They probably handpicked her and didn't allow her to train anything else than english, just to use her as a propaganda tool. In North Korea, students showing exceptional talent or skills, especially in areas like language, arts, or sports, may be selected for specialized training programs. These individuals are sometimes used in ways that align with the regime's propaganda goals. Nothing is a coincidence, everything is controlled. But yes the girl is talented ofcourse, but not impossible with the level of hard work they basicly force them to do from very low age.

Obviously, propaganda from a written script! haha No way a young girl would say "our children can enjoy" ...if it was coming from her she would say "we can enjoy" there are many other areas that make is obvious as well.

      Right. This is seriously scripted.
Any kid, maybe, when talking about amusement parks, they'd be talking their favorite one, or the best time they had at them. Who they went with. Or maybe what games they like playing with their friends ect.
And I'm pretty sure children wouldn't be talking in such a clear way, I mean in such a monotonous way. And at one point when she's at the swimming pool it looks like she glances slightly to the side for a second.

    • @Kyuupire

While I don't doubt that the videos are scripted, she's not a native english speaker. In korean "our" is commonly used when talking about people. There's a good chance that she would've used the same words if she was translating from korean to english in her head

As a British person it is really unnerving to hear her accent. At times it sounds almost flawlessly English, but very recognisably odd. For one thing she sounds ridiculously posh, she also pronounces things too well for a child. She sounds like a middle aged duchess. If you look at the girl, she never smiles and no one is smiling in any of the shots. They also carefully chose a girl who looks like her diet is good. Every time she says 'our children' it gives me the creeps. She is a child and she's parroting the script that they gave her. No child would speak that way. The water park looks like a dumpy little place with a slide. Big deal there. Also, notice that all of the shots are very tight. No people in the background having conversations or children playing. There's this video analyzing the idea of "North Korean" influencers, and being North Korean and understanding how it works from both Korean perspectives, Hyunkyung manages to get a lot of points from that video:
    - Scripted lines and stilted delivery
    - Most fluent British English speaker in North Korea
    - No access to the internet unless you're the elite
    - Unrealistic displays of North Korea
    - Aimed towards Western audiences (the analysis video also mentioned China and Japan as targets for other influencers)
I guess that's the reason these videos aren't accessible in South Korea; they're trying to soften the viewpoints of South Koreans about North Korean that distracts from the overlying issues about North Korea.

For example, a popular tourist place, theme parks or even shopping malls. If you’re from the rural area or village, when people ask where do you wanna go, we will often say the popular place in the city. I honestly feel sorry for all North Koreans. We had the same regime, I even remember wearing those ugly red scarfs as a kid. You know what we did? We made revolution and now we have democracy. I don't understand why they are so obeying, while they could be thriving, like their neighbours. There is millions of them vs one tyrant and few soldiers ... it's worth of the freedom!

Song-Ah's 1st video sounds like the script was lifted wholesale and adapted from the Queen's Christmas Greetings! 😅
The rest, her delivery is so stilted, probably because she's trying so hard to not mess up the script… Hyunkyung saw right through it of course, but her nostalgia for General Seome was cute. I really hope Hyunkyung doesn't believe we Westerners buy into DPRK propaganda -- we usually just laugh at it. I almost feel bad for Song-ah… almost.

As an English person, you can tell her "accent" is a faked one, it's someone putting on the accent, clearly acting and reading a script as you said. It's the same as you'd hear from someone in USA pretending to do an English RP accent. All very forced. No one who learns English from a young age sounds like that.

    • @Soufriere84
      @Soufriere84 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The Queen did speak like that from a young age, but of course her circumstances were literally unique. No one else speaking English natively sounds like that. RP is basically dead anyway.

Her English is flawless, but not in a normal or natural way. The accent is odd. But mostly she sounds like an AI robot reading a script. Her word choices are very adult choices. (I was a language teacher in South Korea for 10 years, so it isn't a language barrier - it is saying what she is told to say). She has memorized everything from her manners to her script to the inflection. Poor kid.
