It feels so good to hear you say "it's all right" we definitely feel overwhelmed at this time of year, we need to speak to ourselves to calm down, and that's exactly what your video does to our frantic minds, thanks Vita, keep up the good work and good vibes 🥰
You have a lot of work ahead of you girl! I cant wait to see your plants next spring. We got light snow here in SE MI. 😢 I'm so sad. My gardening season is over. I'm still gathering up leaves and whipping them into mulch to lay on top of the cardboard in the landscape. I havent had the heart to overwinter my geraniums yet because they're blooming like crazy ❤ so I've been putting them in the shed at night and bringing them out during the day. I'll probably overwinter them this weekend. Gonna use the paper bag method. 👍🏻 Hoping they make it thru the winter. 🤞
I definitely have my work cut out for me right now. At this point I figure whatever I get done I get done. Oh wow, snow?! Ugh! We have very cold weather headed our way but no snow (yet) as far as I can see in the forecast. I'd love to hear how the paper bag method works for you for the geraniums. I've had a lot of luck using that method. 😊🌻
I love seeing what you are up to. I cannot do a quarter of what you can do physically. I wish I still could. But I putter around the yard and hire out what I can’t do. God’s blessing to you and your family.
Thank you, friend. 💗 Just getting out in your yard a little here and there is great therapy for your body, mind and soul. It's important to know your limits and I'm glad you hire out help as needed. Happy gardening! 🙏🏼🪻
@ we use to have a large vegetable garden. And I canned and dehydrated. With the help of my neighbors I started a small vegetable garden, and I hired out someone to put perennials on a steep slope. I don’t want the boy and his father I hired for mowing to have to deal with that. I can’t wait till spring. I’m going to take a trip down to shop at your nursery. God’s blessings to you and your family.
Thanks for making this video. It’s helpful for me to see that you heel plants in the ground too. This is my first year doing it as well. I propagated nepeta and Chicago Fig for 1st time and hopefully they make it over the winter ( Pa zone 7)😊
Hi Vita, so glad I stumbled upon your video, I immediately subscribed! I am in zone 6aPA & totally relate to you, Very Overwelmed by my leftover gardening chores to do yet! GREAT VIDEO I learned alot, even though I'm WAY OLDER 😂 than you, Thank you for the great info!😊
Hi Robinn. Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel. I truly appreciate your support, friend! 💗 I tell everyone that age is just a number. 😂 Happy gardening, my friend! 🌸
I so relate to this! I don't have a business yet, but I have a "nursery" because I love to propagate, like you, and I've been feverishly planting flowers out for months and re-doing my beds. I can't believe it will be Thanksgiving next week. I'm going to heel in the rest of my plants that are extra in hopes that once they've over wintered they might sell in the spring (mostly foxgloves and hydrangeas) for some extra gardening money. I found that people weren't so interested in foxgloves in the fall, even though it seems like the best time to plant them to me.
Greetings! When I sold Foxglove 2 years ago, they completely sold out during the Springtime. I think you'll have very good luck next Spring as well. Happy gardening, friend! 😊🌸
I have to gather all of my leaves, chop them and put on my garden beds. Plant daffodils and tulips. Hopefully I will get done this weekend. We got 2’ of snow a week ago, so some things I can’t do yet.
Question…when you winter sow perennials, and you know they will not bloom the 1st year, do you keep those plants in your nursery the 1st year? I have been saving milk jugs all year and hope to have lots of perennials this Spring.
Hi there. Great question! Yes, I put all winter sown seedlings down in the plant nursery since they won't bloom for at least 2 years. Also, I love being able to shop my nursery as I tackle flower beds and when I see color in the nursery, it inspires me to find a home for those plants. That's great that you've been saving so many milk jugs for winter sowing. It'll be fun to get them planted with seeds this winter! 😊💗
Good info about heeling - but amazed that works well enough in cold NH. Only other comment is - ditch the Lysimachia. Don't sell or share plants that are a pain in the butt to remove and eradicate. We planted this years ago and it took a couple years to truly eliminate. Besides, so many good native alternatives that can be useful for critically important insects.
Living in the low AZ desert I guess heeling in my pots during our extreme hot summers may help them survive. I gave up trying to have late spring/summer gardens.
I am maintaining my garlic bed ( watering we haven’t had enough rain from August until this morning to say so. Built a new raised bed for strawberries next spring, filling it with one layer of cardboard some pine shavings , chicken coop cleanings two five gallon buckets. Then topped of with leafs and horse manure, added some worms and will let it sit for the winter months. Working on a big bunch of compost to fill the bed next spring. Do you plant strawberries? Wondering what varieties work for you?
Oh wow! It sounds like you have some wonderful plans for your garden. I do have strawberries - in two raised beds. I have alpine strawberries and even though they are small in size they produce non-stop from Spring through Fall! I also have a larger variety that produces twice a season but I don't know what variety it is. I really need to move and thin out strawberries next year. Be on a lookout for that video! 😊🍓
You have a bigger property than I do, HOW DO you keep wildlife from eating everything you grow out side? I deal with rabbits and birds that eat seedlings and small plant. I now cover anything I am starting with tulle or in a shade room we made. I am turining my hobby into a small business this year. Our first SALE is this weekend. I hope it is successful!
Hi there. Fortunately the wild life (such as deer) do not really bother with my plant nursery. Honestly I'm not sure why and I don't do anything to deter them from that area. I haven't had any rabbits or bunnies but I've heard that we are starting to have bunnies and rabbits more and more in New Hampshire, so unfortunately it's just a matter of time before they find my garden. 😔🐰 If wildlife start nibbling on my plants, I may have to put up a tall fence or something. Time will tell. I'd love to hear how you make out with your first plant sale. Good luck, friend! 🤞🏼😊🌻

Wow you have a lot of plants in you nursery!!!!
I definitely increased my stock of plants compared to last year! I can't wait to start selling again in the Springtime. 😊🌸🐝

You got this. Vita! Love that you keep it real. ❤️
Thanks, Jen! It's the race against the time here as it's going to be getting real cold fast. 😊🌸
I’m also so glad you had a great trip to India. It must have been so wonderful to reunite with family. ❤️
Thanks, Jen! It really was such a lovely visit. I can't wait to go back again one day. 💞😊

Thank you! Heeling plants in has been a game changer for me. 😊 Great advice regarding planting and selling native plants. 🌸🦋🐛🐝
