In this video, I take my first step towards building a 3D printed hexapod by working on the leg design. This is part 1 of what will be an ongoing series where I take you on my journey to build my first walking robot. I'll be drawing heavy inspiration from The Legend of Zelda and other Sci-Fi robots during this build.

keep up the work these people improve society
Thanks for sharing this, I'm building an hexapod from scratch, it helps me a lot
Really nice balance between functionality and cool look on that leg design! Exited to see how the result will turn out
Keep going man! :)
Very exited to see the build process for this one let’s hope it turns out just as good or better than the last project
Very cool. Great design and build work!
I'm with you all the way on the whys of hexapods! Always surprised there are not more about.
this video is incredible! youve inspired me to make a hexapod
awesome video mate!
Good explications ! Great video !
Looks great!
This is awesome, ive been designing a crab robot but havent figured out how im gonna work the legs, and this helped a ton! keep it up, and I cant believe that this video (and your others) dont have more views
Really nice!
Hey man love your content i am immediately subscribed :) keep up the good work
I'd enjoy seeing a mini-hexapod video.
Nice yo, keep it up
Eyy I was righ! :D a hexapod ^^ Looking forward to it, I'll have to postpone watching for 4 more hours
me at 5:15 : "I wonder if he's considered making the tip of the foot a separate piece so he can print it off in another material like TPU and in different shapes."
me at 8:00 : "I love this guy."
Hello, can you please share the complete design of your hexapod
this is amazing! Really keen to start on my own.
quick question, what pushfit bearings are you using on the rear side of the servos??
I'm using 604ZZ bearings!
Really cool project, can't wait for part two. What did you use in this video to power the PCA9685 chip, and what is the plan to power the finish robot?
I used a 5V 4A power supply for the servos and the 5V output from the Arduino to power the chip. I plan on using a LiPo battery with a SBEC to provide the servos with 6V. I talk about it a bit in part 2, which is out now!
@@StewartTechnologies I have been making a 4 legged robot dog and use a lot of of the same ideas. Right now I have it plugged into a 5v 10a charger. It’s probably overkill but it’s what I had. I will watch part two rn.
Love the video. Was wondering, what are you using inside the screw holes? And how did you mount them inside the 3D printed parts?
They're Heat-set inserts that are threaded on the inside. I used my soldering iron with special tip made just for the inserts.
Cool bro, I'll try making it with junk. Because all the parts are very expensive here
yes , miniature version would be the bees knees
i like PhantomX type Hexapods
How about a breath of the wild guardian skin?
can i build this with little blue servos? i have lots of them.
Where can i find the arduino Code
I have the exact servo motor and there is no hole on the backside of the servo motor to connect the bracket, however dynamixel servo's come with two sided connections, tower pro's can only be connected from one side that is only by servo shaft.
I created a holder for the servo and added a small bearing on the other side, making my own connection point.

Hey! Can you please share me the 3d model of leg you designed in CAD?
Hey! Can you please share me the 3d model of leg you desighed in CAD?
Could you please give us the STL files of the 3D design and thank you
Which application do you use for cad is it free or not or how much does it cost for a monthly or yearly subscription by the way your hexa pod looked really cool and i also a build a hexapod so can you please tell how much did it cost you build a hexa pod
Hello sir, can I get the copy of your CAD design?
Question, I've been wondering this for a while, how do you get the 3d model of the servo so you can design with it in cad instead of taking measurements? Or do you just take a lot of measurements?
If they're simple models I design them myself after taking measurements. For more complex things like servos, you can find models online from manufacturers or through sites like GrabCAD.
Can you share your build files??
hi, may ask what 3d printer do you use for your projects?
I use a Prusa MK3S
can you please release your stl file
Could you please give us the STL files of the 3D design
They'll be released to my Github once most of the design is finalized.
Can you provide CAD file and code
