Excellent video, this is an extensive guide into managing finances of a franchise... first thing you should do in any playthrough is to get your finances right. Then you put your dollars into your most important areas. Sometimes it might only take 1-2 seasons to get rid of your bad contracts and overpaid staff etc or it might take 4-5 seasons but once you have your finances right you have the groundwork ready to build a great team. Then using all of the tips and tricks in this video anyone should be able to keep a well managed payroll.
If you Waive/DFA a player making the league minimum/not guaranteed contract and they clear waivers. Does that void the guarantee next year? Can they just sit on a MiLB team with the contract attached?
I have a question, I also would prefer to just be the GM. Is there a way to override the manager if he's doing something very stupid with the roster? I was the GM/Manager for a decade and decided to let go a bit. But my manager is completely ruining my staff. He's turning relievers into starters, starters into relievers. I started with the 1962 Mets, now heading into 1974. So for instance, he's taken 2 stud relief pitchers in the high 70s and changed them to starters. One only has 40 stamina. But he took 2 starters named Carlton and Ryan and moved them to the pen. Do I need to fire him? lol I can't handle stupidity like this. I want to override and just let him manage the darn games.
Well, that stinks. About the only thing you can do- under Manager's Office/Manager Options on the right you need to make yourself in charge of rotations/lineups. Some Head Coaches will not allow some aspects of GM control; to see this it's under their page on the right with colored "radio buttons", Green, Yellow and Red. Yellow will let you make some adjustments, Red will not. For example, the Tigers HC won't let you pick his Hitting Coach, you can fire the Hitting Coach of course, but it generally takes a few days to a week or so for the Head Coach to choose a new one (who could be better, as bad or worse!). Good luck.
Thank you, that was useful. My manager only cares (red) about player strategy but is letting me take control of the staff/lineups if I want. Yellow in a few others that I don't care about. Thanks@@paulwest3905
Ouch, that is brutal and completely unacceptable!!! paulwest3905 had some good suggestions, the only other things I can think of to try would be to ensure that GM-only users are always in control of lineups and hiring is checked in the bottom left of your Global Settings, and then I would go into your strategy settings for Carlton and Ryan on their individual pages and force them into Starter roles... but depending the red/yellow/green settings of your manager that paulwest noted could be causing the problems... good luck and thanks for watching!
What exactly would be player strategy? I see it as an option for me for minor leaguers too and I never bother with them. Is this in game strategy?@@paulwest3905
I had another question as I watch your Buffalo Wings series.....only in episode 23. But, I noticed in your organization area that instead of a view of 4, you have 9 items open! How do you do that? I thought I saw a button for screen views in your game that I do not see on my game.
I do see screen set up on the home page but not on the organization page. That is where I'd like to see all my minor league teams as well as DFA/Waivers/ect
@@PNFLnetwork Hmmm... when I am on that page I have a screen setup button in the upper right and just click the the dropdown there to change it... not sure how to get that button to show up if you are not seeing it, though... when I go to File, then Settings, I have Window Size Maximized, Default Font, and Automatic Font Size... maybe if you have changed one of those somehow the button got lost? Good luck!
That's frustrating. I do not have that button on my screen. It's like my version is different. If the button is being hidden to the right, not sure how to get it back. Oh well.@@oldschoolsports
