This is the same PFL that banned elbow strikes and made Jake Paul "Head of Fighter Advocacy" . When you look at their whole league/playoff's system and listen to how they are going to structure their product going forward it becomes abundantly clear that they fundamentally do not understand mma or how to attract mma fans to their product.

I watch a lot of pfl and bellator fights but neither are the promotional juggernaut the UFC is. Bellator has a lot of great fighters but they don't put the butts in seats comparatively and that's due to the promotional side of things. Not the talent or depth. They build up characters like sean o'malley and izzy and fill espn and other things with ad space so casuals can relate or connect. That's the biggest difference to me. What they need to start with big blockbuster fights to drum up interest then keep it going if they want to co lead.
I agree with everything you said. Biggest concern was the fact that their CEO said co-lead. He doesn’t want to be the champ. He just wants a seat at the table. Once he stated co-lead it told me that he doesn’t believe that they could lead one day.
Either look over confident and say we can take over UFC or be reality based with fact of huge losses annually for both companies and realize 2 losers grouped together is a larger loser but a gainer in the mma space when they turn it around.

Guys, it’s called “Merger” not “Merging”.
The PFl Champs have little to no chance against the top contenders of Bellator, let alone the champions.
To offset the impending rout, they should match their remaining top contenders against the babied/groomed Bellator fighters, who of course have win streaks/good starting records: Cieran Clarke, Sullivan Cauley, Roman Faraldo, Davion Franklin, etc.

They already do that. Making even bigger cards only washes out other cards.
They reall can't put on better cards. They have so many fighters and are on the hook for a high number of events. The are spread very thin.
To get more fans you’ve got to make the fights free and easy to watch. I never once considered buying paramount plus or showtime just to watch a bellator event. No other organization will survive being behind a pay wall all and the ufc putting on fight nights and contender series with espn+. If you’re going to be behind the paywall of any app it needs to be espn + or you’re not going to make it.
Who the fuck had eblen beat to be ranked #1 at 185? Strickland dominated Izzy who has lapped his division in the ufc. Eblen don’t fight enough a year to rank higher than Strickland. #10 is more logical than #1

i get you guys don’t like Eblen so low in MMA rankings but he doesn’t even have that many fights yet and the most impressive guy he’s beaten is a past his prime Gegard. and struggled in his last fight.

PFLator needs to worry about getting their org/promotion running smoothly & profitably for the 1st time before they concern themselves with the UFC. It's like when Rosas was saying he can beat Aljo the champ at the time & all the top BWs before he was humbled by Rodriguez. Focus on more immediate challenges.

Some of the things PFL is doing with the merger is good some bad. BUT the main thing for me is if it isn’t on ESPN+ then I’m not watching. I used to watch it ALL but dammit I’m tired of paying for different platforms to TRULY follow the sport. I watch the big fights in Bellator if I can find them on you tube but I’m not paying for multiple platforms. The UFC I get to watch EVERY week (for the most part) and I pay $80 a month for the PPV. PFL/Bellator on ESPN+ or no watch for me.

Do they have enough fighters to do 1 show a week? Wednesday night 52 fights and 1 turnment per month. Joshes marketing plan was best,. I never watched the PFL. Dont understand it, but turnaments are good. They were better when the sport was not as developed as it is today. People know what they want to see. Sometimes the tournaments loose the best fighers.

The PFL and Bellator need to rebrand as one. Both products are not good and the PFL is pretty much unwatchable. If I'm a top guy at Bellator I'm trying to get out of my contract and sign with the UFC. Dana has absolutely nothing to worry about if the PFL continues with the same confusing, unnecessary format. Also, the main thing these other organizations who want to compete with the UFC don't seem to get is the UFC is in the entertainment business first, they sell celebrities and drama. Most UFC "fans" are drama addicted, keyboard warriors who need their daily gossip fix. The actual fights are secondary. The PFL has gotta tackle that to crossover into the mainstream.
I fully agree with you. Also the UFC branded themselves so good that they can lose superstars and keep going and find more. Most casuals think people “train UFC” not mma. lol. Also other organizations spent a bunch of money on fighters right away without building their brand and went bankrupt, example Affliction. Paid the fighters a ton of money and went under quickly.

What exactly did PFL buy? from the interview with Dann Davis on the Ariel Helwani show PFL did not pay a single sent and Paramount bought share of PFL and ad Ariel sugar coated are now minority owners. Chael Sonnen said that this is different than UFC acquiring Strikeforce. I think PFL does not have the right to the trademark name Bellator. What PFL has is that it can boaster their roster and now have elite fighters to make mega fights and compete with UFC.
What did I just read? They sold Bellator to the PFL for shares instead of cash. PFL didn't have to use cash at all and yes they own the Bellator name, which they should throw out anyways.

Imagine if pfl card was 5 dollars maybe then they would of done something big then the ufc fans would say oh look I can get similar content for way less price that would of done good for pfl but with the 50 $ price tag it’s gonna do horrible. I was at bellator 301, and it was amazing. I saw big John doing his thing in the ring. You towered over everyone else in that cage. I wish we had more mma events in Chicago.
It's for the best. Neither organization was going to grow. The UFC has too many fighters under lock and key. My only disappointment here is the they are reportedly keeping the name "Bellator" which is a terrible mistake. Just such an awful name that should have been dropped years ago.

PFL has a unique potential that many people don't realize yet. This unique potential comes from the fact that they have Cedric Doumbe (Still very green in MMA). That man has the chance to really bring a lot of eyes and interest to PFL (PSG was at PFL Europe), not to mention all the amazing talent they have and just acquired with Bellator. They can dominate certain areas of the EU market and Cedric can be a global star if he keeps winning against greater opponents. I recommend that if you haven't watched Cedric Doumbe's first PFL Europe fight check it out, watch the whole walk out and face to face before beautiful KO
