This is isayamas style guys Ymir never cared about freedom, she wanted king fritz(someone who burnt her home, killed her dad and tore out her tongue) Historia always loved farmer kun(a childhood bully of hers) and never cared for eren (even though she talked about having a child and he said he had only 4 years to live and discussed his plans soley to her) Eren never cared about freedom, he cared about mikasa(someone he never showed affection to until the last moment) Mikasa REALLY meant eren as family to her and cared about jean all this time(someone shes ignored all this time).... Because the truth is he was never "god tier". The ending proves that he valued keeping the readers guessing more than actual storytelling. He introduced contrived plot point after plot point and didn't bother with most of the consequences. His characters really are paper-thin and their inter-relationships even worse. The story is littered with massive coincidences and forced moments, often to good effect, but it always made me doubt just how good he actually was. The ending just exposed him for what he was.

If Isayama had marketed it as a Seinen from the beginning he'd have had no obligation to end it in any way other than what best suited the story. Yes he supposedly caved to popularity (big mistake), and maybe his editors, but he must have known from the outset his editors couldn't allow certain endings for a Shonen manga. He sold out for Shonen money is the bottom line and good writers, let alone great writers, absolutely do not do that, because they know how their story has to end the minute they start writing. I don't care how entertaining a story is, if someone betrays the concept then they're a bad writer. And whichever way you slice it the ending was rushed to hell and a total mess that undermined his plot, left a ton of holes, ruined his characters, and insulted his audience. Even what was great about it is retrospectively shown to be just a bunch of superficial contrivances which he threw in for certain effect and then abandoned, while all his characters were ultimately slaves to a plot that Isayama himself still doesn't seem to know the point of. Also, reducing the entire story to Ymir and her issues, along with Eren and Mikasa's relationship, when there's virtually nothing to either of those aspects of the story, again just proves how poorly written AoT has actually been. It's just that we couldn't know that until the ending exposed it. Woah, that turned out longer than I thought.

Tbh, if this is real and hopefully so, I'll raise my rating to a 7/10 just because of Paradis being destroyed, that's the only realistic take and shows that Eren completing the rumbling or not making the rumbling were just better choices than this BS.
Edit: Might give it even a 8/19 after full context, the "Keep the children out of the forest" and Eren not having to complete it, and actually have consequences really made me appreciate the ending now.

There's no way... No way... How did Isayama go from God tier storytelling to this so quickly? This feels like someone else wrote the ending
Because the truth is he was never "god tier". The ending proves that he valued keeping the readers guessing more than actual storytelling. He introduced contrived plot point after plot point and didn't bother with most of the consequences. His characters really are paper-thin and their inter-relationships even worse. The story is littered with massive coincidences and forced moments, often to good effect, but it always made me doubt just how good he actually was. The ending just exposed him for what he was.

If Isayama had marketed it as a Seinen from the beginning he'd have had no obligation to end it in any way other than what best suited the story. Yes he supposedly caved to popularity (big mistake), and maybe his editors, but he must have known from the outset his editors couldn't allow certain endings for a Shonen manga. He sold out for Shonen money is the bottom line and good writers, let alone great writers, absolutely do not do that, because they know how their story has to end the minute they start writing. I don't care how entertaining a story is, if someone betrays the concept then they're a bad writer.
And whichever way you slice it the ending was rushed to hell and a total mess that undermined his plot, left a ton of holes, ruined his characters, and insulted his audience. Even what was great about it is retrospectively shown to be just a bunch of superficial contrivances which he threw in for certain effect and then abandoned, while all his characters were ultimately slaves to a plot that Isayama himself still doesn't seem to know the point of. Also, reducing the entire story to Ymir and her issues, along with Eren and Mikasa's relationship, when there's virtually nothing to either of those aspects of the story, again just proves how poorly written AoT has actually been. It's just that we couldn't know that until the ending exposed it.
