- The Department of State has issued new travel advisories for both Jamaica and the Bahamas, urging Americans to “reconsider travel” due to a recent rise in violent crimes, including armed robberies, sexual assault and homicides on the islands.

Travel warnings needs to be issued to the US
True words!!!
I know so many migrants coming accross our borders.
Very Smart.👏
... they are.
That has been a warning. I heard about it this morning on the radio
Travel Warnings should be issued for Washington DC

Louisville and Oklahoma City too
No travel warnings for Washington DC, Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Miami?

Jamaica and Bahamas are safer than the USA right now.😂
Exactly
Police in Jamaica do not investigate crimes, most hospitals in Jamaica have 1 doctor on staff. If you have to do any type of surgery in Jamaica, you must purchasr all of the supplies and bring them to the hospital for the surgery.
@latoyabaker6302 Stop lying on my country. You’ve been saying this under every comment. Jamaica has an abundance of medical doctors; hence why they are not paid well. Many go into private practice. One of my younger cousins is a medical doctor in Jamaica, so I know what I am talking about. There are even many Cuban doctors there… they are highly trained. Plus there are both public and private hospitals. There are both good ones and bad ones, like everywhere else. Obviously, people with money can afford the best care… that is everywhere, not just in Jamaica.
@latoyabaker6302 My friend recently did surgery at a hospital in Kingston, and she didn’t have to bring any supplies. I’m concerned about where you are going for surgery. Are you sure that is a licensed medical doctor?? That is against profession ethics. My friend’s insurance company paid for the surgery. You sound deranged.
Lies. Per Capita America is Switzerland compared to Jamaica.
We just spent the weekend at Paradise Island. It was fabulous and we walked everywhere. Spent some time with the enterprising locals at Cabbage beach.

It is probably safe for you but go ask the locals if it’s safe for them. This btw applies Jamaica. Very violent for the locals and someone for tourist
Im American and I can safely say that there should be a travel advisory for America. It’s so many mass shootings, cartel kidnappings, human trafficking, and so on. I’m sure Jamaica has its fair share of crime, but America, has way much more crime. Like you said, when traveling there just be wise and watch your surroundings. Jamaica is safe than new yark and many more places in the usa. 99%of people travel to jamaica can speak honestly about the welcome they received during their visit . Crime in Jamaica has never affected tourists jamaican always welcome strangers..I think China should do the same if that is the case. . the country is over run by Chinese and no one bothered them. they feel at home. Crime is in every country. I am scared to go some places right here in the US.
Imagine issuing a warning for 18 murders on 1 island when theres 699 more islands to choose from in the bahamas
Don't know about Jamaica, haven't visited that one yet or learned of it, but that country the Bahamas is a good example that immigration must be controlled. A study was once done showing that seventy five percent of the crimes committed in the Bahamas was not done by Bahamians. And in the other twenty five percent, the crimes were partly done by people born to people who came there from other Caribbean nations. The country has suffered for decades under the weight of other nations coming there and bringing their own culture. Watch out for people who say they are Bahamians, because many people there and abroad say that they are Bahamians and are not. Many are born to people who came there many years ago. It's a very sad situation there, because the world hears the name of this country, but do not know the truth. The question there is, who are committing these crimes.
18 murders ain’t nothing!!! Go to New York!!! That “island” sees way more than that and they have one of the most powerful police force in the world.
@@evaeves8569 You said, [Quote] "Watch out for people who say they are Bahamians, because many people there and abroad say that they are Bahamians and are not. Many are born to people who came there many years ago" [end quote]. So, my question to you is this: What do you call the children born in the Bahamas of "people who came there many years ago?" In fact, what do you call the children born in America of the European Whites who came to America long ago? By your reasoning, no White person nor persons of other races and ethnicities born in America - except the Native Indians - would be American, since their family members all came to America years ago.
@@dakg8034 Well, you ignored the rest and picked out what suits you. But if you read my comment clearly you will see it is about the effect of some different cultures, and about crime. Not about anything else. The 'many are born to people who came,' is just stating factually about a percentage of people and still talking about culture and crime. Yes, they are born there and are from the country, but are not being taught the country. Factually, now is not the same as the past. Europeans and other races in the past accepted the country they came, not bring their own. And I met a few people abroad not born there in the Bahamas, but made people think they are. There was once even a Caribbean guy who was being arrested in the US that said he was from the Bahamas, and they found out was not. This is serious stuff.
@@evaeves8569 Not so at all. I did not pick out what suits me. I merely pointed out the absurdity of the argument you made. Your entire comment can be summed up in two main points:
(a) Immigration of foreigners needs to be controlled by the host country because immigrants bring their culture - a culture that involves crimes.
(b) crime in the Bahamas is committed by people claiming to be Bahamians but who are not truly Bahamians.
To be clear, I do not disagree that migrants bring their culture - even criminal behaviors to host countries. That is an undeniable truth worldwide in every country. The Bahamas is no exception.
However, you then cited a study, and further said, [quote] "Watch out for people who say they are Bahamians, because many people there and abroad say that they are Bahamians and are not. Many are born to people who came there many years ago [end quote].
That is where you lost me in your reasoning, because the comment implies that crime is the Bahamas is mainly the doing of people who came from elsewhere or were born of migrants who came to the Bahamas. That is completely false and is just as equally discriminatory in nature. Being born in the Bahamas of parents who came there from abroad many years ago, DOES NOT make those persons any less Bahamian. So, to heap them into the same category as those who came from outside, is blatant bias against them. That is the point my comment was meant to convey.
Tourists and even locals in both countries are safe. Anybody associated with crime in ANY way is at risk because crime in the Caribbean isn’t random like it is in America. It’s mostly contained within specific areas and gang related. I feel safer in Jamaica than I do in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco, and any rural American town (yes sundown towns are still very common).
Exactly not "random"
Yet USA is at level 4 at all times haha

It’s not defamation. Once one of your family member died from ruthless crimes in Jamaica, then you feel very different. The only way to stop the madness is to stop tourism. The government will then take crimes seriously.
I cannot agree where the US Embassy stated that, "Local police often do not respond effectively to serious criminal incidents." That is a stretch and not reflective of the efforts, strides and comparative successes made in the fight against crime. The fact that murders and violent crimes are down double digits (percentage) compared to the corresponding period last year (2023), cannot honestly be said to be more alarming, and that leads me to wonder why the risk level is increased.

My advice to anyone traveling to the Bahamas especially Nassau is simple, Stay in the tourist areas, don't go wandering over the islands, renting a scooter and wondering over the island is a bad idea, first off the traffic is horrendous. Take an island tour instead, the crime and violence is basically among the natives there, Th Bahamas government does not tolerate crimes against tourist, that is their bread and butter. however if you go wondering into the interior you are looking for trouble, you will become an easy mark! stay in the bay street area, paradise island area, cable beach area, major hotel areas, if you get on a jitney (public transportation), stay on the bus, do not get off until it brings you back to Bay street, if you get lost find a buss stop, all jitneys will eventually end on bay street! or flag down a cop! visit, enjoy, have fun be safe!
