Very good suggestions at 44:00 mins. But we still need one university where a hybrid type of education Is possible - for the naturally talent : main lectures by professors from the first world , supported by assistants from Pakistan for tutorials and examinations etc. On the other hand, what are we going to do with our army of professors and phd s, who take pride in producing students who have plus a hundred papers in their phd dissertation ? They will oppose any reform tooth and nail.

@03:45. "Chimgaadad ki aankhen nahi hoti". Sir, that is not correct. Googling "bats eyes" will turn up photos of bats with eyes. True, they are adapted to extremely low light. They do use very sophisticated sonar. But they do have eyes.

29:19 interesting how prof hoodbhoy keeps putting down Hindus… does not mention that Hindus accepted reform both pre and post independence, while Muslims rejected all attempts at reform both pre and post independence…

Both Nadeem and Pervez were pretty bold in this discussion off course within limits as permitted. They fail to mention that Bharat since ages always had a flourishing university system - Nalanda, Takshashila (in present day Pakistan), Kashi, Kashmir etc where sciences and arts training was imparted. The university system was an extension of the gurukul system that were present locally and embedded into Santana Dharma (includes Buddhism and Jainism) where knowledge seeking is sought and not believing. The question on why science did not flourish in Pakistan should be reposed as why science does not have any correlation with Islam (I bet both Nadeem and Pervez were itching to do so but settled on safety). Simple answer to this question can be found by understanding why Bakhtiyar Khalji burnt whole of Nalanda university in the 11th century. . It is said that it took 6 months to burn all university. Off course, he killed thousands of teachers and students. We cannot fathom how much knowledge was lost forever. But why did he do it - answer lies in the ideology he was dutifully following.

so one thing i keep thinking is Islam itself encourages thinking, logic, but our education system is dominated by somewhat traditional educational mindset (no connection with islam ofc)..cz u can compare pak with azerbaijan or iran(also muslim country) but their educational syst is of top ranks. You see Islam isnt, but our mindset is issue.

Nalanda and Taxila were Buddhist institutions which were flourished due to their anti-Hinduistic thoughts of research and learning for all. Hinduism is a latter construct evolving out of the crash of Buddhist political decline.

The age of a professor teaching in the school is over. Over the time there will be a cheap education where you can access pre-recorded instructions and work with various instructions to resolve any issue you may have. However, premium and expensive education will be where a student work with a professor to experiment and research.

Dr. Hoodbhoy says Hindus advanced in studies because Muslim rulers employed Hindus for accounting and business deals and the British repressed Muslims after 1957 mutiny more than Hindus. Wrong. Hindus are inclined towards studies and knowledge genetically, which is proved by enormous numbers of books written by Hindus (Sanatanies) like the Ved,(not Vedas), on astrology, on medicine, on sexology, ancient Universities of Nalanda & Takshashila. He admitted that all the people of Pakistan were Hindus or otherwise, who were converted to Islam after rule of invaders. Dr. Hoodbhoy himself had admitted in his so many talks at various times, that In Pakistan children are not encouraged to ask questions (watch his talks on introduction of new curriculum in Pakistan) . I don't know why he avoided this fact when he answered the question.

No original work is done in India. The education system hardly encourages curiorisity among school students. Large sections of Indians either don't send their students to school or go to government schools where there is no building. Often there is just one teacher. The elite colleges like IITs, etc. get students from upper caste, upper class coming from English medium private school. Even they are mediocre because our education system follows the colonial system where creativity is not encouraged. Students are made to mug up a whole array of books. Even the entrance exams to IITs, medical and other technical institutes is a sort of lottery of students answering a very long list of objective questions. I can understand Pakistan is worse but India is not known for breakthroughs in science. India produces technical personnel who are re-educated and absorbed by companies in the West. India provides cheap low-level software personnel through large Indian companies which don't develop their own products but provide support services like network maintenance, adapting software for different uses. Our space programme has been heavily dependent on Soviet and even Western technology. Indians too are known for jugad but that doesn't demand the rigours of science.
