Thank you, Jon, for pointing out that BAND-MAID, in passing, may sound like a regular rock band but these gals are anything but 'regular.' CORALLIUM is a prime example why they are my favorite combo of talented musicians that includes a genius composer.
SO true, they sound like a nice rock band on the surface but the deeper you ding, the closer you llisten the more they bring. They are outstanding and since finding Band Maid, Nemophila, hanabie and Unlucky Morpheus my whole playlists have been reworked to a basically exclusive to those bands^^ One of my all time fav BM songs...tho sure i have personal not so hot songs but even they are fire in their own right.- They've brought fresh air and joy into my life
S-Tier, Masterwork, Masterpiece, Turbo-Banger, whatever you want to call it, "Corallium" definitely belongs. On Akane: I'm a former drummer and when I found The Maids, I had never heard anyone play like her. Then, I started listening to (and loving) other Japanese/International bands. I have STILL not heard anyone play like her. She's in a class by herself. Thanks John! 🕊
Thank you for the reaction. The biggest reason why this track is very high on the list for me is Kanami's guitar solo. I think this is one of those few times Kanami purposefully makes her solo with as little melody as possible (it feels almost straightforward; I lack a better word to describe it as I'm not musically inclined), so that it can be complemented by the bass and the drum (which you pointed out). That bass during her guitar solo is the most tasteful bass I have heard in my life, specifically because of the music context it was in. So good.
I was going to make the same comment but you said it better than I could have. One of my favorite solo sections because of the interplay between Kanami, Misa and Akane.
Masterpiece. One of my favorite parts is the call and response between Saiki's vocals and Kanami's guitar. I love how Kanami mimics Saiki's vocal melody.
Actually, the solution to this song fragmenting your soul is really simple - listen to the song 6 times (at least), each time concentrating on the different instruments or the vocals. Guess you can listen a few more times after that to see how all these elements combine. At that point, you can proceed to fragment your soul 😉
I await how you react to Matchless Gum and Unfair Game. Talk about flipping your s***, when you hear those 2 you may be saying something about journeying to Mars or Venus.
If you want to hear Akane go crazy during a Kanami solo, then you need to listen to Hate? from the Unleash EP. The recorded version, though their live version is more than exceptional also.
If I had to attempt a genre for this- trying to keep it simple- forgive me. Thrash/Funk/Metal- will that do? It's still probably not enough. I wasn't sure about this 3 track single when it came out, but now I live it- it only took 2 years and I like many genre's of rock music, but it took that long to process in my brain. Genius, genius, genius.
Glad you enjoyed this song as much as I do, but I wish you stop talking loud while the music is going ... it's a pity because I enjoy your analysis when it happens. 😅

Best rock band in the world right now! dbl ♥
Strike the "right now"
Search "bandmaid corallium live at the eggman" for a stunningly well played and recorded live version.
I love how the first thought when the vocals come in "sweet ballad'" before getting a good stomping.
"Rewards careful listening"

Totally felt you here. This also happens to be one of my all time favorite Band Maid tracks. Coincidence? Fuck no.
First Black Hole, then Corallium. Where will they take this idea next? Perhaps we will find out this summer with the new album.
This is fire, for sure! You need to check out "Hibana" from this same ep!
👍Great performance by a great band! 🖖❤

This Three song Mini-EP containing Sense, Hibana and Corallium,, is probably pretty hard to beat even for Band-Maid
I usually think of the vocals as a life raft floating on the sea of music. This time they said "screw that, we are jumping into the sea of music".
Drowning in it, even!
Band-Maid is a master at riffs.
You should check out King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. 25 albums in 10 years.

If you want same complex songs:I'll, Still sick revenge,Why, why, why, HATE highly recommend it from Lollapalooza festival last year,😉
I'll
Check out the live version!

I think this is a great song to showcase everything they can do…..can you imagine if this was the first song you ever heard from them?
I like the live version even better
I love this song !!😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘

That reaction is done and scheduled for 1/27. It's live on the Patreon now, tho ;)
Pulling this song off live shows how amazing this band is.
This is a B side. It's also one of my favorites. Band-Maid doesn't do B sides very well. They're all A sides.

Sorry, my audio was jacked up on this one. The live at Shibuya Eggman reaction I did had better audio. Go check that one out if you haven't!
Yet another shouting narcissist. Band Maid deserve better.
Not cool...
