In my almost 30 years of gaming, my most memorable moment was when I spent the last week before my 500 day achievement which I wanted to spend at the summit of Timberwolf mountain since that is where my run began, I spent the last week gathering some supplies and meat, the weather took a turn for the worse during the last few days as I was heading to the summit, freezing and a little nervous that this could end badly I was attacked by two wolves, I took refuge in a cave near the summit. I recouped over night and headed to the summit on day 498. I set up my bearskin bedroll on top of the tail section of the plane and made a fire, I cooked up some wolf meat and made some coffee and then a storm rolled in. I thought, great I guess this is how my 500th day is gonna end. It stormed all through day 499 and just as I was gonna sleep and get my achievement the storm passed and the skyes opened to a awesome aurora which went all through the night. So I rolled into my 500th day on top of the plane overlooking Timberwolf mtn enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of this unbelievable game. Thank you hinterland!!!
That's what I love about this game. I had a similair situation, getting into a tough snowstorm in Pleasent Valley, I got disoriontated and panicked. I thought I wouldn't get through this storm and that this was the end. I found a big rock stayed close to it, put down my bedroll, got my oil lamp out and slept with it. Hour by hour, my health getting worse and at the moment that I was giving up the storm was gone. I couldn't believe it, it was one of the most hardest and magical nights I came across in this game. I would never forget the feeling of surviving that night.
From what I remember the ability to dismantle snow shelters has always been in the game. However, I don't think you were ever able to dismantle ruined shelters such as the ones in HRV. This new update changes that
Yea when I camp I go in the middle of nowhere bringing nothing and no way to escape and also choose my feats bring badges bring my girl a long controlling my girl get hit in the head with a hatchet Kill a bear down with a spear die and respawn so seems accurate 😀👍
Purchasing The Long Dark has been the best gaming-related investment I've made. With over 400 hours of total gameplay overall, after constant updates, QOL improvements and content, I can confidently say that this is one of, if not the best, gaming experiences of my life. Keep up the amazing work!

Portal 2 on sale is the best bang for buck game. The workshop is filled with thousands of community made puzzle chambers. Off course you have to enjoy first person puzzlers though.
I have over 1000 hours and sometimes I feel bad. Maybe I should buy it again lol. I've been playing since very early version, when even wood collecting was not a thing and you could hunt wolves by dropping a torch.
This will always be my "Labor of Love" choice! I love this game, I can play it anytime of the year, and become so engrossed I always wonder why there isn't a snowstorm outside when I surface!
Agreed, i dont think multiplayer is the way to go, but definitely 2-person co-op. It might even make things harder with having to feed 2 people vs stocking up for one

I wanted to thank you all for making such an under rated amazing game that is the long dark. I bought this game when it first came available on steam and I have to say it's one of my favourite games that I own. Every time you guy's update this game I jump back into to test out the updates and see how the game has changed. This was one of the best buy's I have gotten of of steam almost as good as left 4 dead 2, I have almost 150 hours in game already and for the price that's one hell of a deal! I have spent more on games and got bored only after a couple hours. Thou the story mode is great, I spend most of my time doing just survival run's. Keep up the amazing work your efforts are much appreciated!

No longer will I open the hood of a car expending things to be different, I knew there would be a use for the car batteries eventually I just never imagined they would play a part in making bullets!
I started playing in 2014, and I have to say you guys have made my favorite game of all time. I couldnt put it down from the get go. Nothing keeps me coming back like The Long Dark. Nothing stays fresh the same way. I remember when you guys first added Timberwolf Mountain I was like a kid on christmas, and when my first attempt at the summit went bad all I felt was determination. The day started clear but by the time I was on the last leg, a blizzard had started to kick up and I was on the edge of exhaustion so took a gamble on climbing the last section to the plane. I lost my grip one pull from the top then woke up in the dead of night in a blizzard on the edge of freezimg and stumbled off the edge because I couldnt see more than a couple feet in front of me lol. You guys have gone so far above and beyond the call of duty in building a world that feels alive and interesting yet isolated and mysterious with a truly unique gameplay experience to match. And I've never seen another dev listen and communicate with their community the way y'all do. Whatever youre doing, keep doing it, you guys are awesome :)

I love how you can tell the developers of this game really care about it. This game is one of my all time favorites, I just recently got it when it went onto Xbox game pass and I love it. I used to watch series of it on TH-cam and so much has changed its like I’m discovering a whole new game, I remember when mystery lake was the only map and learning about all the different places I can go is incredible, it’s truly a good well crafted experience, I also like the art style.

Its beautiful and calming and I can dive into it whenever I want. I love the aesthetic, the landscapes, the music. Its my light in darkest times. Thank you. Cant wait to keep playing.

Very few games retain my attention like The Long Dark has and even after I’ve played less, I can return after a semester of school back to where I left off, and with an update. This Awesome game saved my Christmas Holidays in 2020. Under Lockdown and being alone was really hard but this game got me off guard. I did not expect much at first but it was a Blast. Seriously one of the best Games i ever played. Thank`s to everyone who was involved in creating this Masterpiece.
You can tell these devs are truly passionate with their game and the community, its a shame nowadays most games are rushed and dont get the treatment they deserve unlike what these devs have put into their well crafted sandbox.

Funny fact, my wife never wanted to try anything but Skyrim.. She plays it for years, but when she saw me playing The Long Dark, she liked it out of my other many games I played. So She tried it, and now whenever I'm working nigh-shifts she sends me screenshots of her progress ;-) Well done Hinterland, the game is amazing, almost as realistic as life(though not all is real or logical) but you did it nicely, and off course atmospheric ! P.S. the music is awesome and addictive ...
I think you should make more dynamic maps in Sandbox. Like if you press button in "X" location while electricity is on you can activate a bridge in "Y" location.

WOW! I am so excited! There are so many things to do now. I love the ammo crafting idea. It seems hard and really something for the long-term, but I think it's perfect. Excellent job! Also, the graphics look really cool in this video
I haven't played this game very seriously in about 3 years. I stumbled upon this update today and oml i think i just might spend my entire winter break getting back into it. The ammunition crafting system looks particularly interesting, and the game looks ten times more beautiful than i remember.

Предполагали и сани и смену времён года... А получается вот как))) в следующих обновах хотелось бы увидеть новые предметы, тот же элементарный термос, бинокль или ремень с ножнами или кобурой например... Хотелось бы возвращения если и не старой системы порчи вещей ( пока не прикоснулся, не портится ), то хотя бы что-то вроде ( первое посещение локации - старт порчи ), потому что в нынешней ситуации невозможно вдумчиво изучать локации, оббегаешь быстро все все пока еда везде не испортилась, потом сидишь на месте и охотишься, потому что что б куда то пойти нужно брать с собой тонну мяса и смысл похода пропадает из-за полного рюкзака в самом начале похода))). Помню обещали новых зверей. Насколько понимаю лесные волки это они и есть. Может дальше увижу например рысь или хотя бы куропаток))) спасибо, успехов и побольше сил.

I knew there would be something to do with the very visible car batteries and the fact that you can open the car hoods. I just never guess it would be ammo crafting. Brilliant, can't wait to try this stuff out!

Thanks for the update Hinterland! I really enjoyed the changes to the story mode. One thing that would add to the accomplishment of completing a challenge would be a short skit at the end.

I bought TLD on Early Access almost 3 years ago, and Hinterland is still doing such good work with an already great game that you could have polished up and shipped. Constantly adding/fixing/changing your game without breaking the bank of your fans is a virtue many other companies could learn from in this era of micro transactions and shipping sub-par products while crunching their employees to the point of exhaustion. So nice to see the crafting system expand! Very glad to finally put those car batteries to use. Been noticing them and guessing what their use would be for quite a while.
Its been years and this games still the best survival game of all time. Glad they are still expanding survival. No matter how many times I go back to this game its still just as fun and suspenseful. Very rarely can a game do that.
I've to say that I have been away from this game for a while, but I lived in the BC mountains all summer so to come back and play this game is extremely fun!

Just gonna say it now. Hinterland. Thank you. The Long Dark is one of my favourite games of all time, fighting my nr 1 God of War (2018)
Its one of few games were I really wanna be THERE. Its beautiful and calming and I can dive into it whenever I want. I love the aesthetic, the landscapes, the music. Its my light in darkest times.

Hinterland is an amazing team complete with their dedication to this beautiful game. From the art style to the musical score to their attention to detail and continued passion to progress the game, it’s one of my all time favorites. Very few games retain my attention like The Long Dark has and even after I’ve played less, I can return after a semester of school back to where I left off, and with an update. Keep up the amazing work and impeccable detail, Hinterland studios.

This Awesome game saved my Christmas Holidays in 2020.
Under Lockdown and being alone was really hard but this game got me off guard.
I did not expect much at first but it was a Blast.

You can tell these devs are truly passionate with their game and the community, its a shame nowadays most games are rushed and dont get the treatment they deserve unlike what these devs have put into their well crafted sandbox.
Looks like the timberwolf model was changed a little, they look more intimidating now imo. Nice work as always Hinterland!! Can't wait to try everything out!

Funny fact, my wife never wanted to try anything but Skyrim..
She plays it for years, but when she saw me playing The Long Dark, she liked it out of my other many games I played.
So She tried it, and now whenever I'm working nigh-shifts she sends me screenshots of her progress ;-)
Well done Hinterland, the game is amazing, almost as realistic as life(though not all is real or logical) but you did it nicely, and off course atmospheric !

I think you should make more dynamic maps in Sandbox. Like if you press button in "X" location while electricity is on you can activate a bridge in "Y" location.

I haven't played this game very seriously in about 3 years. I stumbled upon this update today and oml i think i just might spend my entire winter break getting back into it. The ammunition crafting system looks particularly interesting, and the game looks ten times more beautiful than i remember.

Спасибо за обновление. Играл когда-то очень давно в самую раннюю версию, сейчас вернулся и игра явно развивается. Помню как тогда все гадали, что же будет в дальнейшем. Предполагали и сани и смену времён года... А получается вот как))) в следующих обновах хотелось бы увидеть новые предметы, тот же элементарный термос, бинокль или ремень с ножнами или кобурой например... Хотелось бы возвращения если и не старой системы порчи вещей ( пока не прикоснулся, не портится ), то хотя бы что-то вроде ( первое посещение локации - старт порчи ), потому что в нынешней ситуации невозможно вдумчиво изучать локации, оббегаешь быстро все все пока еда везде не испортилась, потом сидишь на месте и охотишься, потому что что б куда то пойти нужно брать с собой тонну мяса и смысл похода пропадает из-за полного рюкзака в самом начале похода))). Помню обещали новых зверей. Насколько понимаю лесные волки это они и есть. Может дальше увижу например рысь или хотя бы куропаток))) спасибо, успехов и побольше сил.

this game is super great guys. I played it a few years ago I think... sorta forgot about it. just went through the story mode a week ago. so good. so excited to jump into this survival mode now more!! we all really appreciate your continuous work on this glorious gem!

I knew there would be something to do with the very visible car batteries and the fact that you can open the car hoods. I just never guess it would be ammo crafting.

Thanks for the update Hinterland! I really enjoyed the changes to the story mode. One thing that would add to the accomplishment of completing a challenge would be a short skit at the end.
You guys are so good to us! Thank you for all your tireless work and constant improvements to this great gaming experience. I bought TLD on Early Access almost 3 years ago, and Hinterland is still doing such good work with an already great game that you could have polished up and shipped. Constantly adding/fixing/changing your game without breaking the bank of your fans is a virtue many other companies could learn from in this era of micro transactions and shipping sub-par products while crunching their employees to the point of exhaustion. Hinterland has quickly become my favorite game developer, thank you guys for all your great work and I can’t wait to see what comes from you guys in the future. 🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️

Its been years and this games still the best survival game of all time. Glad they are still expanding survival. No matter how many times I go back to this game its still just as fun and suspenseful. Very rarely can a game do that.
I've to say that I have been away from this game for a while, but I lived in the BC mountains all summer so to come back and play this game is extremely fun!
