    Thank you Dr Joe. I had stomach bug and was prescribed an antibiotics which raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels. I stopped taking it and it took up to one week for my blood pressure to return to normal. Thank you for creating this awareness.

    I just watched this video and can now understand why I had a spike with my bp. I was consuming green tea combined with moringa and bitter cocoa. My bp was 110/80 then later 130/90 but in a short while it increased to 160/100 which I didn't understand. I was thinking it will decrease because I was told green tea, moringa and bitter cocoa decreases bp, but it rather increased because of the caffeine in it which I didn't know till now. Thank you for this education . You have really saved me.

    Thank you so much..these meds go unnoticed. What surprised me was recently I found myself sleeping less and working hard, my housekeeper was on leave etc. My pressure went so high.. I am still in shock over how high it went. Does lack of sleep overly raise pressure? I was not taking caffeine or anything that I would think to raise it/ the only diet change was taking a new type of organic honey on toasted bread. Please elaborate on that as well.
    Also I am curious about the following:
    1. What levels (points) of pressure - are raised with a cup of tea? 1 teabag (Lipton tea) or a spoon of coffee.
    2. Is decaf really without caffeine or is it reduced caffeine?
    3. Is your pressure raised when you drink less water during the day?
    4. Is there a natural chemical in honey that raises pressure?

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Deb, yes, lack of sleep does raise blood pressure. That's why I have a lot of videos on sleep on this channel.
      As for your question on Lipton. Lipton tea is black tea. Lipton is just a brand of black tea. It's not ideal for BP control. If you noticed I mentioned black tea in this video as an offender.
      Questions:
      1. What levels (points) of pressure - are raised with a cup of tea? 1 teabag (Lipton tea) or a spoon of coffee.
      Answer: It varies from person to person, so not easy to give you a ballpark figure. Caffeine-sensitive individuals like myself can have top reading (systolic) go up by as much as 15 - 20 points after consuming caffeine.
      2. Is decaf really without caffeine or is it reduced caffeine?
      Answer: No, decaf does not mean Zero caffeine. It's just got 90 - 95% less caffeine.
      3. Is your pressure raised when you drink less water during the day?
      Answer: Yes. Dehydration will raise your BP
      4. Is there a natural chemical in honey that raises pressure?
      Answer: Not necessarily but honey contains sugar and sugar is not good for BP control

      White coat hypertension is phenomenon that occurs in the presence of a medical personnel. It is real and it's caused by anxiety. Your BP will be normal at home, yet 15 minutes later at the doctor's office, it's high. Get back home, BP is normal again. That's typical white coat hypertension

    • @drjoetvMD

      Tajudeen, celery juice is not a miracle juice and I don't want you to view it as one. There are so many factors why it may not work for you not least you doing things that may sabotage your BP reduction efforts. What you eat, your starting BP, your genetics, your level of physical activity, your sleep, using caffeinated products etc. And of course no product works for everybody. Not even conventional Big Pharma medications

    I love following your videos, very informative. Thank you so much and God bless you Dr. Joe.
    I would love if you will research and talk about topical application and inhalation of some essential oils and if they have effect on blood pressure and anxiety.
    I am asking this because most of us ladies may use store bought products for their hair with some of these essential oils in either high or medium concentration or do a DIY hair product with some of these essential oils and would have to leave it on the scalp for a while.
    I want to know how and if it does affect blood pressure or heighten anxiety.
    Few of the essential oils are
    Rosemary, Peppermint, Teatree, Basil, Sage, Clary sage, Neroli, Yarrow, Chamomile etc.
    I have experienced heightened anxiety after use of a strong scented oil but had thought about it before it happened so I am not sure if it's the oil or my thoughts that premeditated it.

      No, you shouldn't reduce your BP medication(s) all by yourself, Rajesh. It's got to be a joint decision between you and your doctor. I think you got it wrong there. I am not saying Tofu is bad for your BP per see. But if you are taking certain medications like Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or herbal preparations like St John's Wort, that's when Tofu becomes an issue because of the interaction between Tofu and those pills. Tofu has tyramine just like some Soy sauces. So unless you are taking MAOIs or St John's Wort, then you shouldn't worry about Tofu or Soy products

    • @drjoetvMD
      @drjoetvMD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's mainly oral medications. You could get away with ointments and creams although it depends on the cream. A lot of creams and ointments work "skin-deep". Meaning very little of it is absorbed into your bloodstream. But there are some like hormone gels that get absorbed a lot more into the bloodstream. So it depends on the type...
