovels, axes, picks and swords
and sickles to again help with the war
effort to clear brush and dig ditches The
    local Armenian population having
already been decimated and left with
only women, the elderly and children
after a year of famine because they
couldnt tend to their fields started to
perish…That's when he made his third
    decree, to release hardened criminals
form jails to again assist with the war
effort... this tine though, the CUP leader
    instructed his local officials to
confiscate any and all belongings of
value including wheat and sundry food
    items of the minority Christian
population of which the Armenians were
the majority! And lastly he paid his
    Janissaries (the Sultan's elite infantry
guards) to supervise the proper and
    orderly confiscation and deportation of
the local population again to save
them from the advancing war. Needless
to say…. those able bodied men, if they
hadnt been thrown off the cliffs of the
    Taurus mountains while detonating the
road to build the Berlin/Baghdad railway,
at the hands of their captors, finally met
their loved ones in the ditches they had

Excellent response. My fear is JT will manage to push through until 2025. We have a 100 acre farm that my 24 year old daughter is working herself right now. We believe this country's hope lies with Mr Poilievre.

I'd feel blessed to have a 100 acre farm right about now. I'd gladly work hard to feed my family and community.

@@rawbmar1166 We are putting in a lot of winter squash this year for our local food bank. my daughter also thought that 'loaning' out our dairy cow a few days a week to people who want to 'borrow' a cup of milk is another way to help out. The price of food is hitting this community very hard. Hope you are well.

It's just unbelievable he said all that without a script in front of him. That's the difference between Poilievre and Trudeau. Trudeau speaks from the teleprompter, Poilievre speaks from the heart. #PoilievreforPM #Trudeaumustgo
