I ran Mason Miller through the development lab. I put him on the strength and conditioning program. His result was outstanding and his injury prone ness went from fragile to normal.
The Development Lab is a really interesting tool. Used well, and with some luck, it can probably do a lot to counteract some parts of challenging contracts.
It's been a welcome addition. I'm still learning how to work it. For example: players who have already reached their potential do t seem to benefit from it unless they get an outstanding result. Likewise, prospects straight out of high school haven't responded well. The most success that I've had so far is with players in the upper minors that are almost MLB ready. Prospects out of college seem to do well too. Work ethic and intelligence definitely play into it too. Adaptability. Is a factor when trying to teach a new position.
I think JRods contract is better in OOTP than in real life because there are no escalators. His team option years can get up to 35M/YR based on MVP voting.
That's a great point, there definitely are simplifications from MLB in several of the more significant contracts in the OOTP 25 world... and J-Rod's flat cost in OOTP for close to a decade is potentially incredibly attractive!
I play 99%+ as GM only, but I do usually check the box to give myself the opportunity to override manager lineups. I probably try to rely on cost-effective platoons a little more than most at a couple of positions, but the success rate is not always as high as I would like!
Ha, you're not lying... I just looked it up, his career SO/BB ratio of 6/1 is ugly. I'm sure in the history of the game there are others similarly as bad, but I can't think of anyone offhand!

Jackson Chourio is best contract i have seen in my test sims.
That's good information, thank you! I have not spent much time simming deep into the future.

Have you considered selling merchandise on your channel. I could see a market for t-shirts and coffee mugs with the phrase "Not Optimal' on them.
Ha, I have never given it a thought, but that would be funny!
😂 This T-Shirt is not optimal but it's fitting
Hi I’d love for a tutorial on team selection. Or do you play GM only?

Mookie Betts aged early in my universe and is batting in the low 200's in 2027 into the 28 season.
Ouch... hope you aren't playing as the Dodgers!
I am...'28 will be interesting. I also have some 'Fragile' guys that don't play enough to pay their way. Outman and Bueller come to mind.
@@Cbryer101 Ohtani is holding up well though? How has he been on the mound? Good luck!
@@oldschoolsports went 8-13 with a 5+ ERA and gave up 2/3 of the 40 HR's he hit as DH. Love your channel, by the way!
@@Cbryer101 Wow... not great! Thank you for watching!!!
Javy Báez never met a pitch he couldn’t swing at. Does he even know walks exist?

I think that Trevor Story is a really bad contract too.
Agreed, that one was not far from making my list either.
