Iron Lion The game is designed for pc so thats the ideal thing to play it on, however my friend has it on ps4 and it runs fine so its most likely an issue with your ps4 or tv or something like that instead of the game itself. I don't personally have a ps4 so i can't help you much but i dont think its the game

Although moose is a cool cat, I'm most optimistic about custom experience modes. Finally, I can play Long Dark, where my main enemies are horrible weather and scarse resources, not some stupid dogs.
Indrek Pärli I agree! I like it when I have to be worried about cold and resources. Higher difficulties are good for this, but then I have to deal with the wolves, which I find a nuisance. But pilgrim is way too easy. I’d only enjoy the game half as much without custom mode.

Perfection! Every addition mentioned only serves to make a great game even greater. I'm especially excited about the difficulty updates for story mode & ability to customize each individual game. Loved story mode, but I always had such an abundance of food & clothing etc. that the challenge I'd come to expect & love from TLD was sincerely missed. And the ability to tweak means my niece can now enjoy playing when she visits without the frustration of dying so soon. Thanks again Hinterland for such a quality gaming experience!
Sadly the Story Mode difficulties don't alter the amount of availiable gear too drastically. I think the reasoning behind this is because story-wise the amount of availiable supplies will begin to diminish over time as other survivors find and take the things availiable to them. So hopefully Episode 3 and 4 will be more enjoyable.
I know I'm going to get flak for this but I'm glad they added the easy and hard modes to winter mute. The difficulty stopped me from wanting to play the story mode because i was NOR very good. Hopefully i will now be a blue to appreciate the level of love that has been put into the game. And obviously this will be good for all the people who thought it was to easy
A had a similar experience as well. I know how to manage recorces and clothes and all that very well but defending against wildlife was something I struggled with. I’m glad that they added this into the game so that more people like myself can fully enjoy wintermute
The difficulty in Milton was 100% dependent on where the wolves spawned. Worst case were 3 wolves in the city and 3 close to the gas station. There is no way of carefully scavenging the town when behind every door and corner there can be a wolf running right into the player. Totally sucked the fun out of my second playthrough.
This is exactly the update that will get me back into the game. The Custom settings mode; I always wanted the sparseness of Interloper with the calmer Voyageur wildlife. Thank you, Hinterland. I never did give up hope, I just had to take a break.

I know and LOVE how immersive this game has become! BUT, while you just added custom games, maybe you could add co-op too. Maybe turn off feats or achievements for that mode, but it would fun to mess around and go on bear hunts with your friends.
Is there going to ever be a non-wolfeatmyfaceoff difficulty, was playing green survivor, got to the first bridge and the wolves still growled. Is this a programmed thing (the first two wolves growling to show the player what they do). Love the new update on aurvival , the aura lights look incredible, especially when next to the moon

Milton in Survival is DEFINITELY a big plus, well done. Now, I hate to be that guy, but a roadmap was mentioned. Does the roadmap include an animation overhaul so that clothes show up on your character model (both from the first person view and in cutscenes?)
+ BrexMK Dont get your hopes up, they are far behind their roadmap. They still havent added stuff back from 2016 into the game. Just look at the moose. They posted a video like a year ago where they showed the model. Now do you really want to tell me that the damn ai took a year to finish. I dont know what they are doing at Hinterland, but they are definitely not fast...
So now we can make three different coats, but we still can't make a hat. Good luck with your interloper frostbite when the last hat in the world gets destroyed by a wolf attack!
Racoons would be a good addition. They could be used to make a hat and when they are startled they run up trees and hide in the branches. It'll be cool if they add that

Great update. I have hundreds of hours on the clock, yet I prefer a peaceful and meditative experience. I prefer the silence and beauty of the world of Bear Island over its danger. Even in not perma-death story mode Wintermute. You made it possible. Now I can enjoy the rest of chapter 2. I can’t thank you enough for putting so much love and work into this game. With every update it improves something, that I really wanted. You are one of my favorite game developers and a great game publisher. Keep your independence. I will support you and your vision, because I want you to continue your great work. Thanks for actually caring for your players (new and veterans). A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to you, the whole Hinterland team. This is one of my favorite games of all time.
The only thing you guys are missing now, honestly, is some kind of craftable hat/scarf and something else like ear muffs for the accessory slot. That aside, I'm pumped to go hunt me some moose:) this game just keeps getting better.

I really love that you guys have been pushing this long, I've been playing the game since it came out on steam. You guys keep up the great work!

Not because “The Long Dark” is “visually stunning”and cool (it is),but more because the idea of the game is based-on is so close to definition of survival. You even show how good the idea is in the visual poem you created,”Elegy”,which is immersive and that is the key thing movies and or films must have to be good. Keep up the good work Hinterland!

I never heard of this game. Got it free on Epic without any expectations and now its one of my favorite games ever! Even bought it on Steam because i felt bad for getting it free lol
My favourite content : - Reduced opacity of nighttime breath effect. YEEEESSS ! It promises wonderful moments looking at the stars at mountainers' hut ! - Moose. Perfectly animated charges. Perfectly. Perfectly. - New affliction and scratches trees. It is welcome and add immersion and induces a well thought behaviour from the moose. - Custom difficulty ! Possibilities of the experience x 10² ! - New clothes. Really nice. But I have a suggestion. A chapka ! I think there is still a lack of craftable clothes for head protection. Like hat or chapka (moose and rabbits skins could be appropriate). - [Wintermute] Fixed missing translated strings for "Lake Gunshots" side mission. Thank you for that !

I remember when I actually knew about The Long Dark was watching a gameplay by Stacy (stacyplays), and that was back in 2015-2016. It got so popular Hinterland even named Stacy’s favorite grape soda after her! I could never forget that, I’m glade they left it in the game. :) But it was how I got to know The Long Dark and as soon as I could I bought it! Great game and I’m looking forward to where this emotional, physically brutal story will take me! Great job Hinterland! Your hard work never goes unnoticed! Sincerely, a very happy customer and fan!

It actually made my eyes wet seeing how much this small studio respects and cares for his work, respects his gamers and their feedback and after 3 years dishes out stunning visuals, great emotional gameplay, and even brand new mechanics that with a simple idea (aurora borealis) change the way you play the game every now and then. I love the new custom survival mode, but while setting up a custom game, I realized that for most things i have no reference point. They have settings of 'none, low, medium, high'. does that mean medium is the default? If so, that's perfectly fine, but I feel having it go 'non, low, medium, default, high' or some combination thereof would give players a reference point as to where each setting sits in reference to a standard game (on Voyager/Stalker as that's about middle difficulty). It just struck me that while looking at "wolf spawn chance" for example, I had no idea weather 'medium' would be too low for my normal playthroughs, or too high. Of course, this is just my experience upon first loading up the new update. Regardless, I absolutely LOVE it, that's the only thing I've found thus far that struck me. Good work overall guys!
You can switch between CUSTOM and the existing Experience Modes in the Toolbox interface, to see how those are set up. This should provide you with the comparison you're looking for.
thank you so much for addressing the carrying capacity issue. Now I can reliably carry my rifle and 2 bearskin coats without fear of being over encumbered from picking up 1 cloth!
here is an idea for a craft able hat: 1. either make a rabbit hat ( I think this one is the best one) 2. add a raccon and make it like pioneer hat (this one I think wouldnt really work and take a lot of time) 3. add the ability to craft an absolutely terrible hat out of cloth an one rabbit pelt Keep up the great work Hinterland your game is truly one of a kind

oh this is great! i wanted the custom mode but i wasnt expecting it to be a thing. at max i was waiting a new mode between interloper and stalker. i love these updates. they improve the gameplay time to time and make your journeys different experiences. hope it continues like this and i wish for you the best hinterland
Absolutely incredible and professional showcase of an update. Although many complained about story difficulty I truly appreciate that the Hinterland team took time to address the concern. I never heard of this game. Got it free on Epic without any expectations and now its one of my favorite games ever! Even bought it on Steam because i felt bad for getting it free lol

That backpack is amazing
It is.
My favourite content :
- Reduced opacity of nighttime breath effect. YEEEESSS ! It promises wonderful moments looking at the stars at mountainers' hut !
- Moose. Perfectly animated charges. Perfectly. Perfectly.
- New affliction and scratches trees. It is welcome and add immersion and induces a well thought behaviour from the moose.
- Custom difficulty ! Possibilities of the experience x 10² !
- New clothes. Really nice. But I have a suggestion. A chapka ! I think there is still a lack of craftable clothes for head protection. Like hat or chapka (moose and rabbits skins could be appropriate).
- [Wintermute] Fixed missing translated strings for "Lake Gunshots" side mission. Thank you for that !

I remember when I actually knew about The Long Dark was watching a gameplay by Stacy (stacyplays), and that was back in 2015-2016. It got so popular Hinterland even named Stacy’s favorite grape soda after her! I could never forget that, I’m glade they left it in the game. :) But it was how I got to know The Long Dark and as soon as I could I bought it! Great game and I’m looking forward to where this emotional, physically brutal story will take me! Great job Hinterland! Your hard work never goes unnoticed!

That's quite the update! Thanks for all the hard work on one of my favorite games.
It actually made my eyes wet seeing how much this small studio respects and cares for his work, respects his gamers and their feedback and after 3 years dishes out stunning visuals, great emotional gameplay, and even brand new mechanics that with a simple idea (aurora borealis) change the way you play the game every now and then. All for the initial purchase.
It really feels good in a time like this in the gaming industry.

I love the new custom survival mode, but while setting up a custom game, I realized that for most things i have no reference point. They have settings of 'none, low, medium, high'. does that mean medium is the default? If so, that's perfectly fine, but I feel having it go 'non, low, medium, default, high' or some combination thereof would give players a reference point as to where each setting sits in reference to a standard game (on Voyager/Stalker as that's about middle difficulty).
It just struck me that while looking at "wolf spawn chance" for example, I had no idea weather 'medium' would be too low for my normal playthroughs, or too high. Of course, this is just my experience upon first loading up the new update.
Regardless, I absolutely LOVE it, that's the only thing I've found thus far that struck me.

You can switch between CUSTOM and the existing Experience Modes in the Toolbox interface, to see how those are set up. This should provide you with the comparison you're looking for.
This game is severely underrated
Do you think they’d add crows as food? For mid game players?
And mabye add a super dense woody region that is home to a cougar ?

here is an idea for a craft able hat:
1. either make a rabbit hat ( I think this one is the best one)
2. add a raccon and make it like pioneer hat (this one I think wouldnt really work and take a lot of time)
3. add the ability to craft an absolutely terrible hat out of cloth an one rabbit pelt

Wow, you guys continue to put out quality content that keeps me coming back to this game. Already having put in a meager 250 hours, I have yet to become bored when these new updates are released. You guys give me hope in early access games when some AAA devs are showing some poor practices nowadays.

oh this is great! i wanted the custom mode but i wasnt expecting it to be a thing. at max i was waiting a new mode between interloper and stalker.
i love these updates. they improve the gameplay time to time and make your journeys different experiences. hope it continues like this and i wish for you the best hinterland
