STAR WARS LEGENDS: Death troopers 2 - Outbreak on Dathomir | An Animated Fan Film (3D)

- One year Before Battle of Yavin (1 BBY) , the Blackwing virus (an infectious viral agent created through the powers of Sith alchemy) was accidentally unleashed aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer VECTOR, and later in the Imperial prison barge PURGE, turning all of the personnel into violent undeads (See the novel "Death Troopers" by Joe Schreiber).
After this incident, the project was not canceled and Darth Vader sent a commando of Death Troopers to recuperate the virus into the Star Destroyer Vector and relocate it to a secret Imperial Research and Prison Facility on the remote planet Dathomir.
We are very pleased to share this short STAR WARS LEGENDS movie, all made in 3D by ourselves without AI. The goal of this project was to make a link between the novel "Death Troopers" and the 2003 video game "Star Wars Galaxies".

lest your ignorant of its origin and nature the first Blackwing virus was created by Sith Lord Darth Drear on Odacer-Faustin somewhere around 4645 BBY during a period of unrest following the Great Galactic War.
it was originally intended to grant immortality to its crafter, through the use of Sith alchemy and where there is alchemy involved, it also heavily draws on the Darkside rather than any baryonic, biological or genetic science the galactic empire knows off.

Thats terrifying! Imagine seeing a Storm trooper just standing thier but without his blaster in his hands as hes doing like a wavy idle animation and does not respond but instead yells at you and tries to bit your face off with rotting teeth and bleeding gums. :O

Animation looks really GREAT but a few things.
1. If this is post outbreak that Star Destroyer needs to be a LOT more run down and dirty. The place was described as a junk heap on the inside since the infection ran rampant for weeks if not well over a month. Needs blood splatters everywhere too.
2. While we don't know if Death Trooper armour could keep out the airborne strain we know regular Stormtrooper armour eventually fails and gets compromised so maybe give the Death Troopers some kind of hazmat gear or attachments to their helmets.
3. While the undead are resilient to blaster fire they aren't immune to it. Standard E-11s work decently well in dropping them and a Death Troopers E-11D is more powerful so, they actually won't have that much difficulty dropping individual zombies so long as they focus fire, if they encounter a horde then it gets iffy.

1. As can be read in chapter 7 of the novel, when Sartoris arrives in the hangar with his team, everything is clean because there are droids which still do their job (cleaning, tidying up, …). The air is fresh. In the other parts (the medical research labo, some corridors where Han and Chewie saw the horde of Undeads falling from the roof, and of course, the garbage where Trig meets Undead Kale), there is blood, remnants of bodies, … So, don’t worry, there will be blood and devastated rooms in the 1,6 kilometers of the Vector 😉
2. What is horrible in the novel is that, even Bio Hazard (Hazmat) suits do not protect people (see in the Purge). So, even an armour-Hazmat for Death Trooper would not protect them. We can’t tell you more about this point because this would spoil the next part … this is an important part of the story 🫢
3. You noticed that Death Troopers are accurate (contrary to Stormtroopers 😉) 👏👏. In the novel, Undeads can, indeed, be stopped by stormtroopers E-11 blaster rifle … but here, this does not work. Again, we’ve an explanation in the next part … but we can’t say more.
This is a great pleasure to talk about the novel and our sequel 👍
This along with the original Death Troopers novel should be considered Canon because how good they are. I say that this is amazing!

Your comment is interesting, because, in the novel, there is a mountain of bodies which could form a huge creature which could attack the commando of Death Troopers. We are not sure to put this in the story.
@@LyLuLeCreative yes, they are the bosses and mini bosses in most RE entries. The fact there are a SF unit in a dark and isolated environment fighting against zombies gave the RE2 and the first movie vibes. I guess you could if you want to give variety to the infections of the Blackwing Virus.

We all know that Death Troopers have voice scramblers, and to understand what they are saying you have to put on the helmet. I thought it was interesting to hear what they sound like to each other as if you're wearing a Death Trooper helmet. Very cool detail.

I hope you play with the Commlink of the Death Troopers
For Example: One of them gets Infected and the Virus really struggles to turn the Commlink of the infected Death Trooper and his Hand shakes and missies the Bottons multible times.
(because Sounds can be heard outside the Helmet like we see everytime a Death Trooper shows up in Media)
(I dont know if Death Troopers have there Commlink on the Armwrist or Helmet?) I Think the Helemt would be cooler because it would really look like the Virus needs to adabt on a new body with new Equipment.
And Another gets Infected and the end listens and the rest of the group notice a very quiet breathing sound and decied to switch to another commlink channel because they dont want to hear they Friend in this State.
*So this would be the last Idea:
One of the Infected death Troopers learn to speak again and says he will check on the Landing craft they Came here on so he can infect the Pilots.

In the novel “Death Trooper”, we can see that the Undeads can learn and/or do what they knew when they were alive. So, it could be possible that one learn to speak.

@@LyLuLeCreative I think the Blackwing Virus was even canonized, but ended up being an internal affair the Empire dealt with mostly themselves, but rumors circulating around the galaxy about the failed project prompted Palpatine to name those elite soldiers Death Troopers for the intimidation factor. So they are CANONICALLY named after the infamous zombie stormtroopers lol. At least, that's what I remember hearing.

We agree with you. Death Troopers are the elite of the Empire. Nevertheless, the Undead Troopers in the novel are not like other zombies ... they think, they evolve, they collaborate ... so, it won't be as easy for them as we could think 😱 😉
Yeah, they may be elite and extremely OP but there’s 37k infected naval personnel and almost 10k infected stormtroopers.
We agree with you @@suh2242 and that's, indeed, the problem this commando have. In the novel, we can read that there is around 10 000 people in the Vector. Even if, in chapter 35, Commander Gorrister said to Sartoris that there is less than 10 000 Undeads in the Vector.
But, even it's 5 000 or 8 000 Undeads, the Death Troopers are in big trouble.
And you can't imagine what they will find soon ...

We are working hard on this web series. The squad of Death Troopers are ready (th-cam.com/video/HC-lW-ph3Q0/w-d-xo.html), the corridors are almost finished, the hangard must be adapted to the end of the novel (the main hangar control and the wall burnt because of the undeads who tried to kill Dr Cody), the imperial shuttle is almost adapted for hazardous situations. We have voice actors (who always ask when they will start to record 😉). We hope we'll release chapter one and two late 2024 🤞

Oui, nous avons beaucoup travaillé et créé de nouveaux pipelines dans nos compétences avec ce projet, qui en plus est passionnant au niveau de l'histoire qui se trouve entre le roman Death Troopers et le jeu vidéo "Star Wars Galaxies".
To fight these undead troopers.. only an immune Jedi /Sithlord could handle them easily.. f.e Vader /Anakin Skywalker from ROTS would make slice´n dice withe them. Not even the "Death Troopers" could handle them..zombies in general are tough and hard to fight, because their body adapts to the environment and they are generally resistant against bullets/laser shots .. and this is a real good animation.. looks like from a video game introduction, where you see the beginning and can´t wait to fight these undead troopers! Hope there would be a sequel to this one or a new movie, i would watch it immediately!!

Indeed, we agree with you: only a Jedi/Sith Lord could get rid of them (immune or in a HAZMAT suit). Another comment suggested to send flametroopers to burn them all. That's always interesting to brainstorm with other people; this brings a lot of interesting thoughts and ideas.
You've perfectly understood what Undeads are: tough and hard to fight, they adapts. In the novel "Death Troopers", they "learn" and still have memories of what they were able to do when they were alive.
This short animated movie was a pitch to see if the audience want to see more. We got so much kind and motivating comment that we are working on the whole story. This will be a web series (11 episodes). You can see the progression of the project in the shorts we made. We hope you'll like it 😁

🤔Wow. Darth Vader sent a commando of Death Troopers to search Star Destroyer Vector. Soon they found out that Stormtrooper was infected got bloody and armor broken with the others got infected along Star Destroyer Vector. Commando of Death Troopers tried to fire a them and then fall back. Seriously I wonder what happen to them. Everyone want to know it.

😲After Death Trooper in Novel they escape from Star Destroyer Vector cause they're full of zombie to take over ship cause got accident to spread virus make them full turn into infected Stormtrooper and Imperial Officer outbreak on that ship. And they left Star Destroyer Vector was abandon on space near planet.
Asking why no one warning them that ship was completely board full of infected and what's has happen!?

We don't know if you remember the novel, but it's written that some members of the crew of the Vector think that this experiment was programmed by the Empire and they were part of the experiment (it's in chapter 35). So, this part could explain that the Empire knew that the Vector was infected. It's just a theory, of course, that Gorrister explains in this chapter.
Whatever, an experiment or an accident, a Star Destroyer missing must be found, especially one with such an important thing that the Blackwing virus.

To answer your question: the commando of death troopers entered the Vector to get back the Blackwing virus before sending it to the secret Imperial Research and Prison Facility on Dathomir. In other words, this is the link between the novel "Death Troopers" and the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies ("Game Update 14," released in 2009). A lot of ideas to tell 😉
Don't worry, the death troopers won't give up too easy. It's just the strategy to retreat and find another way to get the virus without too much loss. But, the horde which is coming toward them is not the worst; there is another event that they had not expected ... 😱

Well, i suppose Death Troopers would be the only ones who would accept such an assignment. Badass as they are though, THAT STILL a BATTALION of UNDEAD Stormtroopers and command staff they have to kill. I think their gonna need more firepower.
Also i can totally picture Darth Vader Force Choking those Undead troopers, only for them to get back up like nothing happened. Hmmmm, makes me wonder if forces uses can even sense the Undead.... Maybe.
Indeed, only Death Troopers could go and get the Blackwing virus back ... event if they were not aware that there was so much Undeads in the Vector as the zombies were able to shut down the communications (Death Trooper novel). If they new, they would have sent droids 😉 ... but it's too late, they are in the Vector with thousands of Undeads. Do they have enough firepower or not? How will they go through this ? Answer in the next part 😁
We had the same thought : Vader against a horde of Undeads. We can't say more, but we have our own idea in scene that we'll make.

Indeed, in the novel, some Tie pilots tried to escape but they did not make it (we are working on a scene like this). At the end of the novel Death Trooper, some Undeads tried to escape with the fighters in the ISD VECTOR to spread in the galaxy, but they failed because they were too far from the Blackwing virus. What happened to these fighters, floating with "dead" Undeads? We'll explain this in Death Troopers 2.

Of course I'm a huge legends fan so I'm familiar with both Red Harvest and Death Troopers and the hints dropped in Death Troopers that the zombie virus somehow originated from the Mnggal-Mnggal who inhabit areas in and around the unknown regions where the original book took place. It's all pretty interesting if your not familiar with them.
Well I'll be keeping an eye out, if you guys do end up making your story I'll watch it with interest I always liked the stuff from legends the various zombie style virus's were always my favorite because of how horrifying they are. The Technobeast Plague being another good one.

According to the novel, in chapter 35, Commander Gorrister said to Sartoris that there is less than 10 000 Undeads in the Vector. Not all turned to Undeads, but there are thousands and thousands of them.

They move back to put in firing position with a possible retreat while stile shooting them... and they did well because, the lasers don't stop them (even in the head). But they have another plan for the mission, don't worry for them 😉
