Wow! I’m shocked and honored to be chosen Model Railroad of the Year! The pictures and videos were submitted in May of 2023 and I’ve done a lot more since. Thank you Jimmy and to your viewers!
Hey jimmy- something to consider. TH-cam has an option where you can schedule a video to be released on a certain day or time. It’s helpful because you can work on several monday videos when you have time and just schedule them to be released every so often. It helps you stay ahead and avoid the crunch and burnout. Love the channel, love your content, keep up the great work man!
Congrats @michaelgoldman4021! Was excited to hear you will be doing more HO stuff Jimmy! Don't stress if videos slip, rather have you sane and quality videos then pressured and rushed.
Jimmy, sounds like great plans for 2025. As an HO modeler I’m glad to hear that you will be doing more HO stuff. One suggestion; you seem to be good at electronics so maybe explain what is involved in converting old blue box engines to DCC. I’ve seen people do those conversions and talk about changing the motors but not sure why and how to determine what motor to use where. I got the essentials figured out as far as what cables go where and I have done some successful conversions but always wondered about the motors. I came back to the hobby three years ago and been watching your channel and have learned a lot from your videos. Also have had the pleasure of meeting you at shows and appreciate your genuine sharing of the hobby. THANKS
Hi Jimmy. Love the channel! Just two things today. First, thanks for emphasizing KINDNESS. It costs nothing to be kind to others. The world can be so depressing at times and everyday life is a struggle for many. Just being kind can brighten someone's day or week! Also, you have convinced me to consider using T-Trak modules and Uni-Trak. I have been dragging my feet getting started with my new layout and they would expedite the process. However, I have a track plan or five in mind, but I'd like to see how to arrange them to make a layout I want. I definitely want a moderate size freight yard and I'm not sure how to accomplish that with the modules. Thanks for all you do for us. Take care!
No worry I will patiently wait for when you drop video. I enjoy learning from your channel and appreciate your content and know what ever day it comes out it will be worth watching. This new year is sounding great for content on the channel. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉 GOD BLESS 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
Definitely a great pic for the model railroad of the year, I will be interested in seeing the HO scale project since a lot of kids probably got a HO scale train set under the Christmas tree and I myself as an N scaler, just a suggestion on awards how about one for small model railroads anything from 2 ft by 4 ft put no larger than 3 ft by 6 ft what do you think
Jimmy, thanks again for your videos. I have learned so much and have tried so many different things over the years. Also, thank you for answering my questions in the past. I'm looking forward to a great 2025! Have a happy new year!
Why not just change your new video release day to Wednesday each week but aim to complete it on Sunday behind the scenes as normal, that way you have an the extra buffer to improve quality or if life happens, you still have days to recover without it putting additional stress on yourself. You could also consider swapping the coffee and trains to Monday and your full content to the Thursday slot to not upset the TH-cam algorithm and giving yourself additional time if this doesn't interrupt your recording schedule to much. Anyway, loving the channel, its inspired me to build my own T-Trak home layout with a simple loop and sidings at the moment. Still need to add scenery to the modules but my latest build was my first DCC-EX command station. Once I add some scenery I will send you an update for the next years Virtual Model Railroad showcase for next year.
Thank you, sir! I have always thought your videos were of exceptional quality. But...I concur with your thinking on always having a Monday video...don't jeopardize your health (i.e., lack of sleep) to meet that schedule. I know I love your channel and don't care when the video's drop (TH-cam might think otherwise, but hey ho). I truly enjoyed your model railroad of the year reveal. Alas, I look at something like that and ponder if I could ever be half as successful. Have a Blessed and enjoyable 2025 Jimmy. Happy Model Railroading.
I can not imagine someone giving you negative comments. If you haven’t seen it, classic model trains just put out a unboxing video of a huge donation. He will be selling the N scale stuff, because he mainly restores antique HO scale.
I really enjoy all your videos and content very informative and helpful especially being I have only been in N Scale science 2019 and I'm still learning new things every day
Hi Jimmy. In the UK, OO (the nearest we have to HO) has about 80% of the market, but my first love is still N gauge/scale. I hope you had a great Xmas and all best wishes for the New Year.
I would say I’m mostly an N scaler, but I’ve put away my layout I had in my smaller home, a portable layout, in favor of a U shaped HO layout. I’ve amassed a decent amount of rolling stock so far and a couple of engines. I DO have a couple of blue box locos that I’m looking to convert. Stuff I got in the 90s, largely. I also know that there are some other locos around that aren’t great for dcc installs, so seeing that, teaching people about the HO brands and quirks, some of the stuff people focus on, that would all be cool stuff.
Since I actually worked for a living my ho plans are on their second year with only rolling stock and plans so far. Building materials for layout not a Factor.
Hey Jimmy, I’ve been following your work and noticed you haven’t modeled any water features in your layouts. Just curious, what’s your reasoning behind that? Love your attention to detail overall!
I dunno... I was always attracted to your videos because you tended to focus on N scale. However, I'm sure I'll be watching regardless. You are a good presenter.
Oh don’t worry! I will still be primarily N scale. My HO scale adventures will be a bit different. It will also let me show the differences in the scales better
One thing to keep in mind is ALL the TH-cam gurus who say you have to make at least a video a week talk into a camera, they don't build anything. Take the time you need to make videos up to your standards, and let the talking heads talk as much as they want.
Perhaps consider adding a ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award? Someone who started this year, and their layout? Since I started 40 years or so ago, I "might not" be eligible.
Hope you still do mostly N scale videos. While about 60% of the hobby is HO, it seems like 90% of the video content available is. It's really hard to find good N scale content, so I don't want to loose that.
Wow! I’m shocked and honored to be chosen Model Railroad of the Year! The pictures and videos were submitted in May of 2023 and I’ve done a lot more since. Thank you Jimmy and to your viewers!
Congratulations 🎉

Your selection of the MRROTY for 2024 is spot on... That railroad looks fantastic. Kudos to Michael.

Happy new year I'm looking forward to seeing everything you have planned I know it will be great
Don't burn yourself out we'll watch then whether they drop on Monday or not
Family before TH-cam.
Good to see your diversifying I Didn't Do N, I do now 😅 Happy New Year!

Sounds like a fun 2025.
Solid plans, Jimmy! Thanks for all you create!
As a HO scaler I am excited to see what the channel will be doing with the scale.
You do a fantastic job... so please, please do NOT burn yourself out! Centre your needs please.
Yeap , just started...
Superb ✅ looking forward to seeing what others do as I continue with my 'Sandy Creek' (mk 3) layout on TH-cam as well😊

Does anyone here collect japanese trains?
Yes, but only the model trains. :)
I get a few Katos when I go to Japan each time
Australian N scale, yes
Nice!👍
They add variety
Since I actually worked for a living my ho plans are on their second year with only rolling stock and plans so far. Building materials for layout not a Factor.
Happy New Year, Jim. I hope your plans and hopes come true.
Oh, wait, do I hear God laughing? 😆

Aye

Maybe. Donate time to a local HO scale club. So you can do the HO projects and just keep the N scale at home.
Perhaps consider adding a ROOKIE OF THE YEAR award? Someone who started this year, and their layout? Since I started 40 years or so ago, I "might not" be eligible.

Review my layout man.😃 not great but presentable and easily expandable.
