My first question. Does the strain make a difference? Maeng Da vs red bali etc? I used to use MD but i noticed a few years ago id get dizzy like i had vertigo and I immediately stopped and went to Krave Red bali. I went to kratom after Norco abuse. Long story short I have been on K for 10 years and i moved to krave due to availability and noticed it was light on me. It helped with happiness and excitement and relationships etc. similar to you. Im sick of this shit. My work situation is going to play a huge role.
Im around 80 grams or less a day. No sense in fooling myself or others on how much. I thought i would taper ever so slightly? 75g then 70g then 65g .... but pressing my withdrawal symptoms to very little and keep working my way down. Like you saids it will power! Going to start tomorrow.

Started using kratom to help quit 15 years opiate use…and I found I loved kratom! After 5 years it wasn’t working the same anymore. I needed to take 50 plus gpd to not feel like crap! Was planning an overseas trip for last October with my wife and kratom was illegal there.
I quit pre-trip in August at about 25gpd cold turkey. I felt like crap for 2 weeks. Couldn’t sleep more than about an hour at a time. Megadosed 9:49 on Vitamin C Ascorbate. Gradually felt better after 2 weeks and am now 5 months clean. Still experiencing PAWS but feel pretty normal. So thankful to be clean and in recovery! Hope and pray to never go back. Recovery is a journey! Take the plunge if you need and press through the pain! It is worth it on the other side! Jesus is the King!

I figured id find a comment giving Jesus the credit. With his help all things are possible to them that believe.
Prayer for myself is to slowly taper pushing to slight WD and then holding there and then down a bit on the dosage and feel more WD and then down again. I dont remember what its like to be sober, besides Dr Pepper or chocolate. Im currently dosing high g's and hope to be sober completely in a few months. Thank you Jesus for sobriety!

My story is 4.5 years of Red Bali kratom addiction. At my peak I was using 20-40 grams per day. More recently as little as 4. A few months ago I started drinking along with the kratom. This is a really bad idea, you can develop toxic liver syndrome, but man I loved those two things together. I was also using Supreme Red Bali so, the strongest and most opiate like strain of all. Plus alcohol on top. I detoxed WAY to fast from both at the same time and it was a total nightmare. I am almost a week in and I am just starting to feel close to normal. I slept a lot today, but the body pain came on late and was awful. Before that, I was unable to even lay down for sleep for three days. Please do not mix kratom with alcohol, it is dangerous. The Red Bali is particularly hard to get off. Really happy to be free from this stuff. I am alcohol and kratom free. I even threw away my cannabis vape pen today. Ready for a clean happy life. I feel free.

My experience is very similar to yours. I used that same amount of kratom for about 6 years, all while drinking about 8 beers everyday. Last week I reached a point where I felt so sick of this lifestyle. Not only is it expensive, but it's so unhealthy, both physically and mentally. I stopped using kratom 4 days ago, and I'm starting to feel better. I quit alcohol two days ago, and today was pretty rough. Anyways, I hope you stay true to breaking the habit, please give us an update on how you're doing. Good luck!

So happy I found this. I’m 48 hours off kratom at 20 GPD. I was taking 5 grams every 4 hours and for 3 years. I noticed on it after a while, it made me feel worse. So I quit. Now I’m a recovering opiate addict, heroin, pills, ect. The withdrawal isn’t as bad as those. Some RLS, some mild discomfort, sneezing, and today no RLS, but slept 3 hours last night. No energy. What you’re describing is definitely a hardcore opiate withdrawal. I really haven’t had diarrhea. But I wasn’t having much of a problem going on kratom. My heart rate goes up moving around. I am done with this crap. The kratom made me feel worse. Anxiety, panic attacks, depression ect. I feel more positive than I did when I was on Kratom! Lol😂 thank you for making this video!

I was on roughly 20-25 gpd for about 2 years. I tapered pretty quickly for about a week and was already feeling bad withdrawal so I just quit. My last dose was roughly 5 and a half days ago. Today I don’t feel as restless or hot and cold. The lack of motivation is also slightly better. I have always had bad insomnia so I’m a bit concerned about possibly having weeks of that to look forward to. On a positive note, kratom had been causing me terrible anxiety and anger issues and both of those have almost completely disappeared. I knew I needed to quit to become the best version of myself so a bit of suffering is not only the price I have to pay but also will act as a reminder of why I can’t start taking it again. Withdrawal to me is a reminder that high highs come with low lows.

Holy shit feeling like ass and RLS for 6 weeks ?? That’s insane! I jumped off of suboxone ( 4mg per day 12 year addiction COLD TURKEY ) jumped off 3 weeks ago. I got through 6 days and felt amazing. I truly believe God helped me and answered my prayer. Of course being an addict you already should know I screwed up. On day 7 I was getting slight ( what if’s ) so I took a couple of tabs ( then it became 8-9 a day ) now stopping tabs cold turkey HAS CAUSED MAJOR WITHDRAWAL ( I mean my effin body feels like every muscle fiber wants to explode out of my skin. Also have major RLS !!! Shit is driving me INSANE and no sleep. Well I jumped back and turned to kratom. It helps me but I still can’t sleep and the RLS is still there. However I will say I’m only toying with the kratom ( taking 1gram maybe 2 at a time ) for a total of 3-5 grams for the whole day ( which is 24 hours since I’m up nonstop.

Joey, thank you so much for your videos. I’ve been taking Kratom for about 4 years now-everyday. I’ve always been against “drugs” (no judgment on anyone who does them, I clearly understand) because of my Father and what he goes through with addiction. Now I love him so much more, because I feel like I’ve had a glimpse of how exhausting addiction can be. I’ve been off of ADHD meds for a month and a half now-but upped my Kratom dose to ease those withdrawals. So back to square one again with tapering off of Kratom. My faith helps me SO much-and vids like this are so uplifting for my soul and give me hope. I want Kratom out of my life forever, it’s ruining me in so many ways.
***Disclaimer-If anyone reads this and takes Kratom daily-I completely understand why you do it and I have no intention of judging you. This is my personal journey with it, and it feels good to talk about how painful it’s been for me and my mental state. Not just mental-but absolutely physical as well. If anyone relates to addiction of any substance-I just want you to know that YOU GOT THIS!! You are loved and cared for more than you know. Everyday is a new start. When I mess up on some days, I get so defeated and feel like a failure. BUT THATS NOT TRUE!!! Keep going. Do it with Love. And never give up!!!

But now this last stretch of four months or so, like almost three when I started trying almost 2 months ago, suddenly out of nowhere I get severe withdrawals, wake up at night covered in sweat and shake chills, crawling out of my skin feeling, plus the mental mind screws. This is so not cool and the other half dozen quits not having any effect baffles me now. I mean why now and not the other 6 or 7 times?
Thanks for your support man. This quit is the last when I finally pull it off, like hell no way I'm coming back thru this ever again.

So I'm nearly 144 hours clean off of Kratom. Day 6. The worst of it today has been the lack of energy, chills and stomach cramps. Plus there's this weird taste in my mouth that no matter what I do I can't shake. I went out today and got some magnesium supplements which I wish I'd started days ago but you live and learn. Last night was rough, very little sleep, too hot then too cold couldn't get comfortable but there was no restless legs so I'm hoping that they have gone for good. I never want to experience that again. I know I've got a long few weeks ahead of me but the physical withdrawals really have started to die off now and it's nowhere near as bad as a few days ago. Dry lips is another thing I experienced but the chills and goosebumps I'm hoping will go soon because I'm sick of feeling cold. Stay strong everyone wanting to quit. You can do it

I’ve abused morphine sulfate, vics and percs before, and these slight instances of wd feels EXACTLY like my opiate wd. I’m forced to quit because I’ll be traveling for business soon, and I CANNOT be lugging around bags of kratom. Magnesium glycerin, black seed oil, gabapentin, ibuprofen, 5HTP, and Mucuna Puriens are all stocked up ready for the final day. Add lipsomal vitamin c to that list and start "front loading": you can take magnesium and/or BSO among other things, in place of the kratom you're subtracting during the taper. You're better off with DLPA and L-Tyrosine than mucuna too, as mucuna can down regulate dopamine production, as it's one step away from being a direct replacement for it in its leva dopa content.

Nothing like real opiates, but similar in feeling i suppose. I started back up a month ago for pain from work. Got tired of choking down tylenol all day and kratom works way better. It's easy to creep up to around 15 to 20 grams. I recommend keeping your dose low as long as you can and you shouldn't get any negative side effects. Thx for this comment. I'm at about 2 years also. Took me all that time to reach a point of often taking 2-3 doses per day. Daytime dose 3-5g, but I'm finding 6-8g of a strong red vein at night often helps bring on sleep. I must be lucky because if i take any more than that in a day, I lose most of the benefits, and if I try to add more, I just feel tired. Admittedly, I don't like going longer than 24 hours without it. Not so much wd's as I just start feeling the pain issues creeping back. Like you, I drink almost no alcohol now.
And yes, its great to have someone sharing their K journey - however I came here to find out which tabs Joey liked because I'm gonna order some - lol. ***EVERYTHING IN MODERATION***

I've been taking it regularly for 2 years - between 5 and 15 g's per day. Stopped a couple times for 2-3 days r found it quite beneficial for clearing the bowels (lolo but serious too!). A little nervousness after 18-20 hours, so quelled it with 1mg lorazepam. Next day, I took 2 immodium to avoid too many trips to the bathroom (seriously, this helps!), and at some point a single tramadol with 2 tylenol. After that, clear-minded, clear sailing. I think moderation is the key, or as the all the wise ones in the kratom community say, LESS IS MORE.

I really relate to everything you said as to why you found kratom. I was suicidal when I found it and until lately, I felt it saved me. It had the exact same effect on me until suddenly it was having the opposite effect. It gives you those unearned endorphines and stops you from doing things that give you natural endorphines for a reason (exercise, goal driven work). One day you look back and realise all you've done is drench your brain in dopamine trying to survive rather than doing things that actually make a change in your life to deal with the root cause of depression. I think this plant should be used as a very occasional tool, but every day completely takes all motivation from you, because why would your brain bother when it's getting all the endorphines it wants by sitting and knocking back a powder?

Yea, that doesn’t work in case you were wondering. Now I’m 6 months into another 50+ GPD habit and it’s been 24 hours since my last dose. I’m not feeling great, but it definitely could be worse. I agree with Joey about the sleep part. I used to load up on powder before bed. Without Kratom I’m not planning to sleep very well. A person could try sleeping medications to help with this, but then you’re looking at quitting a whole other habit. Life is hard guys. At least for people like us it is. Hang in there my people.

The sleep was horrible. I'd wake up every hour and have to drink every 3 hours. I lost the ability to complete consecutive sleep cycles. I'd always wake up by the end of each cycle. I was going through one of those 20oz bags in about a week, which is about 80g/day just like you. Currently I'm down to about 10-20g/day. I'm so proud I was able to go 12 hours without a dose and only woke up once in the night. It feels so good to be coming off the stuff.

I take a one month break every year, which is okay-ish. I know that I have to do it to keep my tolerance in check, but life is way easier for me with my Kratom safety net as an ex alcoholic (surprise).
I take 6g of Kratom as a tea (which is as strong as around 3-4g of powder) 2-4x a week in the evening, and I take a 7 day tolerance break every month. Been pretty successfull with that regiment for the last 5 years and I don't really plan on stopping as I don't really experience heavy side effects from it. Same. I would have been on opioidRx for rest of my life for physical let me say again not emotional but physical body injuries that will never heal therefore, pain is not emotional it’s detailed over four decades on MRIs X-rays, catscans, my medical records are four decades long, and bodily pain from few different areas of my body pelvis, spine/back, legs, wrists, knees . I was basically bedridden in 24/7 debilitating pain. I’ve suffered three decades in and out of hospital begging for pain management and finally after a hysterectomy that almost killed me, I had a primary care physician, that approved the opioidrx and I was thriving. No more Cancer, but that surgery left me worse off then before and added to my already chronic body injuries suffered as a child and teen. Again, my pain will not go away. I need pain management for mobility, and functionality. Unfortunately, during covid BS my doc was forced to retire. I was transferred into pain management which is an absolute joke. They cut my meds significantly. I was spiraling my pain was intolerable again and then they abandoned me. Joey and Kratom saved my life. There are individuals who need medication for life and we shouldn’t be judged or spoken to like we have done something wrong. Honestly, I am confused why anyone, would want someone to suffer. Opioid therapy prescribed by a doctor taken as prescribed and responsible respectively taken saves lives. The main benefit of opioid RX is for pain. It’s not supposed to be taken recreationally. The narrative is opioids are bad. I mean marijuana was bad until it’s rebranded as cannabis right now. My point is if you need medication you take it. Any medication or alcohol, even tobacco, shoot even sugar, caffeine causes withdrawal symptoms like Joey explained. Love to all ❤

Orthopedic, oncologist, rheumatologist, I mean tons of doctors all reviewed my scans can see very clearly what is causing my debilitating pain and why I can’t walk, or function without opioidRx I was thriving for several on them. I didn’t need increased medication dosing because my doctor at the time knew we needed to figure out at what dose and times per day. Once that was established I was doing great mobile and independent no longer bedridden in excruciating pain but the DEA was allowed to just interfere and pain may became barbaric torture or patient abandonment. I'm on day 3 of withdrawal from a 30mg cold turkey quit. Last night wasn't as bad as the first night the first night I barely slept but last night I got about 6 hours. The main issue was slight restless legs but not as bad as subutext rls nowhere near as bad. The waking up covered in sweat was pretty miserable and sleeping on the sofa so not to disturb my wife was a pretty miserable experience. Today I'm still struggling to find motivation and energy and the body chills are a pain but I'm feeling more positive than yesterday. Yesterday was pretty miserable, I'd walk for 5 minutes then need to sit down. I can't wait for at least a week in just to get rid of the restless legs and the stomach cramps. Meditation has been so difficult because I just don't feel comfortable. A weird thing is how emotional I feel, I've cried more in the last 2 days than I have in years but I think my emotions are just all over the place. Prayer has been a slight relief but I don't feel like my heart is truly in it. Stay strong if you're going through withdrawal it sucks but it will get better. It will

Followed your first channel. Been using kratom for 5 years. My wife is pregnant and I just don't want to be beholdened to the stuff. Because I currently am. It's a near constant. I like kratom I just really want to reduce from daily use to something occassional. Also saw something in the news about a guy having a seizure and dying from it. Anyhow, The RLS is the worst part. I'd probably take about 20 grams. I'm going to get aggressive. Starting at 4 grams in the morning and hopefully getting to 4 grams before bed so I can sleep. then taper to 2 grams and 4...then 2 and 2. Wish me luck. Thanks for all your information.

Joey, Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you did what you needed to do. We all have that inner voice guiding us, right?
I have been taking 3 grams 2 or 3 times per day, so a total of 6-9 grams per day, for 5 years. It has saved my life. I take it both for pain management and energy - I’ve been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Before I found Kratom, I had to fight to stay both awake and productive. Frankly, I have no plans to quit, ever. Never say never, though. If I ever do need to quit, I will taper off very, very slowly - I will take an entire year to do it, if necessary.

If you used Kratom to get off of an opioid, Methadone, why would you want go back to using another opioid, Suboxone, to get off Kratom? To me that's jumping out of the fire and into the smoke then back into the fire. Kratom is not an opioid per say but it does behave like one so it is addictive and the withdrawals suck but Suboxone withdrawal is worse. There's no easy way to get off Kratom but it will be less painful than getting off a true opioid.

Can’t remember exactly how much i was taking because at that point I had kinda got so embarrassed I had stopped counting it. I’m looking to get off again soon and my plan is to just grind through 14 days and get on nalextrone. I’ve heard fantastic things about it and hopefully it can help with pain as well. im at like 100g a day after a year of using it. i started because i had to get sober from alcohol and it did help temporarily but I'm at a place where it has gotten out of control. i have gotten off it in the past before i started a year ago after small period of using it but never tried after using it for this long in this amount. I'm very much struggling with how to go about it! esp since i also use it for chronic pain and the withdrawal is extremely painful. I've not been successful with tapering but i think cold turkey would be horrific so I'm going to give it another go. I'm glad i found this video! maybe ill try to switch to tea/capsules in order to adjust my tolerance and be able to control it better. thx for making this and being so candid! i don't see a lot of people out there talking honestly about kratom use.

I couldn't sit still going sixty five seventy miles an hour! Uncontrollable shaking! I've heard the expression.... Shadow boxing. Ha. That's how I felt in the car. Has anyone quit kratom with very little to no WD by tapering extremely slowly. Like 1 gram less per day, then staying there for several days before subtracting another gram (or less if needed) until you're only taking 1 gpd?
I realize this would take a very long time especially if you're starting at a high dose, but is this method feasible if you're not on a time table to getting all the way off?
What are the downsides of doing it this way? I am worried I might experience negative mental/mood effects from lowering the dose and instead of experiencing a couple weeks of hell, I'd be in a year long (or more) state of slight depression. Is it better to rip off the bandaid so to speak?

Hey everyone I just wanted to give you all a breakdown of what the last 7 days have been like for me quitting kratom cold turkey after 4 years of a 25g a day intake.
Day 1. The withdrawals started about 12 hours after my last dose but very mild, shivers, aches and yawning.
Day 2. Insomnia kicked in as did the restless legs and arms. Diarrhea started and the chills + goosebumps where chronic. I could not get warm and when I felt slightly warm I would sweat profusely. The stomach cramps made eating difficult and I developed a foul taste in my mouth. Lack of energy really ramped up.
Day 3. Pretty much the same as day 2. Exhausted at this point from lack of sleep and food but felt some symptoms subside.
Day 4. Restless legs pretty much gone, insomnia still there getting a few hours sleep a night. Diarrhea persisted as did the chills and lack of appetite.
Day 5. Feeling a but better. Restless legs gone completely, sleep still tricky, difficult to get comfortable. Worst of it now is the fatigue and Diarrhea.
Day 6. Fatigue and Diarrhea the worst of it now. Slept much better on the night of day 6 after taking a magnesium supplement.
Day 7. Worst of it now has completely gone. Still some lingering symptoms, chills, stomach issues and fatigue BUT nowhere near as bad. I'm feeling so much better. The depression of days 2 and 3 has gone and I'm feeling more optimistic. It's one week out of a whole year. If you're looking to quit start magnesium earlier than I did along with vitamin C. You can do this

A 100 gram bag lasts me just less than 7 days or thereabouts

So I've been on and off with kratom for 3 years. Never used it daily for more than 2 weeks in a role. Except last month due to life stresses I began taking it daily and I mean absurd amounts. Probably about 25-35g a day. And ive tried quitting but this time unlike other times I haven't been able to just put it down and not think about it. So I've been doing the whole buying and throwing out trying to quit. I'm on day 2 since my last dosing. I'm not having any withdrawal symptoms, I do feel low, lack of excitement, and some anxiety (which could just be life ). But physically I'm fine. Yesterday I had a slight headache here and there. I don't think I can go back to using it like I did in the past because over the last month I've definitely become addicted and no longer have control over it like I have for the past 3 years. Ladies and gentlemen do not use kratom or drugs to mask your problems

Did a 28 day taper. You are 100% correct, I thought if I could get thru the withdrawals I’d have this battle one. The mind tricks you have to play to not take another dose is exhausting!
