Why Do We Close Certain Lifts?

- Occasionally we have to close a lift, sometimes even multiple lifts. Most often it is due to weather conditions, usually extremely windy conditions. This was one of those days. The was also Alex's last day on our Ski Patrol as she is moving to Maui to work as a Park Ranger out there. This was also Pirate Day, strange but true.
Another great day at Brian Head. Appreciated the mandatory Robert sighting. 👍
Haaah! Excellent, he wasn't feeling super great that day poor guy.

Well Hi Mark! Thanks for the kind words, I love that mountain (usually) and the job I get to do, best profession in the world for me. I hope you are doing well. Been skiing much?
Upper Engens / Lower Powder Run most of today. Hurricane wind drifts with some sheet ice surprises.
The rides on Roulette were bet your life. I wish they had a safety bar on that thing - Mark
@@markallen1343 Yeah, Roulette is a scary one for sure. It's always exciting when you find an suddenly find an ice sheet! Glad you had a good day otherwise.
Interesting that you have an ambulance pre parked at ski patrol!
It is really just more of a transport for us at this point in time, think of it as a very ambulance-like van. I am not sure what the plans are for it.

I have no preconceived notions of that, there will never be anything named after me. I appreciate the guys that pioneered the Brian Head area.
Outskirts was about the only area I didn't hit. Yard Sale was the furthest over I made it. Did I miss anything?
Allen are you skiing or snowboarding? If you are skiing, I'd say Outskirts is worth a slide/scoot. I wouldn't bother with a snowboard unless you just want to take a walk and enjoy the beauty of that area. You really do get to see some beautiful terrain, I'd do it at least once, it's worth a little effort.
How far does that cat track take you up towards the peak? I’m wondering and wanting to ski one of those chutes
That sign in the video is as close as the cat track takes you. The hike up to the peak begins at that point, there are a couple different routes choices you can choose from from there. There are probably a few good videos that lay out those routes. Let me know if you have any other questions. I appreciate you watching.
@@ridingdeep8530 how long is the hike
@@gageedmondsonski24 Not very long, it's just steep and you'll be post-holing quite a bit. It's probably not even a mile to get to the chutes but it is definitely some work.
