As a Black American I wholeheartedly agree with what you both said. I don’t even see how people are finding fault at him and his wife for giving the 2 kids a good life. People are always gonna find a way to hate smh
Color should not matter, only the love for children should matter and providing for them.
If he loves his sons all you need is that
but why did he need 2 black sons? its super weird. yall can act like its not, its cope
@@mmacult5336sounds like the only one coping is you buddy
@@mmacult5336ok mma guru shill
@@mmacult5336 you don't understand. He didn't seek out to have a black son. He was chosen by the real mother. And then he adopted another child. He wanted that child to be the same color also. You don't understand as a kid how alienating it feels to be surrounded by only white people, in a white neighborhood and going to a predominantly white school. Sure some people are nice and genuine but their are mean people too. It will be mentally healthy for his children to be able to support and relate to each other when those situations occur. Anyone saying Michael is weird is just racist.
Anyone who didn't grow up with a dad in the house knows. I'm 36 and value my family so much.
I agree with Josh and John completely with this. And myself, being Black with a bi racial 10 year old daughter, it disgusts me people have the audacity to say anything negative about Michael Chandler and his wife for how they are loving and raising their children. They are giving them a loving home. They love their sons. John said it perfectly. The comments being made about them is the problem with society nowadays. I love every episode of this podcast. But honestly, i think this is my favorite episode they have ever put out. Thank you for setting things straight. This type of nonsense, and ignorance infuriates me. Phenomenal episode as always my brothas! ❤👍🏽
Beautifully said sir
dude he specifically wanted only Black son & prayed for his adopted son to be of a specific "skin color" . That is what the problem is. So he made a decision to adopt purley based on the skin color . Imagine doing that for white race & praying for adopted skin for "white skin" I'm pretty sure you would crucify him upside down
What are you going to say to you children if they come home from school and tell you about bullying? Or what happens if they get stopped by police? I’m gonna be honest, if you don’t recognize these issues your kids are gonna have some rude awakening. Speaking as a bi-racial person myself. My black mother did do a good job at preparing me for these moments. My white father still struggles realizing his baby grew up and is a black man in America now. I hope chandler can prepare his so sons for that, I think he can but his message could of been written a little better 😂
Most people don’t see it as race thing anymore or skin color a fools a fool but you have whole race still teaching kids victim mentality victim mentality in general so any poc has something to hang there hat on . Stop that crap no one cares about people’s skin color only the quality of the person
@@oxmor my kids identity and my family is in Christ 1st. My kids get it without us having to go over it so weirdly. Nature knows no color line. My oldest who is 15, now we have alot different conversations then I do with my younger ones but yes the "world" will have their view but in one generation of my wife and i having a big family, and all the males not having any kids in my family, my whole family name and DNA and genetic line now is grafted together with my wife which means my so called "white" family line ends and a new chapter begins. I hope and pray for a bright future for us all who sees and loves people like God told us to... 👑 🥊 📻
As an adopted person this hits close
Why didn’t your real parents want u
@AUSSIEBLOKE76 as an adopted child now 48 that's an ignorant question as many adopted kids don't know and will never know. Me personally I don't care why as I ended up with great parents. Any man can make a kid but it's special to be a Dad, you obviously never had a Dad to raise you with manners and teach you how to be a man. I pity you
Same here
We are in a vicious culture war. EVERYTHING is made to be controversial, whether or not it should be. What Chandler is doing is perfectly fine. I think his problem is that he is so publicly outspoken and detailed about his thoughts about it, without being able to parse every word and syllable so that no one is offended or takes issue with his decision. Put yourself out there and open yourself up to severe criticism. We see this all the time. Every minute of every day.
I agree with you both.
To Josh , my respect for you has skyrocketed , having personal animosity towards Michael and still unequivocally calling this matter in a morally correct way ... That's man stuff bro. Thanks for the integrity you displayed.
I completely agree.They are great people.👍🏽
Before jumping on the bandwagon while comfortably sitting at home, people need to ask themselves if they really think that those kids would have been better off growing up in the foster care system? Will an upbringing under the foster care system have catered to these considerations (such as race, etc) that people are complaining about in relation to the Chandler home? These boys are getting more than they would have had in foster homes, they'll worry about the issues that come with race when the time comes but rn they can just be kids, happy at home.
I am a 58 year old man raising to teenage daughters that came from a bad situation. Through the grace of God I have the opportunity to make a difference in there lives Micheal Chandler should be applauded so should you for standing up for him on your show John and Josh you are studs in my book mad respect
Phenomenal comment. I completely agree. They are great people. They showed what they believe in.love those guys.👍🏽
I’m not a Chandler fan but people hatin on him for that is pretty ridiculous. A great man who didn’t make me still stepped up to be the best dad I could’ve asked for. No reason that he can’t do the same.
Welcome to identity politics gentlemen. Where not making sense is, in fact, the point.
As a 40 year old who is brown and was adopted at birth by parents who look the the Foremens from that 70s show with two mixed kids myself, fuck your feelings, kids need love and dads.

Ur adopted parents were white?
@@meatrocket6979 correct, and I mean real white, they looked like the parents from That 70's Show. Taught me my native American roots, and showed love, disciple and a great outlook on life and work. They were the shit and love my two mixed kiddos just as much
@@codypeterson7058 so u turned out alright so maybe if chandler is a good parent those kids will do fine
There's nothing wrong with Chandler raising a black child. It's also not weird to want his son to have another brother with the same skin color. I don't disagree with Chandler statement about wanting to raise them as men first but as they get older the racial issues will have to be acknowledge because in the real world they will be treated differently and I trust that Chandler will have that conversation at the appropriate time. For now they are just kids and love and nurture is the most important thing they need.
The entire 2nd part of your comment is delusional nonsense 😂 you are a parrot who watches too much TV. Minorities get nothing but special treatment in our society, ESPECIALLY bl@ck people
Good job fellas, proper response.
People take everything out of context. Michael Chandler have provided a home and love to those two children. So wtf are people complaining about now?? Get the F out of here with the BS complaints and criticism!
Some people just want something to complain about. "no good deed will ever go unpunished."
Awesome comment brotha.I completely agree!👍🏽
Chandler about to adopt Mike Perry
I hear what chandler is saying. That young man will start dealing with racism as soon as he is conscious about social interactions. That boy will need to be prepared for the world. Regardless chandler will see these realities as his son grows up in a country that despises dark skin people. In the end kids just need strong role models and I think chandler is that.
Totally agree with you both. This is absolutely ridiculous.
From my understanding, it is a long process to adopt and not just anyone can do it
Good for you guys. Love it. Agree completely
This controversy is a product of the woke leftist culture of today where race defines you and matters above all. You guys are on point.
Part of the problem is they're in America. I'll never forget one time a guy was telling me how he didnt like the fact a gay couple was raising a black kid. Can you fathom that? Kids need food, good parents, education, love, so much, and some ppl out there would rather a kid be deprived of all of that just because the ones who care to give all this to the kid are white, or gay, or whatever the hell their identity is that they didnt choose. Its baffling to me. Some ppl should go live in poverty, or a 3rd world country, or in a shitty household to really understand how important it is to have parents who work hard just for YOU, because they care about YOU
Way to go guys! ❤
People are idiots. Those 2 boys will be raised in a loving household. Which is a lot better than them being raised by the system and having a much worse chance of having a good life.
Agreed with both of you!
There's a small but noticeable blindspot that both the chaps here have. Nobody should ever be given shit for doing selfless acts, however pure intentions can, on occasion, not be all that's needed. But good luck to him and the young'uns either way, no point in me typing out a novel here. :)
Well Said
Your guys comments are spot on. My wife is so called black and I am so called white. We have 4 mixed children and the so called world has their opinions...Let your lights 🚥 ☀ guys 🥊
Ya but Chandler prayed for adopted son to be only of a specific skin . Check his tweet & also watch MMA Gurus breakdown on the controversy . I take it you didn't listen to the entire episode where the controversy took place ?
@@maximumcarl8138 I did. I'm not commenting on all that I was just sharing my experience. I'm the only man in my family left who has kids. Just Luke that in one generation your whole "race" for your genetic line can or will be altered. Be fruitful and multiply ✖ 👑 🥊 📻
I appreciate Chandler raising those two boys in a Christ-led household. He seems like a stand-up guy. However, you guys are missing the point. Chandler needs to not only see his son as young men, but as young BLACK men. Yes, we should love one another regardless of skin color. But the truth is, and has always been, that young black men face issues that white men and women have not encountered and may not understand. Nobody expects Chandler to try to teach his kids how to be black because that's not going to happen. But he needs to be prepared to talk to them about the different reality that they will face as they grow up because of their skin color. And hopefully the boys interact with other black children so that they can build a community with people their age that share the same background.
Unfortunately race in America still matters.
It always will, until people learn that constantly looking in the rear-view mirror means you can't have your eyes on the road/journey ahead.
Seeing folks get upset with reality is hilarious lol deny it all you want but there’s a reason why I walk with my wallet in my hand in stores
Thank the media and democrats for making it an issue again the past decade.
@@philthyco1 the media and democrats did that? Alt right wing and maga folks had no parts? Lol
Michael Chandler doing is great. But to deny the fact the race matters. Why is Black culture John indoctrination. Is white culture indoctrination. Is so called Black culture indoctrination. I agree Josh he has to do the best you can. But culture matters. But you are being unrealistic America makes a difference.
Agreed, wholeheartedly. ❤Disappointing that this was even a topic.
Amen brothers.
Skin color doesn’t matter to me but it does to people of color and people who are still racist. There’s a lot of hate in this world and every parent who’s got a child that’s not white should prepare their kids to deal with the hate. Parents that adopt are special people. It’s awesome that Mike and his wife opened their hearts to kids they didn’t create. That being said you can’t ignore racism and wish it away or keep them in a buble bc one day that soft kind heart of their children is going to be stomped on by someone some day, it’s best they have the know how to deal with those ugly circumstances.
Differences make walls and boarders. We all on this rock.
Can’t wait for the day when we have color blindness…Star Trek was on to something…

Im with you on this new math 😂😂
These kids will experience racism at some point AS BLACK MEN. They need to be prepared to handle these situations. I'm not saying that he shouldnt have adopted them or that he can't do an amazing job raising these boys.
You two are good men......❤❤
I think with all of this woke vs anti-woke nonsense, we've lost a lot of perspective on race and the why of some concerns.
It's great that the Chandlers want to extend love to kids in need of it. That's truly great.
The problem only really lies in the world not being a perfect place. I get it, he wants to raise kids on the belief that only their character matters, which all people should be raised on this principle and it should sink in. That would be a perfect world....
However, the fact is, not all kids are/were raised that way and it doesn't always sink in if they were. Sure it's not the pre-60's anymore. That doesn't mean black kids do not need some preparing for the realities they're sure to face at some point in their life.
I don't think it's something to be completely outraged about, yet I do understand how such a statement could wrinkle some feathers and raise some eyebrows.
IS he preparing those kids for the real world or that perfect world that doesn't exactly exist?
Props to Josh on this.
Love is love we gotta stop going backwards
The one part that was a weird statement he said he prayed with his first boy, to " get a brother with SKIN like HIS" soo clearly it's not what Mike says, and the skin like his means that he knows his skin color, and that he is praying for someone like him. That's weirdif it didn't matter then why are they praying for that?
Funny how the people crying about race are always the ONLY people bringing up race to begin with 🤔
Michael Chandler, Shawn Ryan, Josh Thompson and John McCarthy. You guys should really consider asking for the perspective of a Black person to understand what the issue is with his statement. He did something very honorable by taking in two children to raise as his own and he, like all parents who adopt, should be applauded for that. The issue with his statement was that he didn't acknowledge (maybe he doesn't realize yet) that no matter the lifestyle and great home life he can provide for these beautiful children, this world is a different experience for Black people. I know it’s hard for some to acknowledge that but it's true. The world we live in will most certainly give challenges to these kids that Michael can't relate to. Not to say he can't be a great role model and help guide them through it. They will encounter treatment from cruel people that Michael probably has never seen and will never see. Looks, prejudices, slurs, purse clutching, people crossing the street, etc...these are things that Black people encounter on a regular basis. Michael will hopefully grow to realize this as the kids grow. You are in fact raising Black children sir.
All of this.
Travel the world before talking about it like you figured it out.
the black experience in America isn't special in this world. White privilege is real but so is American privilege.
Black Americans try to act as if they represent all black people in the world and as if being prejudiced against is "special".
Nationality prejudice in Europe is huge, then you have religious prejudice, hell European countries are tiny but every small area has a dialect and you get judged also by that and how "people from your area" are.
lots of Asians cultures also had caste systems, where a higher cast is literally not allowed to physically touch a lower caste which is still practised and felt today.
go travel through Africa and not in the tourist spots and ask them how they feel about other tribes, at best they usually don't intermarry at worst Genocide.
But oh NOOOOO !!!! the slurs and the purse clutching and the crossing the streets!!
Black Americans have it much much much better than like 90% the rest of the world.
Chandler is a multimillionaire, comparing his kids life with the average black kid in the states is like comparing yours to a Masai tribe member in Tanzania
the controversy imo is about white parents needing to be diligent about educating their black children about the very many stereotypes that may come with being of darker skin tone . I personally don’t think a white person will ever understand the truth of what I’m speaking about . as a darker individual eyes are always on you if you know you know because if you don’t unfortunately a person could lose their life . white people may not be blatantly racist but passively there are still many who look down upon darker individuals. I’m biracial so I know the truth . Respect to the chandlers but they must understand life as a “dark” person is entirely different to a whiter paler individual. Can’t live in a bubble forever .
Yes.
It's only different if you're trying to make different. Your life is going to be different anyway. So he's doing the proper way. Black folks are just as racist as white folks, and raising them to just be men is a far better method than raising them as black men
these kids ended up at foster home bro, you think their biological parents would’ve benefited them in more ways than Chandler can? You’re also forgetting black people can adopt too not just “white folks”, if he adopted 2 Mexicans kids nobody would care. It seems only one culture finds a way to negatively view things and it’s finally getting called out.
[sigh] Coupla conclusions jumped to there, regretfully.
It's not ideal but I'd rather have my black kin raised in a loving family of whatever skin colour. Yes they will face some things but I'm sure they'll face it better for having a more solid home background. Chandler may not have all their answers but I'm sure he'll do his best to help them find those answers.
Focus on the positive.
Michael chandler: I would like to own two Yorkshire terrier black children

I have to ask myself a core question. Out of every child that he can relate to on a cultural level, what was the motivating driver of him choosing two black kids ? En Vogue? Hey look at me, I'm different? I have known of two scenarios in my life were black kids were adopted by white parents.. I spoke with the black kids as adults.. They told me that in hindsight it definitely was not easy on them and they felt like they never belonged no matter how much adoration they had placed upon them.. They never felt like they fit..
you're right. they would be better off in foster care going from house to house and never having stability instead of having two loving parents. or could it be that a higher proportion of black men abandon their kids and need fathers.

L take the issue isnt that Michael cant be a good father and raise men, the issue the the realities of black ppl and white ppl are different in America and if you arent raising your black children to understand that, then they will be underequipped to deal with some of the realities of the world.
His kids are young enough to not have to deal with racism now, but how is Chandler gonna deal with his black children being called the N word when they reach school age, or any other types of racism they might experience.
How is he gonna deal with them being treated differently when they're in environments when they arent there versus when he's in the room with them.
Hows he going to to teach them about their history as african americans and their heritage in africa?
Yall saying race dont matter but these are legit children of a different race and that plays into so many instances across their life and experience.
Look Mike can own whatever color child he wants it’s America
"Own" lol
I would like to own a jack russel black child
Weird topic, stick to ufc lads.
I understand what Chandler is going for, but the reality is young black men in particular face challenges in society that young white men don’t have to deal with. It’s great that Chandler and his wife have given these boys a home, but not preparing his sons for the hardships they may face just because of the color of their skin is doing them a major disservice. When they get into teenage trouble with their friends and the cops show up and only question or arrest them, when they get followed around a store for no reason, or when the parents of kids in their neighborhood won’t let them come over to play, these are things that need to be prepared for or it will cause a lot of confusion and hurt for them later in life.
This is ridiculous. I'm black and from a alluent family in San Diego that lives in a wealthy neighborhood. And yes around white.doesn't change our family. So you got to grow up in poverty to keep it real. Man get outta here with that.
@@toddjohnson5176 sure, because your anecdotal experience turned out that way in your very small section of the world means that it will be the same for all.
