Totally agree. When they launched the 23 model I seriously considered swopping my 21 machine in solely because of the new IMU. It would have cost me 2 grand. In the end I decided to keep it purely because of the large analogue tacho. The TFT display looks so C & N.
I have an R in grey. I bought it over the RS because of its road bias. I have fitted a belly pan, screen, bar end mirrors, heated grips (all genuine triumph) some evotech goodies and had it ceramic coated so spent more than a standard RS. i don't feel the vibes but the mirrors get quite fuzzy. Love the bike. Didn't think I would use the extra performance and I hate the RS Dash. Which is ironic as I have a 900 Tiger Aragon rally Pro
Agree with the comment on the drab colours slowing sales of the R. Same issue that the speed triple 1200rs had in its first year. Triumph need to have the same colour options regardless of the model
The RS suspension can be set to comfy (settings in the manual) which makes it a better road bike and then you can put. into track mode for track days 🙂
I see wayyyy too many bike review vids where we're told that a bike with fully adjustable suspension is too harsh or too soft. That's the beauty of adjustable suspension - you can adjust it to suit you pretty damn well!
@@UsernameKate I would agree with the wording of your comment there 👆 However in the video it sounded like your mate was saying he'd rather buy the R than the RS because he preferred the softer suspension on the R. I just wouldn't want others to disregard the RS as a "stiff" bike off the back of a comment like that. Not trolling, just sharing thoughts ✌️ Keep up the vids!
I enjoy all of your videos .. your reviews are honest and very balanced.. can’t wait to hear your view on the MXR soon.. have one in Oder and just can’t wait
A lot of interesting bikes from Triumph currently. the new 400s, the 660 Daytona (yes I know everyone wanted a 765) & everyone says the new Tiger 900s are excellent.
Own a 2020 R. Reason, quick shifter, great suspension for road, needle tachometer, upright mirrors. Couldn’t fault the rs, but R did the same, except suspension was a bit plusher. Didn’t notice the xtra hp in the rs although on a track, the ohlins would work better and that bit extra power at the top may be worth it. Matt grey was my favourite colour, but heh, colours are subjective. Remember the pink speed ?
The amount of people who crash on that stretch, I'll never understand! I'm with you on preferring the RS, but with that I'm on a 19 RS, and have spent quite a bit of time playing with the suspension to get it right for me. Still firm, for sure, but the specifically aforementioned comfort is acceptable. I'd sell the same for a yellow 23 RS!
Not looking to change to Triumph atm albeit I suspect the R would suit me best....More discreet, I prefer the clocks, front geometry perhaps slightly better for road use, available in white ...oh and not as expensive as the RS. I would be curious to see a road review of RS with Ohlins suspension settings ideally matched to a reviewer though.
Iv'e just bought the 765 RS arrives next Thursday 27th, cant wait i'm only 5 ft 4 having the seat lowered as well, it will be my first A cat bike and first upgrade over the benelli leonchino 125cc
I probably can't do many hours on a naked bike although it does sound nice. The A49 you were on is a great road for biking, it'd be even better only for the Fx#@#@ potholes 😂
The only gear changing problem I’ve had with my 21 Striple is a couple of times I have had to come to a very rapid stop which didn’t give sufficient time to knock it down the box as I did so. At rest with the clutch fully disengaged it would not select lower gears unless I partially engaged the clutch to bring the cogs into alignment.
This is probably going to be my next - and last - bike. What I can't believe is of the many, many videos I've watched about the bike, not a single one has mentioned what it's like to maintain. That means keeping it clean, oiling and/or adjusting the chain, how easy the tyre valves are to get to, etc (especially the front). These are important things that no reviewer seems to think anyone cares about. Maybe I'm the only one who does - I'm an old duffer, bending over/down, crouching etc is really hard, so how easy a bike is to clean and maintain is very important. Maybe reviewers don't have the bike that long - but maybe they should make a point of cleaning one, just so they can tell us?
I think forums are a good place or Facebook groups for owners impressions 😊 they will find the gremlins that we can't because we often don't have them long enough
If they had kept the seating position from the previous gen and put a simple round headlight I would buy it. Instead I passed on it 3 times for a different bike.
You know the problems you mentioned in last video. On brand new bikes the engines have to be broken in. Its just the newness. It can happen on any new bike or bike that has been factory referbished etc. On a gear box I made myself during the rubbish lock down it took 12 hours of ridng on dirt trails to get it worked in properly and now 4 years later runs like a dream no issues. You definitely do not want to be going to fast to soon on abrand new bike. Or you could think there is some thing wrong.
I looked for a 765 this past summer, I found one, I didn’t like the fisher price dash on the new one, plus the shrunken tank capacity. I did find a 2017 model with 3500 on the clock with the stunning TFT dash that the Triumph accountants hated. Guess what, it hasn’t failed, it’s super smooth in its display, it’s a far better bike than the later models. It’s the bike that the bean counters hated, it’s the best 765R that Triumph made…… but it cost them too much to produce. Love the colours on the RS, but I don’t want to ride on track, great video as usual.
I've had a 2018 since new, and have to agree. Best version Street Triple so far. When I check out the new models at the dealer, they somehow seem cheaper overall, not only the clocks. About a dozen track days and many thousands of miles, never had an issue.
I love street triples and the R would suit me as just a road rider better than the RS. I actually don't like bar end mirrors and would hit them getting though my gate for sure but the RS looks better. Sadly the RS TFT is just the worse one I've seen and the R dash looks budget compaired to other bikes in this sector. As others have said it should be a step up from the Trident dash not the same one😕
Nice ride along Kate. Although I would most likely never own this type of bike, I wouldn't mind trying it out. But I prefer to go on longer rides, and I want much more comfort, haha. BTW, that's a nice looking jacket. I'm just curious what it is since I'm in the market for a windproof/waterproof type. Also, if you had to have just one jacket to do 3 or 4 seasons, what would it be? Thanks.
Hey Michael, I've tried and tested the Oxford Monidal 1.0 suit over 5 years and it was my go too waterproof suit. They have brought out the mondial 2.0 but I'll less experience with it.
Anything you ride you look cool 😎, now you got my wife to get her bike license, now we can ride together cheers mate ❤, she wants to get a second bike 😮
I have to disagree with Mike about the R being a more comfortable ride, the RSs suspension is much more adjustable and even has a "comfort" setting not available on the R, the R is a great bike but the RS just trumps it on just about everything from it's looks (the colours only available on the RS) the stylema brakes, Ohlins suspension, bar end mirrors and extras, the extra power is only really noticeable at over 10,000 rpm. there is IMO one thing were the R is better, the TFT, the one on the RS is too cluttered with tiny letters and numbers were the one on the R is simple but tells you what you need to know with no fuss but the TFT is a minor gripe and the overall superiority of the RS swung it for me.
@@wl660 I have the same issue coming from a Trident. I would not want to go to another bike with the same display. The new Scrambler 1200x also is using that display. It would feel less like an upgrade if I had the same display on another bike. Nothing wrong with the display I just want a different one to help differentiate the bikes.
Saying “ it’s firm “ is basically a non comment, the BMW M3 is “ firm” …and don’t get one then . … The Eiffel Tower is high … ok so don’t climb up it then ! 😂

Your voice and accent are beautiful to listen. I could see your point about R but RS is way more beautiful and I feel that Ohlins suspension can be configured to everybody's riding style. I mean, it can't be that Showa is more plush than Ohlins? Or it can 🙂?

I bought a R in 2022, really love it - has an analogue tacho, which I much prefer, and they made them in matt black then, which I think looks great.
Loved mine in matte black but I just sold it off for the cosmic yellow. I guess i just needed a bit more color in my life lol
Totally agree. When they launched the 23 model I seriously considered swopping my 21 machine in solely because of the new IMU. It would have cost me 2 grand. In the end I decided to keep it purely because of the large analogue tacho. The TFT display looks so C & N.
Lack of decent colour choice is biggest issue with the R. If it was available in yellow, they'd ride themselves out the showroom.
Yeah, that colour options is a big selling point
Obviously Triumph does this on purpose, so you go for the RS
@@lateknights1 Or buy something else because there isn't a colour choice you like on the R model you can afford.
White looks great👍
Or Roulette Green🔥
Best bike I owned till this day... absolutely awesome 🔥
R has better display, engine feel the same, and Cheaper✊🔥
You sure the engines feel the same?
I'd expect the R to have a bit more grunt under 4.5k rpm and the RS to have a stronger top end.
