Well, well, well, Philipp. Your East European (hopefully Polish) genes would be responsible for your resourcefulness, domestic skills and your chivalry. That’s for sure 😘
The cooking content is great because of your commentary, your sense of humor that you both have and play off each other so well, it is an endearing quality that makes your videos fun to watch.
You could just do a segment where you read the instruction manual to the lawnmower at us and I'd be well entertained by the dry humor, situational comedy and self-deprecation.
Phillip being a filmmaker means these wonderful and creative shots. It also makes me imagine the behind the scenes of him running out of dinner to set up a camera in the yard to get a window view of the happy family or trying to lawn mow while monitoring a drone 😂
Don't even know how I ended in a Chateau renovation channel but now every week I come to check in on Phillip and Anna's family...like oh the family is healthy and fine, admire that the garden & the compound is progressing and looks great also the extended family like Benoit and Nathan is also healthy.
OMG! I'm hungarian and this gulas (we spell it gulyás) looks so good in deed! I'm an old and very big fan of you guys and your videos! Thank you so much for showing some Central Europian culture to the world. Big hug
"If you say what we want to hear...we will listen to you..." LOVE IT! Keep cooking! I loved watching Anna gather nuts as well...and the Church Bells in the background.
Are you kidding?! With a kitchen like that and a masterful chef such as yourself...YES! More cooking! A genius, such as yourself, Phillip, must also invent smell-a-vision to share such culinary perfection.
Cooking is lovely but there’s nothing better than seeing how you renovate, decorate and manage the grounds of your chateau! No matter the content, I look forward to Sunday afternoons when your videos air in the States.
Well said! I especially like the historic aspects of the renovations. I'm a big fan of Time Team. Learning about the history of the chateau is fascinating to me. On the other hand, I will always watch someone cook, esp if it comes from a cuisine I am not familiar with.
Your videos are a treat to watch! Renovation, gardening, banter with Benoit and Nathan, family life, Ziggy and now cooking. Truly grateful to have stumbled across this channel about a year ago. Always rooting for y’all and your lovely ideas.
As somebody who grew up in Balkans, I understand Ella's comment about the sauce 😂 and the famous sentence 'you can't say that you don't like it until you tried it' 😂😂😂 Well done, guys!
As someone who's 100% Balkans but grew up 100% in Melbourne Australia, I can attest to Philips humour being 100% relatable 🤭😌. The Balkans is a mega region, area, landmass. I wonder which Balkans people he's DNA is derived from.
Yes to the cooking. It's always interesting to see how other families...and cultures..cook. My dad grew up eating traditional French ( cdn since 1645..originally from Belgium ) meals and married my mum who was English and Scottish ( and who couldn't cook to save her life). I find home cooked meals so much more authentic than a restaurant meal. Your goulash looked yummy. Lucky daughters to have a great example of how to cook delicious and healthy meals.
Your kitchen is absolutely stunning! It's so satisfying to watch you cooking and eating as a family there after all the hard work you both put into renovating it. With such a beautiful backdrop I could watch you cook anytime.
these videos are such a beautiful expression of your family’s existence in this life… and a beautiful moving picture album for you guys for years from now… call me crazy but this video in particular… for just every moment of phillips dinner makes me imagine that the girls may rewatch this one as grown adults even after you two are gone. these videos are a capsule of your souls and i think thats awesome
Yes, I love to see what you are cooking!! Especially since I'm from the U.S., I love to see the ingredients and dishes you enjoy. I especially enjoyed following your kitchen remodel, so I like to see you use it!
I’m generally not very interested in cooking content, but your channel has so much range that I don’t think I’d mind. And I could study those tiles all day.
I like the cooking content. Especially since you are such a good cook Philip! And as an American, I love seeing what you make. My husband is Hungarian and Slovakian so I’ll need to try that recipe! Noticed you bought Ziggy an orange bed - got some of your color into the kitchen after all😊
my gran recipe would be boil potatoes with meat and eat it with bread :) greetings from slovakia and good luck with gulyás/guláš, whatever recipe you try
Yes please more cooking videos from Phillip and also please some baking videos from Anna! It gives us opportunity to see this beautiful kitchen in action, and that art piece of a range cooker! Plus all the comedic commentary from Phillip! Maybe a kitchen tour of the pantries, what you keep stoked, some local Normandy or French items you can't live without, love the more day to day family life content
I absolutely love the cooking content. Love how Philipp has his orange filtered into the kitchen with Ziggy and his bed! Just perfect and very subtle. You were spot on with what Lily and Ella’s reaction would be with the goulash. Glad to see other fussy eaters, not just mine. So excited when I see a new video notification. 🤗
I do like the cooking content! And the Ziggy content! And the gardening... In other words, I think the variety of subjects you cover make a really interesting vlog :)
To think that mealtime is replicated in thousands of homes throughout the world daily 😂 I do not miss cooking delicious meals for tiny palettes that cannot appreciate my genius culinary skills. As usual wonderful, heart warming and chuckle worthy piece of Chateuax life. Hugs from Aotearoa
The scene of Anna walking around with her basket full of walnuts is so serene, and the one on the land mower is hilarious. The shot at the end from the outside through the window is a beautiful capture. Well done! Cooking content sounds good and now I wonder, since I am half South Tirolean as well, whether I have some Balkan blood in me. Will need to get me one of those kits :)
The kitchen looks so cozy and seeing you cook and have dinner together was lovely. I know you must feel so proud of all your hard work to have your dream kitchen. Anna, the tiles look perfect!
I believe the cooking tutorial part of the blog is always fun. The kitchen is so beautiful, so anytime you are cooking we get to enjoy the room again. Ziggy is such a charmer. love watching you guys
Hi there Anna and Philippe. I have just had dinner with some friends back from dream holiday in France and I was thrilled to hear that they actually stayed with you! They patted Ziggy! Omg!
As a certified British Roast Beef, I had no idea that the French could cook. I did enjoy the balance of cooking, dry humour and sending the good lady to forage, you have a delicate balance in play and who are we to upset it !
The cooking is awesome, I like how it's a small and condensed portion of the video. It's quick and funny, the renovations and upkeep of the chateau is still the bread of the content.
In Hungary we call it beef stew, gulyás is a soup with meet and different vegetables (carrot, white carrot, celery, potato or white bean) and small pearl shape pasta. However, this dish looks very delicious, I could eat it now. 😊
Love all the content especially Ella's reaction. My youngest was the world's pickiest eater until he began working in a restaurant, during high school. Now he is a very adventurous eater. It does get better mom and dad.
Wow. Imagine cooking in such a beautiful (and tidy!) kitchen. I like to hear what you're cooking, but I'm a fan of cooking. Also, compliments on your editing and shooting. I liked how you split the DNA commercial (with regular footage in between), and I also liked the shot at the end from the outside of the house to close the episode.
Great vlog. Thank you. I love watching you cook, Phillip. I never get tired of looking at your gorgeous kitchen. Your pot looked a little small and it made me wonder where are your lovely copper pots and pans? Your ancestor analysis made me laugh out loud! Have a good week.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE more cooking shows in your amazing French Kitchen that is just a treat to see, but even better to learn your culinary secrets !!
Absolutely love watching cooking with you as you make it fun, interesting and totally confusing using French a German terminology when we can’t speak either 😂
Love the julienned carrots caramelized onions and presentation with fresh garnishings from the garden. Presentation is as important as a tasty dish and becomes a beautiful meal together as a family.
Your videos are really lovely. Todays cooking goulash - ín the company of a hungarian vizsla - is really heartwarming for me as a hungarian. 😊 (Even though that we cook goulash a bit other way but it looked delicious and authentic. Congrats!)
Yes, I love the cooking content! It is "behind the scenes" of running the inn, but also your everyday lives. Plus we get to see more of that gorgeous kitchen and Ilve range!
I must say, by far this has been the most entertaining video to date, you actually brought me to tears, I was laughing so hard!, once the renovation is complete, you would eliminate everyone in the cooking field with your own show!, so yes, please continue with your cooking segments!, Awesome!, Thankyou!, On a side note, like many people, its been an incredibly rough couple of years, Thankyou!, Thankyou!, Thankyou! for your humor, your true love of each other and family, and a complete fun experience, Thankyou!
Keep cooking please. I’m 75 and a retired chief and I miss cooking for parties and large family holiday dinners. TFS love your channel. Many blessings 🙏and much love from California🌴🌞👍🏻
I definitely love to see you cooking more frequently Phillipp! It’s nice inspiration, and I can see you are really good at it (as a true Italian👨🏽🍳!) And don’t be demotivated by the girls if they don’t ‘like’ the food, they will definitely realize and value how well your meals are once they get older, leave the house and have to cook for themselves (at least, this is my own experience😉)
I’ve seen a wire ball attached to a stick (called a garden weasel) you can roll over the nuts to pick them up. Would make your job a lot quicker. The girls would enjoy it too❤
I love cooking content. So interesting to see the types of dishes people in other countries enjoy. Helps me to expand what i try. My mother made “ghoulash” built it was hamburger and noodles, not anything as wonderful as you made!
It's amazing how much Normandy France looks like Portland Oregon USA. We're coastal here too! Beautiful picturesque Chateau. You're an amazing awesome couple!
Philipp, cooking content! Absolutely! You inspired me, will make Gulasch in the upcoming days…a bit hotter though….Ella ended up eating it….I like how you educate your children! Make them try, so that they realized for themselves what is good…! The kitchen looks SOOOO nice! Just a dream!
Love your channel! My husband Robert loves to see the cooking "segments" because it gives him ideas in the kitchen. Yes, please. Keep it up. One day we'll get out there to meet you guys. Yours is the only Patreon we do. We appreciate all you two do.
Thank you for a brilliant episode! Loved to see your recipe and sorry to admit that its comforting to know I’m not the only parent whose kids don’t always like what I cook! You guys are the best!
Cooking content is always great, especially when the recipes have some relationship with the cook’s heritage, like a family recipe that reminds of some fun moments, or to any special events. That would be cool! Congrats for the channel!
Definitely more cooking content! And please keep up the multilingual commentary as well, it's very entertaining and I actually learn things from it. :D
I love seeing the everyday day stuff whether it’s renovations, gardening, French lessons with Nathan, or cooking. Nice to see you enjoying your new kitchen. It’s beautiful 🤩 Thanks for sharing 😍😘
This was a wonderful video, so funny and I loved the cooking of the goulash. The spices are unknown to me as American, or at least the names are so different, I don’t recognize. Phillip, you are an accomplished cook. The presentation is always lovely. We raised 6 children, so the dinner hour rejection of something new was spot on!! I really had to laugh at the little one as mom was loving hers. The walnuts are like picking up money off the ground. They have become so expensive. How wonderful to have the trees. Here, in the Fall, I make my grandmother’s recipe for oatmeal cookies with walnuts. Loved this video!!❤️❤️
I absolutely love cooking content in your videos! I love seeing all the different elements of chateau life, which obviously includes cooking in your gorgeous new kitchen! Definitely would love to see more!!

Folks, you might be aware but I think these are still illegal in France and fines are quite hefty for using them. Great video as always
I did the my heritage DNA test last week now it’s the waiting game😹😹

Yes please to sharing 👩🏽🍳
You could just do a segment where you read the instruction manual to the lawnmower at us and I'd be well entertained by the dry humor, situational comedy and self-deprecation.
I wholeheartedly agree, but do prefer the renovation segments. Can’t wait for you to start on the historical outbuildings!!!!
I think the cooking lesson works very well
Phillip being a filmmaker means these wonderful and creative shots. It also makes me imagine the behind the scenes of him running out of dinner to set up a camera in the yard to get a window view of the happy family or trying to lawn mow while monitoring a drone 😂

Yes, me too! You said it well! They are a real family doing what I like to think I would do, if I were in their place!
Totally agree. I love his dry wit.
Ditto😊
Same! And I tried watching other renovations accounts in youtube, I don't enjoy them as I enjoy in this channel
I love how the garnished cooking was not just about the cooking, but real family life. And your humor.
