That place is going to be half-way under water the first close hurricane and storm surge we get. Crazy that someone would build that close and low to the water at that location.
Want to know why homes are so expensive: bureaucracy. It accounts for approximately 40 percent of a homes cost. I am in construction and if they removed this bureaucracy, homes would go up so much faster and cheaper. 75 years ago we didn’t have all this nonsense, homes were built much quicker and cheaper and if you own a home from the 1950s you know they were built better
Chances are the teacher will sell unless she has plenty of cash to pay the income taxes that will be due on her winnings. Most winners of these homes sell when they get the tax bill.
Someone did not do their due diligence prior to building this beautiful home in a location close to ocean, intercostal in an area known for flooding…. 🙏🤔🙉🙈🐵. StAugustine is a BEAUTIFUL Historic City. But the truth is the rising sea level since 2016 Hurricane Matthew has seen flooding with Northeasters, Full Moons and heavy rains. Would have been wonderful for HGTV to set the example by choosing desirable lot that would better deal with rising waters. Build a raised home with building materials to withstand Cat 5 Hurricane and rising water levels.❤️
It's intracoastal not inter there is a very specific difference between the two. Intercoastal would be between the coast whereas intracoastal is within the coast. I live in St Augustine and this is a sticking point for us here from people who don't live here.
@@spacemonkey9257 I apologize. I was trying to bring up important points. I too lived in StAugustine on Marine St between Bridge and StFrancis. 2016 4ft water “redecorated the first floor. Everything lost. Just finished rebuilding 1 year later Imma tried her best the water was only 1 ft. It was 20 glorious years with special memories. Moved away 3 years ago. Miss StAugustine dearly, miss the beautiful home built in 1763. There comes a time in your life with age and health issues it was time to go. St Augustine will always be home. I wish you the best🙏❤️
So the county is chuckling over how it was discovered and otherwise none the wiser. Sell outs to developers Beautiful home should be in a traditional neighborhood NOT plopped in the middle of a marsh surrounded by pristine ecosystem.
$2,000,000+ and build at basically sea level, what is happening here? A general sea surge coupled with a super moon (extra high tide) could flood this. $2,000,000 and you could bring in $100k of fill to raise it's elevation ~8ft? Seriously...
Gut feeling the Marsh is going to reclaim that land that is too close to the water for the next Tropical Storm or Hurricane that is big enough to cause that level of storm surge.
It looks like a nightmare to own and maintain. Unless the owner has plenty of money. Wonder what the cost of a replacement roof will be. And it comes with a very serious potential problem down the road.

Can you imagine the taxes & electric bill for this home…also insurance 😳 yikes!!! No thank you….
There is no more home insurance in Florida anymore.

Most of these winners have to sell the house just to pay the taxes.
What are you talking about? there is, only now it is super expensive. You cannot not have it unless your house is paid off @@vulcan2882
@@TheMonkdadI don’t think ANY winner has not immediately sold it over the decades.

Ten years and that place is under water... why do people insist on building on riverways
maybe two years.
You're dreaming or you've been watching too much MSNBC. The sky is falling the sky is falling!!
Yet all big figures in life like Obama, Bill Gates and such that are aligned with what you're saying keeping buying sea level water front property.
Everyone has flood and wind insurance in Saint Augestine . @@markp.7165

Teacher cannot affoard taxes or insurance on a 2M home in a flood zone...smh
A teacher paying property taxes on a $2 million dollar property?! Good Luck!
There was no story there. As even the man stated “if it wasn’t HGTV”…
And people wonder why insurance is so high
75% of the country has to pay higher insurance rates because the rest insist on living in high-risk areas.
They eventually the permit - after the envelopes stuffed with cash got in the right hands.
If I won that house, I’d be selling it as fast as possible.

A teacher won a home with a $60K annual property tax and insurance bill. Good luck sister. lol
She should rent that house out for vacationers and as soon as housing rates drop, sell it and cash out.
The Dream Home HGTV built in Lake Lure in the late 1990s had no water...
How is the legal? Where i live marshlands are protected and you legally can not build on those said lands

With storm Debbie it’s most likely flooded out.
Hopefully the person that one in the house can afford the astronomical taxes that are going to be attached to it every year
A teacher cannot afford to keep that house. She’ll have to take the cash value instead.
