Agreed, QE without commodities just doesn't land as good. But with the expansion it is superb.
When you described Basari: You don't exchange resources into other resources in that game... Roll and move, then you take gems, points, or roll a die to move and get points. Choose one of those, but if multiple players choose the same action you have to barter to determine who gets to do the action. You want to have the most gems of a type at the end of a round for bonus. 100% not about exchanging resources into other resources. Unless you consider bartering the same as exchanging? Not like Century in any way. A decent game though!
On the graphics on the bottom it says 5years ago but 2023.
I'm a long-time fan of the Thunderstone franchise, the original version being the first hobby game I got super into. I somehow missed the boat on Numenera. It didn't show up at my local game store and I felt like it was in print for, like, one month. By the time I was looking for it online, it was impossible to get at a reasonable price. Not a super big deal now since I've long given away all of my pre-Quest Thunderstone collection, but it is still a bit sad to look back on that being the only non-promo Thunderstone release that I never owned.

I actually prefer Carcassonne: The City the most in the Carc line. I think it is STILL OOP now for years.
@dice tower - For vindication (I have the big version and expansion) how do you get away from the artifact strategy. That broke that game for me. It was good get the magic items and you win. At least in 2-3 player.

If you look through the Vindication BGG forums, you’ll see threads for “why are relics OP”, “why are monsters OP”, and “why are traits OP”. The general consensus is that the right combo can make any set of cards look OP, which is why the game is largely a puzzle of finding the most OP combination for that current game’s random set-up and exploiting it better than other players exploit their OP strat.

As someone who loved Gloomhaven, I hated Frosthaven. Mainly due to the scenario design. WAY too many scenarios that sidelined the combat (the best part) and forced you to focus on some annoying puzzle or other hoops to jump through. It's like they took all the most annoying and unfun scenarios of Gloomhaven, and made them the standard. It sucked all the fun out of the game. We abandoned it after week 20.
We actually love the changes. Gloomhaven was absolutely amazing but it got too easy after the first 20 scenarios. Frosthaven offers us a much more challenging version and a lot of variety in the scenarios which keeps the gameplay fresh every time. Looking forward to our week 30 or so tomorrow.

Im surprised Gen7 didn't drop. In hindsight, that game did not work as well as I think Tom's rating places it.
Considering everything seems to get an 8 from someone, 6 is pretty low it seems.
@@KissellMissile This is just Tom's review of the game, not the Dice Tower as a whole. Gen7 was, from my memory, not a good game.
I’ve seen Gen7 on sale for about 90% off in places, so I don’t think that game sold very well.
