      I am having a harder time quitting Kratom then I did getting off of methadone for some reason. I’m 46 and I’ve battled every opiate known to man since I was 15. thought that I had found the cheat code when I heard some dude talking about Kratom on an old Joe Rogan podcast. Fuck, was I wrong. This channel has really helped me. I’ve tapered down to about 1/3 of my normal daily dose and I’m still pushing forward.
      Thank you, brother 🙏

    my whole behavior the last 3 years is wrapped up in kratom... I wake up, think about all the things I need to do that have been piling up for the last 3 years, and I cant deal, so I mix up some kratom and sit and watch youtube videos for the next 14 hours until its time to go to sleep... every single day for the last 3 years, including almost losing my job...
    when I quit, I am going to have to find some behavior to replace sitting in front of the computer watching youtube everyday...

    Thank you for all the value you provide. I'm in that 4 year mark 20 grams a day. In my 4 years I've stopped a times for a few weeks and every time ive found the same problem the withdrawals are one thing they weren't pleasant but you its something you can definitely get through. The hardest part is the mental not the physical the jonesing for it the obsessing over it the trying to distract the thoughts from thinking about kratom. Very similar to wuitting smoking after being a smoker for many years. I feel that so many people get worried about withdrawls and how painful or miserable that might be and kinda over look the mental the good news is the physical part goes away fairly fast and no matter how bad its not super long
    The mental attachment is what i usualy end up succumbing too

    After almost 4 years of regular use abiut 25 grams a day i quit it cold turkey and stayed without it for a month and now im back at it again. I was in a grieving time and the pain i experienced kinda mended with my emotional pain and felt appropriate. Right after i quit i got something like a cold or mild flu and still not sure if it was virus related or the withdrawals. All it took for me is taking lots of aspirin meds and acetaminophen for about a week.
    I find it the hardest part as with any other substance is not the process of quitting but the persistence to choose to stay away from it.

    Wow I found you a year after you started kratom, and a month ago I made the decision to quit and I’m scared! It looks like you and I kinda followed the same Kratom path. I was looking for your channel for guidance not realizing you started a new journey and made a new channel. This channel is everything that I need to prepare so thank you for sharing this with all of us.
    I was a pill addict for 12 years, I’ve been clean for 4 years and I’ve been taking Kratom for 3 years. I’m really worried about WD and I’m nervous that it might trigger me to remember pill withdrawal and exacerbate physical and mental symptoms if that makes sense. Idk if that’s a normal way to feel but that’s kind of where I’m at. I’ve spaced out how much I’m dosing so far and limit to twice a day. I wanna get down to once a day with a taper.

    Tread cautiously with this one, but I took a vacation off from kratom. The first two nights, I enjoyed a moderate amount of cocktails since it was vacation. The third night, I took a gummy of cannabis since it was legal in the location of where I was at. Surprisingly, this helped me get some momentum going to stay off of K for the rest of the two weeks- especially getting past the first couple days. Yet, I know this IS NOT for someone who suffers from addiction. I've been lucky to not like alcohol or cannabis or anything else for that matter to excess.

    Most detox programs are a quick taper. Unless you get on some Med asisit program. The only time detox would work is if I'm around other people. You all know what I am talking about. I'm just being able to laugh and stuff. Kratom can be similar. I'm far removed from my active use running the streets days. That is partly due to Kratom. Only thing ever to work for addiction. But when I quit, I remembered my detox days. I explained to my girlfriend, who I would marry soon, and said, "Hey! I need your help. And as things began to suck coming off Kratom, I just leaned on her so much. And I made it through. I love that Joey mentioned that. Doing it alone sucks. It can be anyone. Councilor, friend ( that doesn't take kratom) church, meetings. Just definitely look for someone to help support you. When you have that day where your stuck in your head just go be with them and watch. You be distracted and get prospective. And you will make it through that day or hour or minute. Until eventually, you just move on. You can do it! Even comment on here. People will help!

    Hey man big fan of your show. I am interested in hearing your views on groups like NA and AA in terms of Kratom? Or even rehab in general, I believe the problem with that, specifically in terms of Kratom is part of getting off kratom involves still taking it.

    • @bruceswan896
      @bruceswan896 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went to NA meetings for a while but that was when I was on man made opiates. NA meetings didn’t seem to help me much because everyone were smokers and I am not so I felt like I didn’t fit in. That being said you should give it a try because the meetings are free. Now I have made it almost a year again without man made opiates but I have a very painful skin condition so I never know when I am going to have to take man made opiates again. Even though I am off the man made opiates. I still take Kratom for pain and depression. I will sometimes quit Kratom for several days in a row but I find out if I have it around I will take it. But I would suggest NA meetings they might help you. Sorry for rambling on.

    • @isuckatspeedrunning8823
      @isuckatspeedrunning8823 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bruceswan896 NA meetings I feel only help certain people. I was a opiate addict. And attended. Now context, I am a non apologetic atheist. So the idea of higher power really turned me off. Also I do not believe in the concept that you are powerless over your addiction. With the right will power you can overcome anything. I have been taken kratom over a year I am at the point were I can not imagine goin without it. The withdrawal are one of the worst I ever experienced. It's a win lose really helps with my depression

    • @m.a.g.3920

      @isuckatspeedrunning8823 in my case I have a very crooked Life situation (probably I have undiagnosed depression right now..) adhd and diabetes type 1, so man, my baseline is pretty miserable, I know that kratom is "fake Happiness and content" but: It helps me emotionally, It kinda works motivating me (less than at the glorious honeymoon period😢) and specially, it helps A LOT to keep my blood' sugar in check..
      So for me it's a super complicated dilemma, to stop using It, I really don't know what to do, I never went further than 15gpd in 6 years, I have no side effects issues and normally I take 9-11gpd. I do stop regularly for 15-45 days each 3-4 months.

    I love the information you’re spreading but a key element that I think you need to put into the equation is why people started using Kratom. I started taking kratom because a friend recommended it later in life I used kratom to quit drinking. Later in life when I quit kratom I started drinking. You say there’s no cure for the withdrawal. Thats not entirely true, heroin addicts, and alcoholics go back to their old drug, and then they end up addicted to that drug again, I would love to hear more information on people that have dealt with this because this is where I’m at and it’s choosing your demons. How do you get through this as im back to drinking to stop kratom:(

    • @joeytalksaboutlife
      @joeytalksaboutlife  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    • @BobC59
      @BobC59 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@m.a.g.3920 Thanks for asking - I'm doing very well. Spent two weeks effectively reducing mitragynine levels in my system by making a chart of when, what, and how much - but limited to what I thought was doable without expecting any discomfort (8-10gpd) of plain powdered leaf (I had probably been averaging 15, but also remembered I would add a little extract on occasion. Actually started having some w/d symptoms (RLS all over, mostly, and some softer, more frequent poops - lol). After 10-12 days, I felt stabilized and somewhat adjusted to +/- 8gpd (still had those weird hunger feelings, even when full), and w/d was mainly just restlessness (day and night) and some lost sleep.
      When I felt I could go another step, I mixed 4-5 grams of hirsuta powder with same amount of kratom stem and vein. Felt kinda wired all day, kinda like a strong caffeine buzz. Next couple of days, I felt like I was done with tapering and went maybe 30 hours w/o anything.
      Here's the really weird part, and sorry this gets a bit longer, but hoping others can benefit: Once I felt most w/d and cravings were gone, I dosed a little (1.5-2 grams) a couple times to just calm the restlessness. I expected the full magic experienced during early kratom use, but instead, I just felt a bit foggy and wished ai had't taken any at all. Same thing happened again over a few days when I was down to almost nothing. I as actually bummed, because I don't want to quit for good - just for a while so I know I can travel places hat don't allow it and not be jonesing. In the end, I lost my taste for it, though I still have some only for symptom control with nerve pain - but an occasional gabapentin and some ibuprofen usually do fine. But I did get a little "hoooked" and had a little discomfort quitting.
      Starting kratom as a means of finding some relief (like I did) is okay, but DO NOT GET CARRIED AWAY! The adage "less is more" is to be heeded to avoid discomfort or excessive use going forward - like with any habit-forming substance. Caveat: If you are using kratom to ween off opiate addiction, that's a horse of a different color and someone else should be consulted - but knowing some prescription opiates pretty well from surgeries, I suggest kratom is a fantastic half-way to full recovery. Get a dose that works, stabilize, then taper ever so slowly - even if it takes a year or more. Go at your own pace, but just keep track of progress. Its fine to plateau for as long as you need, just don't go backwards. You WILL get there!

      In my experience (almost 6years of use) the tolerance sets in when u use too often, like a lot times per day, and not so much about the dose, let's say u take 4g at 7am and then 6g at 8-9pm. I assure you that you'll feel that much much more than 3-3-3 or much more than 2-2-2-2-2. Not just because the dose being lower but because the time you let your body to "wash out" the kratom.

    I've switched to just kratom tea I've found that it's a lot easier to taper off the tea than the powder. There's something about the powder that makes it so much harder to quit.

      Well, yeah. The tea is infused in water, while the powder is the entire leaf. Makes sense.

      I make mine in the coffee pot with powder I know it probably makes less then the original amount in the filter but I'm at that point after a few years the stomach took a beating with ingesting powder and it seems to still give desired affects

      I believe the tea has all the alkaloids of the plant instead of just the isolated one's of the powder. These alkaloids can help reshape our cells to be able to receive other nutrients, hormones, not just the active mitragynine's. Maybe that can make it easier for our bodies to cope?
