What a beautiful restaurant? I'm so glad you could give it some coverage Nargie, you are introducing the rest of the world to your cultural treasures. I am really glad I watched this. By the way, your soup looked really good too :) lol but Nargie, I really like the way the manager was so very nice with you and he sat and ate with you aswell so you weren't just a customer but as a Mongolian he made you his special guest, that is amazing! He was kind to explain how to very best enjoy the meal so that all the flavours can be enjoyed in individual ways rather than as a mixture. I really like the way the Chef offered you the meal himself rather than the self service like for the other customers, that was nice respect for you as an important ambassador from USA Nargie and it would have been really bad man if you couldn't eat it all. I'm proud of you!:)

No matter how you cook the mutton, just dip it in that chive sauce, best combination ever. And, about the quality of Mongolian mutton, my goodness, just simply boil it with water, then I can eat it with just salt. I haven't had Mongolian dishes for years, dang it, this video drives me crazy! Past memories are haunting my tongue and tummy! My lord, why there is no Mongolian restaurant around the place where I live! This must be some kind of torture!

I love borsag, my grandma used to make a lot for me😊. When I took my friends from Mongolia to have hotpot, they told me they never had before, which is funny because in Inner Mongolia we take it as a traditional way of cooking. However growing up in Inner Mongolia, I (maybe just me) also never had khorkhog before. Hope there's more communication between the two sides

The restaurant manager mentioned that tradition of this kind of hot pot has to do with Kublai Khan, but he didn't actually tell the story.
So, once, when Kublai Khan was somewhere in battle (presumably somewhere in China), he wanted to eat boiled mutton, but the enemy was advancing and there wouldn't be enough time for him to wait for the huge chunks to be cooked in the normal way. So, the royal chef began to thinly slice the pieces of mutton allowing for them to cook within seconds and Kublai was able to eat and then go to the battle. He won that battle and this hot pot was a part of his victory dinner.
By the Qing Dynasty, this style of hot pot was famous all over northern China and it's now a staple food of Beijing.

I really love the "home made" cooking video clips either outdoors or in Gers, I am not a big fan of the restaurant video clips.
"Little Sheep" does look like and amazing place, but we have many places like that in America, so it is NOTHING exotic or special to me. The "home cooking" video clips in Mongolian Homes or outdoors, takes my imagination to a different world, a world where I would love to visit.

Well, a tour sounds great, or just hanging out in general, but now everyone just wants to go to this restaurant! This is bigger and nicer than any hot pot restaurant I've ever seen (in the US), it's really something! They have a good concept, local ingredients, vast dramatic interior and a view! My normal reaction might be "I can't afford that", but I think I will TRY to. I mean, I make hot pot at home, and we have a lot of ingredients to choose, but probably not as good.
