    I love your method for impulse spending. Mine is similar- I have a running wishlist in Google sheets where I link the item, the price, the reason why I want it. It helps so much while shopping sales/ second hand to keep focused and sometime I just get over novelty of the item and forgo buying

    • @CarterSullivan

      Yes I love this idea! Helps save so much money & half the time I realize I didn't actually need it, just wanted it in the moment!

    Why not use the library? That's mostly how I read my books and I only buy anything I can't get at the library but really want to read.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've talked about this many times and it's just a personal preference and what I choose to spend my money on. Our library system is great here in Ottawa but the wait times are terribly long, usually months for any new release. I'm also a HUGE germaphobe and the idea of reading a book that many others have touched really freaks me out. So if that means buying my own books then so be it. I also buy about 90% of my books used, for example I bought 12 books this month and spent less than $25 on all of them. I also only buy new books if it's an author I really love or a book I know I will enjoy! I genuinely enjoy building my own little home library and it's what I choose to spend my money on. I find as a society we don't criticize those who spend money on expensive makeup at Sephora but when it comes to books everyone thinks we need to use the library. I think we all have those areas that we enjoy spending money on and mine is books! Not clothes, not makeup, not getting my nails done. Hopefully this makes sense!

      @@CarterSullivan Yeah, wasn't judging what you spend your money on. Just making a suggestion since you talked about being on a book ban.

      @@stefflores totally fair!! Me going on a book ban wasn't for money reasons but to catch up on my physical TBR! I've decided banning things and restricting just doesnt work for me😂

    Totally agree about the westjet credit card...just not worth it. Honestly brutal that it doesn't even get you free checked bags or seat selection, and the points take forever to add up! Also had the same experience with their customer service. Overall just want to voice that I def don't recommend it either!

    For me, the individual lightning lane was worth it for Animal Kingdom’s Flight of Passage ride. Other than that, I wouldn’t waste the money on buying genie plus there. It was SOOO worth it at Magic Kingdom!! I can’t wait for the vids coming soon and seeing you pack for it. It’ll be so exciting. ✨
    Also, I’d love to see the different streams of income/credit cards. I used to work in banking, and I always think that type of information isn’t taught anymore. It would be very informative!

    I usually don’t comment but I hope maybe you’ll see this. One time I called my insurance company and just asked if my rate could be lowered because I’ve had it for five years and only one speeding ticket but the price only got higher each year and vehicle, and they actually brought the price down when I asked!!
    But I’m not sure how it would work cause of the accidents on your records but definitely worth a try

    I constantly hear people talking about investing their money but I literally have no idea where to start. My brain immediately goes to stocks but I feel like I'm missing something. Would you consider a video on your investing basics?

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have considered but I just don't find myself knowledgeable enough on it to. film a video on it! If you're in Canada, Steph & Den are a great financial channel and they have lots of investing videos for beginners! Investing is quite different between Canada/USA FYI not sure where you live but the accounts and names are different!

    Max out your retirement accounts. You have the money and that’s probably the best thing you can do for your future.

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already contribute to my pension and TFSA ☺️ Right now my #1 priority is home renovations & once we are past that I will dump as much money into my retirement accounts as I can! But I am contributing a decent amount to them, I just don't say it in every video because it gets repetitive!

    We do a contribution to crypto and S&P500. We keep the money amount the same every month (they call this dollar cost averaging). This way you’re investing as the market is fluctuating both good and bad, you’re always investing, and over time it continues to have compound interest. With crypto taking off, it’s of course hard to know how to distribute that as the market shifts but we just do 50/50 on those. Our primary before we did this was dump EVERY penny into debt free (mortgage) and would pay like THOUSANDS more as much as we could.

      Love that for you! Defs not super comfortable investing into crypto yet but Matt does & he does most of out investing!
